Korean personal data(information) protection law requires privacy policies post on every website. According to recent survey results, users' interests on these policies are low due to these policies' low readability and accessibility. This study proposes a layout that effectively conveys online privacy policy contents, and assesses its impact on information understandability, vividness, and recognition of users. Studies on privacy policies and layouts, media richness theory, social presence theory, and usability are used to develop the new layered approach. Using experiments, three major layouts are evaluated by randomly selected online users. Research results shows that information understandability, vividness, and recognition of privacy policies in the revised-layered approach are higher than those of in the text-only or table-based layouts. This study implies that employing visual guides like icons on privacy policy layouts may increase users' interest in those policies.

The core of contents monetization is the consumer's willingness to pay. In the past, the terrestrial contents can be used through the frequency for free. As the terrestrial contents use via online services has been increased, the importance of willingness to pay for the broadcasting contents is getting bigger. To find critical factors which can influence on the willingness to pay for the terrestrial contents, independent factors are categorized into three. The independent factors are users' awareness for copyright protection, contents characteristics, and platform characteristics. The results show that attitude for paying, subjective norms for copyright protection, rapid providing of contents, quality of service, social critical point, and expected service value are found out as significant factors. This result implies that it is necessary to enhance platform competitiveness to survive in convergence environment and customer relationships should be reinforced to maintain them as loyal customers.

Conducting Focus Group Interview (FGI), this study examined the roles and discourses of cryptocurrency's online communities and media (legacy media and YouTube), and based on this, the study proposed the direction of cryptocurrency policy. By reviewing previous literature, this study analyzed the characteristics of investors, the online community, and YouTube, which is an investment environment factor. The study figured out the purpose of use and role of the community via interviews with cryptocurrency professional investors and online community members and analyzed main discussion themes of the five top-ranked YouTube channels related to cryptocurrency with the highest number of subscribers. The results suggested that cryptocurrency's investment was led by those who are in their 20s and 30s, the investors preferred and trusted information on new media than legacy media. The online community played the role of emotional homogeneity and empathy, and YouTube mainly performed the informational role. As a result of discourse analysis and interviews, this study argued that the legal stability of cryptocurrency's policy and protection of individual investors are needed. This study's significance indicates that it used various research methods such as literature research, interviews, content analysis of community/YouTube to analyze the informational role and emotional aspects of new media and suggested policy direction of the digital new deal blockchain technology and the fairness of financial industry.

Although the primary liability for online copyright infringement may fall on the individual who illegally copies, transfers, and/or distributes the copyrighted content, the issue of indirect liability for Online Service Providers (OSPS) that provide a channel for the distribution of illegal content has recently come under the spotlight. Currently, in an effort to avoid liability for indirect copyright infringement and improve their reputation, most OSPs have voluntarily applied filtering technology. Under the Copyright Act of Korea, special types of OSPS including P2P and Web-based Hard Drive (WebHard) are required to incorporate filtering technology, and may be charged with penalties if found without one. However, despite the clear need for filtering mechanisms, several arguments have been set forth that question the efficacy and appropriateness of the system. As such, this paper discusses the liability theory adopted in the US. -a leader in internet technology development-and analyzes the scope of liability and filtering related regulations in our copyright law. In addition, this paper considers the current applications of filtering as well as limits of the applied filtering technology in OSPS today. Finally, we make four suggestions to improve filtering in Korea, addressing issues such as clarifying the limits and responsibilities of OSPS, searching for cooperative solutions between copyright holders and OSPS, standardizing the filtering technology to enable compatibility among different filtering techniques, and others.

This study is expected to be of significance in that it attempted to examine the personal information protection awareness of college students and the state of their personal information protection as prospective information processors and private information owners to boost their will to put private information protection in practice. As a result of making an analysis, the most common average time that the students spent in doing every online activity on weekdays was fewer than two or three hours, and the most dominant activities that they did over the Internet were for entertainment or hobbies. As for awareness of the nature of the Internet, they looked upon it as a quite open public space. Regarding the state of private information protection, they thought that changing passwords on a regular basis would be beneficial to personal information protection, and many thought that it's needed to withdraw from or shut down web sites that weren't used for a long time. In terms of actual practice, however, they didn't change their e-mail passwords regularly on the grounds that it's a hassle, and even the students who had experience of personal information leakage didn't report it or didn't ask for counsel on the grounds that they didn't want to be bothered as well. The majority of the students weren't cognizant of how to report or seek counsel. In the future, personal information protection should be educated on a continual basis as part of curriculum to raise awareness of it among students and boost their will to practice it with a sense of responsibility in an effort to prevent the occurrence of collateral damages triggered by personal information leakage.

