A New Role of Media Center for Open Education (열린학습공간으로서의 미디어 센타의 새로운 역할)

  • Open education has been established for 10 years in Korea. In spite of relatively long history of open education, there are only two schools which have well structured open space to support open education. Development of open curriculm and open space is a vital elements for the success of open education. This study aims at introducing the concept and development of open space and analyze the role of media center to improve open education. Especially emphasis is placed on how the open space should be organized for the effective open education. The open space should include 4 areas such as instructional area, production area, storage area and teachers' area. There are, however, no standardized format for the open space and education. Open space should be flexibly restructured to adapt to rapidly changing educational environment.

  • This study aims to suggest guidelines of open classroom in open elementary school. It consists of following three parts. The first part takes a theoretical review of open education and open classroom. And the second makes analysis of architectural characteristics of open classroom as case studies which are analyzed in terms of modul, function and ratio of open space, etc. The last part is user need analysis of the open space.

  • OpenMP is an attractive parallel programming model for a chip multiprocessor because there is no standard parallel programming method for a chip multiprocessor and it is easy to write a parallel program in OpenMP. Then, chip multiprocessor systems can have various architectures according to target application programs. So, we need to implement OpenMP in different way for each system. In this paper, we propose the implementation and the effective translation of major OpenMP directives for a chip multiprocessor without using OS to improve the performance without using special hardware and without extending the OpenMP directives. We present the experimental results on our target platform CT3400.

  • The purpose of this paper is to define and study some new classes of sets by using nano operation namely, ζ-nano regular open, ζ-nano open, ζ-nano α-open, ζ-nano pre-open, ζ-nano semi-open, ζ-nano b-open and ζ-nano β-open in nano topology. Some properties and the relationships between these sets and the related concepts are investigated. Also, we found the deciding factors for the most common disease fever.

  • OpenAPI와 매쉬업(Mashup)은 현재 발전해가고 있는 웹 2.0을 이루는 중요한 기술이다. OpenAPI의 수는 기하급수적으로 증가하고 있기 때문에, OpenAPI에 대한 검색시스템은 반드시 필요하게 되었다. 대표적인 OpenAPI 검색은 Programmableweb과 Popfly에서 제공하고 있으며, 이들의 제한점을 보완한 OpenAPI 검색 시스템이 연구되고 있다. OpenAPI 검색 시스템은 웹서비스 검색 시스템을 확장하여 개발되었지만, 다양한 OpenAPI의 프로토콜을 지원하지 못한다. 따라서 본 논문은 효과적인 OpenAPI 검색 시스템에서 OpenAPI의 다양한 프로토콜을 포함할 수 있는 통합 정보모델을 구축을 목표로 한다. 개발된 OpenAPI 통합모델은 OpenAPI 및 매쉬업 가능 서비스 검색에 활용될 수 있다.

An Open Science 'State of the Art' for Hong Kong: Making Open Research Data Available to Support Hong Kong Innovation Policy

  • Open Science is an umbrella term that involves various movements aiming to remove the barriers to sharing any kind of output, resources, methods or tools at any stage of the research process. While the study of open science is relatively advanced in Western countries, we know of no scholarship that attempts to understand open science in Hong Kong. This paper provides a broad-based background on the major research data management organisations, policies and institutions with the intention of laying a foundation for more rigorous future research that quantifies the benefits of open access and open data policies. We explore the status and prospects for open science (open access and open data) in the context of Hong Kong and how open science can contribute to innovation in Hong Kong. Surveying Hong Kong's policies and players, we identify both lost research potential and provide positive examples of Hong Kong's contribution to scientific research. Finally, we offer suggestions regarding what changes can be made to address the gaps we identify.

  • OGC(Open GIS Consortium) suggests the 'OpenGIS Simple Feature Specification for CORBA' which is the OpenGIS implementation specification for CORBA to specify standard interfaces for reuse and interoperation among distributed heterogeneous GIS resources in the CORBA distributed computing environment. An OpenGIS server that supports this implementation specification moat correctly implement all interfaces defined in the OpenGIS implementation specification to be interoperable with wrapped GISs efficiently. In this paper, we have designed and implemented an OpenGIS server based an object relational GIS, called GEUS that integrates GIS and database technologies to provide spatial data types and spatial operators from the DBMS engine level. In the CORBA distributed computing environment, clients can access geospatial data stored in GIS wrapped by the OpenGIS server through the standard interfaces defined in the OpenGIS implementation specification for CORBA. In addition, clients can use geospatial operation features provided by a back-end GIS and interoperate with other GISs.

  • OpenCV is a programming language used in digital image processing and computer vision. In this study, look at media arts made using OpenCV programming language and find out about the utilization possibilities. To this end, the first, look at OpenCV functions that are frequently used in media art, the examples of utilizing the functions. The second, discuss media arts using OpenCV. focused on the OpenCV functions, programming language for an production of media art. The third, analyze features of media arts using OpenCV, mainly focused on the functions and programming languages. The study may provide guidance to the artists to produce a media art using the OpenCV or programming language.

Searching for the Directions of Open Mathematics Education (열린수학교육의 방향 탐색)

  • This study aims to reflect the origin and the meaning of open education and to derive pedagogical principles for open mathematics education. Open education originates from Socrates who was the founder of discovery learning and has been developed by Locke, Rousseau, Froebel, Montessori, Dewey, Piaget, and so on. Thus open education is based on Humanism and Piaget's psychology. The aim of open education consists in developing potentials of children. The characteristics of open education can be summarized as follows: open curriculum, individualized instruction, diverse group organization and various instruction models, rich educational environment, and cooperative interaction based on open human relations. After considering the aims and the characteristics of open education, this study tries to suggest the aims and the directions for open mathematics education according to the philosophy of open education. The aim of open mathematics education is to develop mathematical potentials of children and to foster their mathematical appreciative view. In order to realize the aim, this study suggests five pedagogical principles. Firstly, the mathematical knowledge of children should be integrated by structurizing. Secondly, exploration activities for all kinds of real and concrete situations should be starting points of mathematics learning for the children. Thirdly, open-ended problem approach can facilitate children's diverse ways of thinking. Fourthly, the mathematics educators should emphasize the social interaction through small-group cooperation. Finally, rich educational environment should be provided by offering concrete and diverse material. In order to make open mathematics education effective, some considerations are required in terms of open mathematics curriculum, integrated construction of textbooks, autonomy of teachers and inquiry into children's mathematical capability.

  • Can we use the open innovation paradigm in Korean economy? Can Korea move from imitative national innovation system to Creative national innovation system without open innovation paradigm? We are looking for preliminary answers about these questions. In this paper, first of all, we review the theoretical factors of open innovation originated from professor Chesbrough, try to find out the limit of the theory, and propose the possibility of extending of open innovation from company to industrial sector, region and cluster, and national innovation system. We also review the user innovation models from Von Hippel and open business models. Second, we review the Korea open innovation cases according to the categories like as company, sector, cluster and regional innovation system, and national innovation system. Third, we prepose the theoretical and realistic implications, and next research agenda about Korea open innovation.
