  • In April of 2000, the Korea Power Exchange(KPX) was introduced into Korea electricity market. The purpose of this paper is to describe how the system operator indicates operational risks between the transmission planning and the supply and demand growth to make the market "work" and manage the power system in real time. This paper describes the experiences of kpx about the indication of operational risks including, for example, contingency analysis, voltage profile and fault capacity of three-phase short current.

  • 선유도어뢰 체계운용성능분석은 요구분석 및 개발을 위한 기술적 분석 자료를 제공하는 것을 목표로 하며, 결과적으로 선유도어뢰 체계공학에서 요구정의 활동을 지원한다. 본 논문에서는 문제정의, 정식화, 모델링, 시뮬레이션, 분석 결과 등 체계운용 성능분석을 위한 기술적 접근 방법과 분석 사례를 소개한다.

  • Considered is the concurrent spare part(CSP) requirements problem of new equipment system. In the considered system, when a part fails, the part cannot be repaired and should be replaced. In addition, cannibalization is allowed. It is assumed that the failure of a part follows a Poisson process. The operational availability concept in CSP is defined, and a formula is derived to calculate the operational availability using expected machine operating time during CSP period. The problem is formulated as the operational availability maximization problem with available budget constraint and a heuristic solution search procedure is developed. An illustrative example is shown to explain the solution procedure.

  • The Korean medical evacuation helicopter was developed based on the Korean Utility Helicopter (hereafter referred to as 'Surion'). It uses an auxiliary power unit and engine for heating during winter operation. The helicopter maintains the internal temperature of the aircraft using its bleed air to satisfy its operational capability. However, due to the air inflow through the gap between the aircraft skin and door, additional heating for operating the portable medical equipment and preventing hypothermia in evacuated patients is required. Accordingly, an electric auxiliary heater was developed for additional heating during winter operation, and environmental, durability, and performance tests were conducted per MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F. The auxiliary heater was verified per the tailored airworthiness certification criteria.

  • Performance of the Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute (KORDI) operational storm surge prediction system for the Korean coast is presented here. Results for storm surge hindcasts and forecasts calculations were analyzed. The KORDI storm surge system consists of two important components. The first component is atmospheric models, based on US Army Corps of Engineers (CE) wind model and the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, and the second components is the KORDI-storm surge model (KORDI-S). The atmospheric inputs are calculated by the CE wind model for typhoon period and by the WRF model for non-typhoon period. The KORDI-S calculates the storm surges using the atmospheric inputs and has 3-step nesting grids with the smallest horizontal resolution of ${\sim}$300 m. The system runs twice daily for a 72-hour storm surge prediction. It successfully reproduced storm surge signals around the Korean Peninsula for a selection of four major typhoons, which recorded the maximum storm surge heights ranging from 104 to 212 cm. The operational capability of this system was tested for forecasts of Typhoon Nari in 2007 and a low-pressure event on August 27, 2009. This system responded correctly to the given typhoon information for Typhoon Nari. In particular, for the low-pressure event the system warned of storm surge occurrence approximately 68 hours ahead.

  • 공중급유 능력은 항공기의 임무시간 증대와 운용영역 확장을 제공함에 따라 많은 군용기에 적용 및 운영되어왔다. 피급유기가 지정된 급유기로부터 공중급유를 받기 위해서는 기술 및 운용호환성평가를 통해 공중급유허용을 확보해야 한다. 적합성 평가에는 공중급유 조종성, 기능성, 연료, 조명시스템 평가를 포함하고 있으며 비행시험을 통해 최종 검증된다. 그러나 한국에서는 신규개발항공기에 대한 공중급유 적합성 평가를 수행한 사례가 없기 때문에 시험 요구도, 범위 및 프로그램 규모를 결정하기 위한 경험이 없는 상황이다. 본 논문에서는 공중급유 유형 소개와 한국 공군에 도입된 Boom & Receptacle 시스템에 대한 고정익 항공기 공중급유 FCS (Flight Control System) OFP (operational flight program) 검증, 시스템 검증 및 영역 허용 관련 공중급유 비행시험 방법을 연구하였다.

  • The 30m, 3phase, 22.9kV HTS (High Temperature Superconducting) power cable system was produced by LS Cable Ltd. The project aims for a commercial HTS cable. The designing, the manufacturing and the initial operating of HTS cable system were completed by 2004. Then, we have performed a long term operational test since February, 2005. This paper mainly reports the result of the HTS cable cooling operation.

  • As an attempt to improve fog predictability at Incheon International Airport (IIA) we couple the 3D weather forecasting model currently operational in Korea Meteorological Administration (regional Unified Model, UM_RE) with a 1D turbulence model (PAFOG). The coupling is done by extracting the meteorological data from the 3D model and properly inserting them in the PAFOG model as initial conditions and external forcing. The initial conditions include surface temperature, 2 m temperature and dew point temperature, geostrophic wind at 850 hPa and vertical profiles of temperature and dew point temperature. Moisture and temperature advections are included as external forcing and updated every hr. To validate the performance of the coupled system, simulation results of the coupled system are compared to those of the 3D model alone for the 22 sea fog cases observed over the Yellow Sea. Three statistical indices, i.e., Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), linear correlation coefficient (R) and Critical Success Index (CSI), are examined, and they all indicate that the coupled system performs better than the 3D model alone. These are certainly promising results but more improvement is required before the coupled system can actually be used as an operational fog forecasting model. For the RMSE, R, and CSI values for the coupled system are still not good enough for operational fog forecast.

소요결정 이후의 무기체계 운용요구서(ORD) 작성 프레임 연구 (A Study on the Framework of Operational Requirements Document(ORD) for Weapons System after Requirements Decision)

  • Delivering the weapons system requirements of the military to the acquirer is an essential activity for the development of the defense industry as well as the successful acquisition of a weapons system. In order to ensure successful delivery of requirements, the creation of a weapons system Operational Requirements Document(ORD) has been mandated since 7. 2013. However, according to the results of a study which analyzes recently-created ORD, a number of problems are occurring. For one, some items in created ORDs differ from what the ORD template requires. In addition, the overall mission area of the weapons system to be acquired and the core parts(operation performance, system performance, and core performance) of ORD are being poorly recorded. In response, this study presented a framework(focused on a creating method of overall contents and core parts) for the creation of ORDs which can solve the problems that arose during ORD creation in the past.

네트워크 에뮬레이터기반 지휘통제시스템의 개발 (Development of a Command and Control System Based on Network Emulator)

  • 본 논문에서는 네트워크에뮬레이터를 활용한 지휘통제시스템의 시험환경 구성, 결과 및 설계반영사항에 대해 다룬다. 정보통신기술의 발달에 의한 정보교환능력과 연산능력의 강화는 네트워크중심전이라는 개념을 가져오게 되었는데, 네트워크중심전에서 무기체계사용자가 빠른 상황판단을 내려 적합한 명령을 내릴 수 있게 지원하는 것이 지휘통제 체계이다. 본문에서는 소프트웨어 기반 네트워크 에뮬레이터중 하나인 dummynet을 활용한 시험환경 구축을 설명하고, 개발된 지휘통제시스템의 운용개념을 요약하였다. 더 나아가 시험 케이스 및 결과에 대해 설명하고, 목표 통신망에서의 제약사항을 극복할 운용개념을 제시하였다. 제안한 방식을 활용하면 항적메시지와 같이 여러 단말기가 같은 데이터를 빠른 주기로 공유할 때 유통 데이터를 크게 감소시킬 것으로 기대된다.
