  • This study dealt with the applicability and quality control of the concrete using fly ash produced in combined heat power in a construction site. Firstly, chemical and physical characteristics of the fly ash produced in combined heat power plant re analysed. Also, after investigating the properties of flesh and hardened concrete through various experiments, the fly ash concrete was placed in depositing construction in Ulsan Petrochemical Service Co. This field application was focussed on the quality control system in the site as production, placing and curing of concrete. As the result of this study, the quantity of CaO in the fly ash is relatively high based on the chemical analysis. The fly ash concrete showed slumping maintenance and high viscosity properties in the optimal mixing conditions (W/B:44~45%, S/a:$45\pm$2%, W:185kg/m). And, quality control and assurance of the fly ash concrete in actual site were verified by various testing methods.

  • The purpose of this study is to offer basic information of fly ash concrete for field application. Through before study and fly ash in mortar, various properties as fly ash ratio in concrete were checked according to the experimental result, slump was increased and entrained air quantity was decreased as fly ash ratio is increased in fresh concrete. In hardened concrete, strength development of plain concrete(W/B 50%) was slower than water-reduced concrete(W/B 40%) at early age. Especially water-reduced concrete was remarkabily faster than no fly ash in concrete. Moduls of stastic elasticity and stress-strain relationship of fly ash in concrete nearly were effect on no fly ash concrete.

  • The workability of high strength concrete using high range water reducing admixture is varied rapidly according to elapsed time. For using the high strength concrete in situ, careful caution on workability is necessary. By using fly ash as a admixture, the slump loss of concrete can be reduced considerably, but the early strength of concrete used fly ash is smaller than that not used fly ash. For the purpose of elevating the utilization of fly ash on high strength concrete, the high fluidity retention and the strength development in early age are necessary in concrete used fly ash. In this study, to improve the fluidity retention and to acquire strength development on concrete used fly ash, the gypsum is applied.

  • Fly ash can significantly improve concrete workability and performance, and recycling fly ash in concrete can contribute to a cleaner environment. Since fly ash influences pozzolanic reactions in concrete, mechanical behaviors of concrete containing fly ash differ from traditional concrete. Creep behaviors of fly ash concrete filled steel tube arch were experimentally investigated for 10% and 30% fly ash replacement. The axes of two arches are designed as circular arc with 2.1 m computed span, 0.24 m arch rise, and their cross-sections are all in circular section. Time dependent deflection and strain of loading and mid-span steel tube were measured, and long term deflection of the model arch with 10% fly ash replacement was significantly larger than with 30% replacement. Considering the steel tube strain, compressive zone height, cross section curvature, and internal force borne by the steel tube, the compressive zone height and structural internal forces increased gradually over time due to concrete creep. Increased fly ash content resulted in more significant neutral axis shift. Mechanisms for internal force effects on neutral axis height were analyzed and verified experimentally.

  • A new on-the-fly conversion algorithm is proposed, and high-speed array multipliers with the on-the-fly conversion are presented. The new on-the-fly conversion logic is used to speed up carry-propagate addition at the last stage of multiplication, and provides constant delay independent of the number of input bits. In this paper, the multiplication architecture and the on-the-fly conversion algorithm are presented and discussed in detail. The proposed architecture has multiplication time of (n +1)$t_{FA}$, Where n is the number of input bits and $t_{FA}$ is the delay of a full adder. According to our comparative performance evaluation, the proposed architecture has shorter delay and requires less area than the conventional array multiplier with on-the-fly conversion.

  • This study provided the engineering properties of the recycled aggregate concrete with fly-ash and silica-fume. There are considered recycled aggregate substitution ratio, and fly-ash silica-fume mix ratio as the experimental variable. From the experimental result, we could know that the recycled aggregate concrete mixed silica-fume is superior on the compressive strength but, is poor on the construction property than fly-ash. The optimal mix ratio of the fly-ash and silica-fume is 10% in all.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the uses of fly ash asa type of construction material. This paper presents the results of research performed to identify optimum mix proportions for production of lowable fill with high volume fly ash content . The fly ash used in this study met the requirements of KS L 5405 and ASTM C 618 for Class F material. The flowable fill with high volume fly ash content was investigated for strength and flowability characteristics. Tests were carried out on flowable fill designed to have 10 ~15kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ compressive strength at 28 days with fly ash contents of approximately 260kgf/㎥. Slump was held at 25$\pm$1cm for all mixtures produced to range from 5kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ to 14kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ compressive strengths at 28 days. To produce flowable fill with high volume fly ash , first the influential variables were identified in an experimental study based on factorial design. Among the proportioning variables investigated, cement ,fly ash, and sand contents were found to have statistically significant effect on strength and slump of flowable fill . Subsequently, response surface analysis techniques were used to devise an experimental program that helped determine the optimum combinations of the selected influential variables based on material properties and cost. The optimized flowable fill were then technically evaluated. It is shown that flowable fill has acceptable compressive strength , slump flow, hardening time, and permeability.

  • This research examines the engineering properties and color intensities of mortar containing different amounts of fly ash (0, 5, 10 and 20%) mixed at different water-to-binder ratios (w/b = 0.23, 0.47 and 0.59) and exposed at different temperatures (T = 25, 100, 200, 400, 600 and $800^{\circ}C$). Results show that there is greater mass loss on ignition with high w/b and higher temperatures. In addition, the color channel image analyzer (Windows software written in Delphi) is utilized to study the relationship between the curing temperature and intensity of three primary colors, red, green and blue (RGB), of the fly ash mortar specimens. The results show that the RGB intensities on the specimen surface increases from that at $25^{\circ}C$. The mortar specimen becomes white with increase in w/b but without the addition of fly ash. Moreover, for mortar specimens with greater content of fly ash, red on the specimen surface has the greatest increase in intensity at elevated temperature. Observation the variations in color on the specimen surface may help estimate the highest elevated temperatures that concrete structures can withstand.

  • Megaselia scalaris, also known as the scuttle fly, has a humpbacked morphology and was categorized as an insect undergoing complete metamorphosis. Megaselia scalaris was reported to be found in diverse environments. Recently, the scuttle fly has been a focus of studies by forensic scientists, geneticists, and developmental biologists. However, detailed research into scuttle fly development is still unclear. Therefore, the current study has been performed to elucidate the development of Megaselia scalaris. The scuttle fly undergoes four distinct stages of development: egg, larva, pupa and adult fly. After mating, the scuttle fly eggs hatch within one day and become larvae. The newly generated larvae go through 1, 2, and 3 instar stages within a period of 5~10 days. The instar stage 1 takes 1~2 days, instar stage 2 takes 1~2 days, and instar stage 3 takes 3~5 days. Depending on the environmental temperature, the pupae stage takes approximately 10~15 days to complete. The pupa stage can be divided into five sub-stages: 1~3 days, 4~6 days, 7~9 days, 10~12 days and 13~15 days. After molting, the newly formed adult scuttle fly can fly after one day. The morphological characteristics of the scuttle fly during each stage of development was detailed within this study.
