  • This simulation shows turbine trip on range mode, combined operation of 4 boilers and 5 turbines, for shoaiba desalination plant which is being operated in Saudi Arabia. In this model, unit master controller controls load demand, fuel and air flowrate to be consumed during operating of the plant. Feedwater controller controls drum level to compensate feedwater with superheater steam flow. This analysis was performed by constructing a dynamic model of the plant using ProTRAX and running it through the appropriate.

  • This paper presents a new control scheme using a sliding mode controller with a multilayer neural network for the robot manipulator operating under the sea which has large uncertainties such as the buoyancy and the added mass/moment of inertia. The multilayer neural network using the error back propagation loaming algorithm acts as a compensator of the conventional sliding mode controller to improve the control performance when the initial assumptions of uncertainty bounds are not valid. Computer simulation results show that the proposed control scheme gives an effective path way to cope with the unexpected large uncertainties in the underwater robot manipulator.

  • 영차 공진과 반파장 공진을 이용한 이중 모드 Inductor loaded 패치 안테나의 방사 특성을 연구하였다. 반파장 공진 모드에서 수평방향으로의 방사 이득을 최소화시키는 동시에 전방 방사 이득을 향상시켜 영차 공진 모드 방사 패턴과의 격리도를 향상시켰다. 이중 모드 inductor loaded 패치 안테나 기판의 유전상수가 작을수록, 안테나의 동작 주파수 대역이 높을수록 두 모드 간의 공진 주파수 간격이 증가함을 확인하였다.

  • A block replacement policy using items with different reliability is discussed. We devide system unit failure modes into two modes and use less reliable unit when operating unit fails near the planned preventive replacement time. In this policy, item A has two failure modes. Mode-1 failure is removed by minimal repair, mode-2 failure by replacement. If mode-2 failure of item A happens in (0,T- $\delta$). failure item A is replaced by new item A. If mode-2 failure of item A happens in(T-$\delta$,T), failure item A is replaced by new item B. Item B should be cheaper and less durable than item A. Under this policy, we determine the preventive replacement interval T and the interval $\delta$ of item B replacement which minimize the cost rate per unit time.

  • As the packing density of ICs in recent submicron IC design increases, interconnects gain importance. Because interconnects directly affect on two major components of circuit performance, power dissipation and operating speed, circuit engineers are concerned with the optimal design of interconnects and the aid tool to design them. When circuit models of interconnects are given (including geometry and material information), the analysis process for the given structure is not an easy task, but conversely, it is much more difficult to design an interconnect structure with given circuit characteristics. This paper focuses on the latter process that has not been foucsed on much till now due to the complexity of the problem, and prsents a design aid tool(DATOIS) to synthesize interconnects. this tool stroes the circuit performance parameters for normalized interconnect geometries, and has two oeprational modes:analysis mode and synthesis mode. In the analysis mode, circuit performance parameters are obtained by searching the internal database for a given geometry and interpolates results if necessary . In thesynthesis mode, when a given circuit performance parameter satisfies a set of geometry condition in the database, those geometry structures are printed out.

  • H-mode or X-mode predominates in marine engines according to the number of cylinder. Generally, H-mode noticeably happen in the engine below 7-cylinder and X-mode remarkably happen above 8-cylinder in the engine operating range. Until now, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) of 3D engine model has been mainly used to estimate the engine vibration but it is very time consuming for simulation and difficult to model simplification. Furthermore, the accuracy of simulation shows a marked difference according to modeling method. Therefore it is very difficult to have contentable result from FEA for beginners and laymen. In this paper, the estimation method based on a test has been suggested to solve the difficulty.

  • 본 논문에서는 종래부터 연구되어 왔던 SS(Spread Specturm) 통신방식을 재검토하고 그의 문제점을 제기한 다음 해결방법의 하나로 PNCPM(Pseudo Noise Code Polarity Modulation) 방식을 제안하였다. 그리고 제안된 PNCPM 방식이 비동기검파방식에서 간단한 하드웨어(Hardware) 구성으로 데이터를 후레임(Frame)마다 쉽게 복조할 수 있음을 나타내고 CCD(Charge Couled Device) 상관기에 변복조방식과 장치구성 및 SSMA(Spread Spectrum Multiple Acces)에 응용하는 것을 제안하였다.

진동모드에 따른 각종 장갑의 방진효과 분석 (An Analysis of Vibration Attenuation Effect of the different type of Gloves and Drilling Mode)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the vibration attenuation effects of the different type of gloves and drilling mode while operating a light-weighted powered hand drill. For the experimental design, five different kinds of glove(barehanded cotton partly coated anti-vibration, and open-finger vibration glove) two types of push force level(100N and 200N) and two types of drilling mode(impact and non-impulsive) were considered. Six healthy male subjects were employed to drive screws into a vertically mounted marble plate with a powered hand drill in a randomly ordered experimental conditions. The findings of this study are summarized as follows; (1) It was found that the best combination of overall BMS transmissibility was using impact drilling mode with anti-vibration glove among evaluated experimental conditions (2) The wearing open finger vibration glove in mid-frequency level and anti-vibration glove with impact drill in high-frequency were the best in the result from mean corrected transmissibility equation of ISO 10819.

Performance of Double Fed Induction Machine at Sub- and Super-Synchronous Speed in Wind Energy Conversion System

  • In this paper two modes of operating a wound rotor induction machine as a generator at sub-and super-synchronous speeds in wind energy conversion systems are investigated. In the first mode, known as double fed induction generator (DFIG), the rotor circuit is fed from the ac mains via a controlled rectifier and a forced commutated inverter. Adjusting the applied rotor voltage magnitude and phase leads to machine operation as a generator at sub-synchronous speeds. In the second mode, the machine is operated in a slip recovery scheme where the slip energy is fed back to the ac mains via a rectifier and line commutated inverter. This mode is described as double output induction generator (DOIG) leading to increase the efficiency of the wind-to electrical energy conversion system. Simulated results of both modes are presented. Experimental verification of the simulated results are presented for the DOIG mode of operation, showing larger amount of power captured and better power factor when compared to conventional induction generators.

  • This paper presents a new structure for a piezoelectric transformer, operating in thickness extensional vibration mode. Modified $PbTiO_3$ family ceramics were used for the piezoelectric transformer, because it was a material with large anisotropy between elecromechanical coupling factors $K_t$ and $K_p$ . The size of piezoelectric transformer was 20mn long, 20mm wide and 3.1mm thick. The second harmonic resonant frequency of thickness extensional vibration mode was 0.72MHz at loading resistance 100[$\omega$], And Voltage gin of piezoelectric ceramics showed 0.53 at resonant frequency of sencond thickness extensional vibration mode.