Recently, with the diversification of media services and the development of smart devices, users have more opportunities to use digital content, such as movies, dramas, and music; consequently, the size of the copyright market expands simultaneously. However, there are piracy sites that generate revenue by illegal use of copyrighted works. This has led to losses for copyright holders, and the scale of copyrighted works infringed due to the ever-increasing number of piracy sites has increased. To prevent this, government agencies respond to copyright infringement by monitoring piracy sites using online monitoring and countermeasure strategies for infringement. However, the detection and blocking process consumes a significant amount of time when compared to the rate of generating new piracy sites. Hence, online monitoring is less effective. Additionally, given that piracy sites are sophisticated and refined in the same way as legitimate sites, it is necessary to accurately distinguish and block a site that is involved in copyright infringement. Therefore, in this study, we analyze features of piracy sites and based on this analysis, we propose an intelligent detection technique for piracy sites that automatically classifies and detects whether a site is involved in infringement.

Online and mobile games represent digital entertainment. Not only the game grows fast, but also it has been noted for unique business models such as a subscription revenue model and free-to-play with partial payment. But, a recent revenue mechanism, called a loot-box system, has been criticized due to overspending, weak protection to teenagers, and more over gambling-like features. Policy makers and research communities have counted on expert opinions, review boards, and temporal survey studies to build countermeasures to minimize negative effects of online and mobile games. In this process, speed was not seriously considered. In this study, we attempt to use a big data source to find a way of observing a trend for policy makers and researchers. Specifically, we tried to apply the Word2Vec data mining algorithm to news repositories. From the findings, we acknowledged that the suggested design would be effective in lightening issues timely and precisely. This study contributes to digital entertainment service communities by providing a practical method to follow up trends; thus, helping practitioners have concrete grounds for balancing public concerns and business purposes.

This study investigates how consumers perceive the collection of behavioral information through 'cookies' on OTT platforms and the impact it has on personalized services. Through SPSS analysis on 120 consumers, which was conducted to examine four hypotheses, correlations were found between awareness of OTT companies' behavioral information collection and online tracking recognition, awareness and willingness to provide cookies, and the extent of confirming behavioral information collection terms during registration and online tracking recognition. The study concludes that consumer knowledge about behavioral information significantly influences the importance and intention to use personalized services, highlighting the need for regulatory measures by both companies and government entities.

The Korea Copyright Commission has pursued copyright technology R&D projects to prevent illegal copying of comics and Webtoons. We developed a feature-based scanned comic filtering technology in order to apply technical measures to specific types of online service providers. We also developed technologies in order to monitor and identify illegally distributed comics on webhard sites and to monitor and identify illegally distributed webtoons. Even though all comic books posted on webhard sites are illegal, it is no trouble to download and access popular comics by accessing websites in foreign countries. Even under these circumstances, the comic and webtoon copyright protection technologies developed over the past six years have been used at all. In this paper, we examine what the problems are and find solutions to propose a copyright protection method for webtoons.

Purpose: Due to the stringency of regulations related to clinical research, researchers face various requirements in the Institutional Review Board (IRB) review process. Specifically, they encounter time constraints and administrative burdens. In order to cultivate a more favorable review culture and establish a robust research environment, it is necessary to analyze researchers' perceptions of the IRB review. Therefore, this study aims to assess researchers' overall experiences with the IRB and identify researchers' educational needs and demands for research-related policies. Methods: A semistructured questionnaire with 34 items was developed and refined in consultation with advisors from IRB and Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). The questionnaire was distributed via an online survey to researchers with experience in IRB review. The survey covered general characteristics, satisfaction with the IRB review process (rated on a 10-point scale), experiences with IRB review, HRPP policy demands. Results: The study's descriptive statistics revealed a moderate satisfaction level (average rating, 6.75 out of 10) with the IRB review. Researchers from clinical medicine and other disciplines showed similar satisfaction scores of 6.65 and 6.87, respectively. However, respondents with over 5 years of research experience expressed higher satisfaction (mean score, 7.03) compared to those with less experience (mean score, 6.57). Institutional support was emphasized for improving the IRB review process. Certain training topics generated higher demands for addressing frequently raised IRB issues among minor discipline researchers compared to clinical medicine (p=0.017). Conclusion: We conducted an analysis of researchers' perceptions regarding the IRB as well as their demands concerning educational and HRPP policies. It is imperative to address the pinpointed areas for enhancement and integrate a range of perspectives in order to effectively cultivate a robust research ethics culture and ensure comprehensive participant protection.
