Off-Line PD Diagnosis for Stator Winding of Rotating Machines Using a UWB Sensor

  • We studied partial discharge detection by sensing electromagnetic waves emitted from the partial discharge source in an HV Rotating Machine using a UWB sensor. In this study, we design a new type of compact low frequency UWB sensor based on micro-strip technology. We also perform many experiments of offline and dismantled testing compared with the existing HFCT on stator winding of the HV generator. We mention the detailed design of a new compact UWB sensor along with the time domain PRPD pattern and frequency domain results of partial discharge in the stator winding of a 6.6kV rotating machine by offline testing performed in a laboratory.

The Design of Optimized Fuzzy Cascade Controller: Focused on Type-2 Fuzzy Controller and HFC-based Genetic Algorithms (최적 퍼지 직렬형 제어기 설계: Type-2 퍼지 제어기 및 공정경쟁기반 유전자알고리즘을 중심으로)

  • In this study, we introduce the design methodology of an optimized type-2 fuzzy cascade controller with the aid of hierarchical fair competition-based genetic algorithm(HFCGA) for ball & beam system. The ball & beam system consists of servo motor, beam and ball, and remains mutually connected in line in itself. The ball & beam system determines the position of ball through the control of a servo motor. Consequently the displacement change of the position of the moving ball and its ensuing change of the angle of the beam results in the change of the position angle of a servo motor. The type-2 fuzzy cascade controller scheme consists of the outer controller and the inner controller as two cascaded fuzzy controllers. In type-2 fuzzy logic controller(FLC) as the expanded type of type-1 fuzzy logic controller(FLC), we can effectively improve the control characteristic by using the footprint of uncertainty(FOU) of membership function. The control parameters(scaling factors) of each fuzzy controller using HFCGA which is a kind of parallel genetic algorithms(PGAs). HFCGA helps alleviate the premature convergence being generated in conventional genetic algorithms(GAs). We estimated controller characteristic parameters of optimized type-2 fuzzy cascade controller applied ball & beam system such as maximum overshoot, delay time, rise time, settling time and steady-state error. For a detailed comparative analysis from the viewpoint of the performance results and the design methodology, the proposed method for the ball & beam system which is realized by the fuzzy cascade controller based on HFCGA, is presented in comparison with the conventional PD cascade controller based on serial genetic algorithms.

The inner controller controls the position of lever arm which corresponds to the position angle of a servo motor and the outer controller decides the set-point value of the inner controller. HFCGA is a kind of parallel genetic algorithms(PGAs), and helps alleviate the premature convergence being generated in conventional genetic algorithms (GAs). For a detailed comparative analysis from the viewpoint of the performance results and the design methodology, the proposed method for the ball & beam system which is realized by the fuzzy cascade controller based on HFCGA, is presented in comparison with the conventional PD cascade controller based on serial genetic algorithms.

  • 현대사회에 들어서면서, 전력수요의 중가와 전력기기산업의 고집적화에 따라 사고시에 발생하는 파급효과가 대형화되는 추세에 있다. 따라서 이를 미연에 방지하기 위한 연구가 각 분야에 걸쳐 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 이에 당사에서는 초고압 계통에서 사용되는 SF6가스 절연 GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear) 및 Oil-Transformer에서의 부분방전 측정/분석을 위하여 UHF/AE를 이용한 on-line/portable 측정 시스템을 개발하였다. 본 논문에서는 개발/상용화 되어 field에서 사용되고 있는 시스템의 전반에 대하여 설명한다. 또한 철재 선진사와 공동 진행중인 Risk Assessment에 대하여 언급하였다.

  • The research for detecting of insulating deterioration in transformer has been studied from long ago. Analysis method of combustible gas, which is included in insulating oil, has been widely used in detection of transformer pre-fault detection due to the effectiveness of its method. Recently the fault effect of the large transformer is very critical in a power system, therefore the on-line monitoring and diagnostic system is needed.   • 부분방전 검출을 이용한 XLPE 케이블 진단은 중간 및 종단 접속재의 계면에 존재하는 결합을 검출할 수 있는 가장 효과적인 방법으로 제시되고 있지만 현장의 큰 노이즈로 인하여 신뢰성 있는 진단이 쉽지 않다. 하지만 국내에서 많은 연구가 이루어진 송전케이블 진단 기술을 바탕으로 배전케이블 진단에 적용하여 종단접속부에서 발생된 부분방전을 성공적으로 검출하였고 해체 조사를 통하여 결함을 검출하였다. 본 논문은 참고문헌[1]에 발표한 논문에 연결되는 논문으로 전편은 2004년 2월 부분방전 검출사례를 보고한 논문이고 본 논문에서는 8월 계획정전을 통하여 문제된 접속함을 교체한 후 해체조사를 통하여 결함을 검출한 사례보고이다.

  • This paper describes a diagnosis of power transformers by on-line detection of ultrasonic signals. Partial discharge in power transformer generates ultrasonic signals. The trend of the ultrasonic signal number can be measured when partial discharge is generated in HV Winding. The trend of the ultrasonic signal number could easily be distinguished by taking moving average. The insulation failure due to partial discharge in transformers can be predicted based in the trend analysis of the number of ultrasonic signals caused by partial discharge.

  • This paper reviews about synthesis of nanoparticles by spark discharge and applications. A method of catalytic activation with Pd and Pt aerosol nanoparticles produced by spark discharge was introduced. After annealing, the catalytically activated substrate placed into a solution for electroless silver deposition. The silver was then formed only on the activated regions of the substrate. Silver line patterns having a width of $18{\mu}m$ and a height of $1{\mu}m$ were created with the ability to be effectively reproduced. Antimicrobial nanoparticles such as silver were used for removal of bioaerosols. Silver nanoparticles deposited air filters such as ACF filters were evaluated by antimicrobial test.

  • In this paper, We Designed the torque compensatory controller for robot manipulator using modified chaotic neural networks with self feedback loop. The proposed torque compensatory controller compensate torque of the PD controller. In order to estimate the proposed controller, we implemented to the Cartesian space control of three-axis PUMA robot and compared the simulation results with recurrent neural networks(RNNs) controller. Simulation results show that the learning error drastically decrease at on-line learning. The proposed CNNs controller shows much better control performance and shorter processing time compared to the recurrent neural network controller in the robot trajectory control.

  • This thesis propose the prefilter type control strategies using modified chaotic neural networks #or the trajectory control of robotic manipulator. Since the structure of chaotic neural networks and neurons, chaotic neural networks can show the robust characteristics for controlling highly nonlinear dynamics like robotic manipulators. For its application, the trajectory controller of the three-axis PUMA robot is designed by CNN. The CNN controller acts as the compensator of the PD controller. Simulation results show that learning error decrease drastically via on- line learning and the performance is excellent. The CNN controller have much better controllability and shorter calculation time compared to the RNN controller. Another advantage of the proposed controller could be attached to conventional robot controller without hardware changes.
