A Recursive Algorithm for Generating the Equations of Motion of Spatial Mechanical Systems with Application to the Five-Point Suspension

  • In this paper, a recursive formulation for generating the equations of motion of spatial mechanical systems is presented. The rigid bodies are replaced by a dynamically equivalent constrained system of particles which avoids introducing any rotational coordinates. For the open-chain system, the equations of motion are generated recursively along the serial chains using the concepts of linear and angular momenta Closed-chain systems are transformed to open-chain systems by cutting suitable kinematic joints and introducing cut-joint constraints. The formulation is used to carry out the dynamic analysis of multi-link five-point suspension. The results of the simulation demonstrate the generality and simplicity of the proposed dynamic formulation.

  • This paper proposes a Product Data Management (PDM) system architecture that supports end-user computing for small and medium businesses (SMBs) in Korea to build and maintain efficient and sustainable information systems for their product development. Its open database with relational tables enables existing common application programs such as Microsoft office suites to access product data in PDM systems. In addition, the interactive query processor provided by database management systems helps design engineers to build ad hoc queries in standard SQL database language to response different data requirements during their product development. The PDM architecture with the open database allows design engineers or technical staffs in SMBs to build and maintain their application programs for product development by themselves. To show the feasibility of the proposed architecture, this study implemented a prototype PDM system based on the architecture and database, and represents real-world product data with the implemented PDM system.

  • The government supports the various systems on the premise of life-long education for improving the qualification of its people and supporting the lifelong career system. These systems help the educational activities for every generation from the teens. Each government department supports the learning activities for those who are related. In addition, each government department systemizes the regular education for advancing the performance of civil servant, by obliging a self-directed system to their member as well as by reflecting this educational activities in a promotion. This style of learning is provided not only offline but also online. However, not all necessary educational contents is furnished within the department. It is sometimes necessary to cooperate with the commissioned education and a professional educational institution. This thesis suggests three model systems while comparing one another. This paper suggests three system model. The first model is e-contents open place. The second model is e-contents open place. Finally, the suggest model is mixed form.

  • Lots of automation equipments and robots have been developed and been used. But most control systems have been developed as dedicated systems rather than general-purpose systems. Thus, users cannot modify or improve their software including GUI. In this paper, an open architecture GUI is proposed in order to make it easy to modify some functions of GUI or to add some functions of GUI. The format of all menu is similar as in previous systems, but some menu can be deleted and be added. Also some menu can be defined by users.

  • The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) system has been mainly used for military domains, but it also widely applied to used in the civilian domains. In civilian domains, low-cost and small-sized UAV systems are mainly applied in various industries. The software that operates UAV systems has a lot of common functions. However, even though there are many common functionalities of the software, changing the devices may cause a problem requiring software modification. These problems degrade interoperability, modularity and portability in UAV systems. In order to solve the problems, an Open System Architecture(OSA) has been proposed. In this paper, we propose a UAV system software architecture based on Future Airborne Capability Environment(FACE) standard. Our system can support UAV systems of various platforms in the civilian domains, which is supplied in small quantity batch production. And it has the advantages of software consolidation and portability. Finally, We describe the development and conformant methodology of the software based on the FACE standard using open development tools.

  • An open sharing market is a market providing a sharing business. It provides open sharing services handling various products, unlike existing sharing services providing specific products. Sharing under an open sharing market can include all products that are difficult for customers to deal with, and provides fluidity of trade through negotiating sharing periods and costs among sharers. There are many variant elements when you provide sharing services for various products. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an extensible architecture that can reflect the variant elements in open sharing markets. We expect the proposed architecture can continuously improve the extensibility of sharing services for various products, because we design sharing services as components to efficiently manage and provide various sharing services, and provide dynamic binding of variant elements.

Implementing a set of Direct3D Functions on OpenGL (OpenGL을 이용한 Direct3D 기능의 구현)

  • In this paper, we present an emulation library for the essential features and their API function calls provided by Direct3D, the most actively used API for computer game-related application programs on the MS-Windows-based desktop's, with OpenGL library in the Linux environment. In typical Linux-based systems, only the X window system and OpenGL graphics library are available. There are lots of needs for this kind of emulation library to convert the Direct3D-based game applications and user interfaces on these systems. Through carefully selecting the essential API functions from the DirectX version 9.0, we obtained the prototype implementation of that emulation library, to finally get the final full-scale DirectX implementation. Our implementation currently covers 3D coordinate transformations, light and material processing, texture mapping, simple animation features and more. We showed its feasibility through successfully executing a set of Direct3D demonstration programs including a real-world game character animation on our implementation.

  • This paper addresses the performance of three different types of attitude control systems for the Quad-rotor UAV to perform the flip maneuver. For this purpose, Quad-rotor UAV's 6-DOF dynamic model is derived, and it was used for designing an attitude controller of the Quad-rotor UAV. Attitude controllers are designed by three different methods. One is the open-loop control system design, another is the PD control system design, and the last method is the sliding mode control system design. Performances of all controllers are tested by 6-DOF simulation. In case of the open-loop control system, control inputs are calculated by the quad-rotor dynamic model and thrust system model that are identified by the thrust test. The 6-DOF realtime simulation environment was constructed in order to verify the performances of attitude controllers.

Optimal Pricing Strategies for Open Source Support Providers

  • The market for commercial open source software (OSS) has been rapidly growing with the proliferation of OSS. One way to commercialize OSS is the support model, which has been adopted by leading OSS firms such as Red Hat and JBoss. Despite the growing interest in OSS commercialization, little research has provided OSS support providers with a pricing guideline. In this paper, we examine the optimal pricing strategies for OSS support providers. Our benchmark is a monopoly case in which we investigate a startup software vendor's incentive to choose the OSS support regime over the proprietary one. Then we extend the model to a duopoly case in which OSS under the support regime competes against proprietary software. We characterize the conditions under which the OSS support model is viable under competition. We believe that our results offer insights to the OSS vendors who consider commercializing their OSS with a support model.

  • In this paper, an open architecture control system for automated container cranes is investigated. The hardware architecture for automating cranes is first discussed. A standard reference model for cranes based upon the OSACA platform is proposed, in which three modules are suggested: hardware module, operating system module, and application software module. Finally, a hybrid control system combining deliberative and reactive controls for autonomous operations of the cranes is implemented.
