  • Online education is moving forward with more interactive environments due to the availability of new technologies. In addition, many researches have represented that interaction and high motivation are very critical factors in order to improve students' motivation and teaching effectiveness in online learning and education. Therefore, it is very meaningful for students and educators that motivation and effectiveness are observed by positive expectation and interaction satisfaction in their online counseling courses. For this study, two important instruments are used: Modified Short Forms of Instructional Materials Motivation Survey and Student Evaluation of Online Teaching Effectiveness. Results show that high expected students who are satisfied with interaction indicate higher motivation and evaluation on the online teaching effectiveness than low expected students who are not satisfied with interaction.

  • This study was to confirm whether students' evaluation of online teaching effectiveness (SEOTE) was significantly predicted by Instructional Material Motivation Survey (IMMS) and Literacy of Learning Management System (LLMS). It was also to examine whether LLMS had a significant mediating effect between IMMS and SEOTE. Pearson correlation, multiple-regression, and mediated regression analysis were used. Participants were online college students in South Korea. A total of 210 students meaningfully responded to the Google Drive web-survey via the internet of three scales: IMMS, LLMS, and SEOTE. This study revealed that motivation had a significant effect on SEOTE (r=.78, p<.01). There was a significant positive correlation between LLMS and SEOTE (r=.64, p<.01). In addition, motivation and LLMS were significant predictors that influenced the prediction of SEOTE. The overall model of IMMS and LLMS significantly predicted SEOTE, explaining 31.4% variance in SEOTE. This study used mediated regression analysis to determine whether there was a significant mediating effect of LLMS between IMMS and SEOTE. As LLMS was added between IMMS and SEOTE, the β coefficient of motivation was decreased. Models of IMMS and LLMS significantly influenced the prediction of SEOTE. LLMS showed a significant mediating effect by influencing the prediction of SEOTE by IMMS according to the method of Baron and Kenny (1986). Consequently, meaningful parameter of LLMS showed a significant indirect or mediating effect with IMMS in predicting SEOTE.

  • Online and offline mixed teaching mode has become an important way to promote the connotative development of higher education. Under the background that offline teaching has become mature, in order to further promote the development of online education, and promote the implementation of the mixed teaching mode, to mix and to provide basis for the construction of the mixed teaching mode, this study takes the online learning effect as the evaluation basis, adopts the online questionnaire survey to conduct statistical analysis of the online learning behavior of 2213 college students, and discusses the differentiation phenomenon of online learning groups from the micro, meso and macro perspectives. It is found that there are significant differences in the online learning effect of college students in terms of the type of learning platform, whether the school implements the online offline mixed teaching mode, education background, grade (bachelor's degree), and region. Colleges and universities should strengthen the promotion of online and offline mixed teaching mode; The online learning platform should improve the platform function and strengthen the functional differentiation design of learning resources for students. Education departments pay attention to the learning effect of online learners in different regions, and bridge the gap in regional education.

  • In post-COVID-19 pandemic era, students' learning effects and experience may sharply decrease when teaching is transferred from offline to online. Several tools suitable for online teaching have been developed to guarantee and promote students' learning effects. However, they cannot fully consider teacher-student interaction in online teaching. To figure out this issue, this paper proposes integrated media platform-based virtual office hours implementation for online teaching. Specifically, an integrated media platform (IMP) is first constructed. Then, virtual office hours (VOH) is implemented based on the IMP, aiming at increasing student-teacher interactions. For evaluating the effectiveness of this scheme, 140 undergraduate students using IMP are divided into one control group and three experimental groups that respectively contain text, voice and video modes. The experiment results indicate that applying VOH in the IMP can improve students' online presence and test scores. Furthermore, students' participating modes during VOH implementation can largely affect their degree of presence, which can be well classified by using principal component analysis. The implication of this work is that IMP-based VOH is an effective and sustainable tool to be continuously implemented even when the COVID-19 pandemic period ends.

  • The hybrid teaching approach of "MOOC + SPOC + Flipped Classroom" overcomes the constraints of time and space that are typically associated with traditional teaching methods, thus compensating for the shortcomings of traditional approaches. These changes in education are driven by the "Internet+" wave and the growing popularity of online teaching. The "MOOC + SPOC + Flipped Classroom" hybrid teaching mode can successfully compensate for the drawbacks of traditional teaching methods, thereby overcoming their restrictions. By defining relevant concepts, one can distill the key characteristics of the "MOOC + SPOC + Flipped Classroom" hybrid teaching mode. Formative assessment was employed to thoroughly evaluate the effectiveness of this teaching approach. By leveraging the advantages of massive open online course (MOOC), small private online course (SPOC), and flipped classroom, the "MOOC +SPOC + Flipped Classroom" teaching mode incorporates real-time student assessment through peer evaluation, computer-aided evaluation, and teacher evaluation. This mode promotes the simultaneous development of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, helping students to establish strong foundations while fostering their practical abilities. While the traditional teaching method remains fruitful, the convenience of today's network allows the teaching profession to continually evolve. The traditional teaching mode heavily relies on teachers, making it impossible to conduct lessons without them. However, the development of MOOC enables students to seek knowledge online from their preferred teachers, rather than solely relying on their assigned instructors.

  • Little has been known about the process of the language teacher professional development. The present study aims to investigate an assumption that anybody who has subject matter knowledge will be a good language teacher. A teacher with rich linguistic knowledge started to question the effectiveness of his online class. The teacher, in collaboration with a teacher trainer, became involved in the critical examination of his online class, seeking for more effective ways of teaching. The trainer provided the teacher with clinical supervision, which is characterized as developmental, collaborative, non-judgemental, interactive, and teacher-centered. The data collected at the multi-facets of the online teaching shows how the process of the teacher's decision-making became principled on the basis of recent developments in English language teaching, and how the teacher has gained pedagogical knowledge through reflection upon his teaching. The feedback from the students reveals that such teacher professional development is beneficial to student learning. These findings suggest that language teacher's professional development can take place when they are engaged in reflective teaching and classroom investigation. It is also suggested that the process of teacher development can be enhanced through collaborative supervision with trust, openness and congeniality between parties involved.
