  • The researches about energy efficieny of wireless sensor MAC protocol is an issue in present days. Therefore, MAC and routing protocols for reducing energy consumption at sensor nodes is needed. In this study, a low-power MAC protocol for sensor network is proposed, which in based on X-MAC by exploiting virtual synchronization. The virtual synchronization technique lets senders postpone packet transmission until receivers' wake-up time, so that senders transmit only one or two short preambles. Using NS-2, a proposed MAC protocol improve the energy efficiency by 10% compared with the X-MAC protocol.

  • The communication in wireless sensor network is divided into several layers, because of each of them do their role, the wireless communication is possible, the MAC (Medium Access Control) layer of the one of sensor network communications layer is used to the data errors, control flow, and manage resources. Using MAC Protocol, it ensures the communication between sensor node. In this paper, highlighted the energy efficiency of the S-MAC, T-MAC protocol it emphasized the efficiency of energy by lessening the woken time of all nods effectively, transmitting and receiving the control packet on only necessary nods through use of a method that RTS packet is added to SYNC packet and making other nods sleep. On sending SYNC+RTS packet and receiving the packet, nod noticed that it wasn't necessary to be awaked on this period, would be in Sleep mode, demonstrated mathematically that energy is more effective than existing protocol, and simulated with MATLAB.

  • In this paper, WiMedia Distributed-MAC protocol is adopted for development of an OSMU (One Source Multi Use) N-screen wireless multicast service. But, when considering wireless communication environment where channel error rate is time-variant, N-screen high-speed data is vulnerable to be lost. For this problem, a multicast relay scheme is proposed by analyzing Distributed-MAC protocol. In proposed multicast relay scheme, Multicast-free DRP Availability IE is combined and the relay node suitable for N-screen multicast transmissions is selected. Through this operation, it can avoid wireless channel with high errors and can transmit N-screen high-speed data. In simulation results, the proposed multicast relay scheme is compared with conventional Distributed-MAC multicast scheme in view points of throughput and energy consumption according to various numbers of multicast nodes and BER (Bit Error Rate) values in wireless channel. Through simulation results, it is explained that proposed multicast relay scheme should be adopted in WiMedia Distributed-MAC protocol to realize OSMU N-screen wireless multicast services.

  • In this paper, a WiMedia Distributed-MAC (D-MAC) protocol is adopted for development of a seamless N-screen wireless service in Indoor and Ship Area Networks. Furthermore, to provide the OSMU (One Source Multi Use) N-screen service through P2P streaming in the seamless D-MAC protocol, a ATMT (Asynchronous Traffic Multi-hop Transmission) technology is proposed and analyzed. In this system, a WiMedia ATMT D-MAC bridge transmits control and managing information to various sensors and instruments, from a central integrated ship area network station. For this technology, a time slot allocation scheme for WiMedia asynchronous traffic and a multi-hop resource reservation scheme are combined to evaluate the performance of each scheme. From simulation results, the proposed ATMT scheme enhances performances in viewpoints of N-screen asynchronous data latency and throughput, compared to the conventional WiMedia D-MAC system.

  • The ID/password method is the most classical method among authentication techniques on the internet, and is performed more easily and successfully than other methods. However, it is a vulnerable method against attacks such as eavesdropping or replay attack. To overcome this problem, OTP technique is used. The most popular OTP is HOTP algorithm, which is based on one-way hash function SHA-1. As recent researches show the weakness of the hash function, we need a new algorithm to replace HOTP. In this paper we propose a new OTP algorithm using the MAC(Message Authentication Code) based on AES. We also show that the new OTP outperforms HOTP experimentally.

  • In ubiquitous environment, sensor networks that sense and transmit surrounding data without human intervention will become more important. If sensors are installed for detecting vehicles and measuring their speed in the road and that real-time information is given to drivers, it will be very effective for enhancing safety and controlling traffic in the road. In this paper, we proposed a new reliable and real-time sensor MAC protocol between AP and sensor nodes in order to provide real-time traffic flow information based on ubiquitous sensor networks. The proposed MAC allocates one TDMA slot for each sensor node on the IEEE 802.15.4 based channel structure, introduces relayed communication for distant sensors, and adopts a frame structure that supports retransmission for the case of errors. In addition, the proposed MAC synchronizes with AP by using beacon and adopts a hybrid tracking mode that supports economic power consumption according to various traffic situations, We implemented a simulator for the proposed MAC by using sim++ and evaluated various performances. The simulation results show that the proposed MAC reduces the power consumption and reveals excellent performance in real-time application systems.

  • In the evolution from wireless sensor networks(WSNs) to ubiquitous sensor networks(USNs), technologies that can support intensive data-traffic loads, large number of users, improved interoperability, and extreme longevity are required. Therefore, efficient communication time coordination control and low power consumption becomes one of the most important design goals for USN MAC protocols. So far several time division multiplexed (TDM) MAC protocols have been proposed. However, since the pros and cons of existing protocols are not easy to analyze, it becomes a challenging task to design improved TOM MAC protocols. Based on this objective, this paper provides a novel protocol analysis along with a message complexity derivation and comparison of the existing TDM MAC protocols.

  • In this paper, we propose an energy efficient sink node based MAC protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The proposed sink node-based MAC (SB-MAC) protocol uses a RB(rapid beacon) frame to save sender's energy consumption and to reduce transmission delay. The RB frame is a modified IEEE 802.15.4 beacon frame. The RB frame contains the length of the sender nodes data. Using this information other nodes except sender and receiver nodes can be stay sleep mode long time to reduce energy consumption. Results have shown that the SB-MAC protocol outperformed other protocols like X-MAC and RI-MAC in terms of packet delivery delay and energy consumption. The SB-MAC protocol is especially energy efficient for the networks with one sink node and many senders.

  • In this paper we propose a traffic aware Demand Wakeup MAC(TADW-MAC) protocol, in which low data delay and high throughput can be achieved, for wireless sensor networks. With the TADW-MAC protocol, the problem of the DW-MAC protocol, which schedules only one packet to deliver during the Sleep period in a multi-hop transmission is resolved. DW-MAC is not adequate for the applications such as object tracking and fire detection, in which busty data should be transmitted in a limited time when an event occurs [6-8]. When an event occurs, duty cycle can be adjusted in the TADW-MAC protocol to get less energy consumption and low latency. The duty cycle mechanism has been widely used to save energy consumption of sensor node due to idle listening in wireless sensor networks. But additional delay in packet transmission may be increased in the mechanism. Our simulation results show that TADW-MAC outperforms RMAC and DW-MAC in terms of energy efficiency while achieving low latency.

  • MacCormack's method is an explicit, second order finite difference scheme that is widely used in the solution of hyperbolic partial differential equations. Apparently, however, it has shown entropy violations under small discontinuity. This non-physical shock grows fast and eventually all the meaningful information of the solution disappears. Some modifications of MacCormack's methods follow ideas of central schemes with an advantage of second order accuracy for space and conserve the high order accuracy for time step also. Numerical results are shown to perform well for the one-dimensional Burgers' equation and Euler equations gas dynamic.
