$Pt(2,6-(Cy_2PCH_2)_2C_6H_3)(OTf)\;(OTf=CF_3SO_3^-)$ readily reacts with various amines to afford cationic amine complexes $[Pt(2,6-(Cy_2PCH_2)_2C_6H_3)(amine)](OTf)\;(amine=NH_3,\;NHMe_2,\;NHC_4H_8,\;NH_2Ph,\;NH_2(Tol-p))$ in high yields. These complexes have been fully characterized by IR, $^1H-,\;^{19}F{^1H}-,\;and\;^{31}P{^1H}-NMR$ spectroscopy, and elemental analyses. Reaction of $Pt(2,6-(Cy_2PCH_2)_2C_6H_3)(OTf)$ with acrylonitrile quantitatively produced the ${\pi}$-olefinic complex $Pt(2,6-(Cy_2PCH_2)_2C_6H_3)(CH_2=CHCN)](OTf)$ which is only stable in solution in the presence of acrylonitrile. Attempt at isolating this complex in the pure solid state was failed due to partial decomposition into $Pt(2,6-(Cy_2PCH_2)_2C_6H_3)(OTf)$ The equilibrium constants $(K_{eq}=[Pt(PCP)-(NH_2R)^+][CH_2=CHCN]/[Pt(PCP)(CH_2=CHCN)^+][NH_2R]:\;[Pt(2,6-(Cy_2PCH_2)_2C_6H_3)(CH_2=CHCN)]^++NH_2R{\rightleftarrows}[Pt(2,6-(Cy_2PCH_2)_2C_6H_3)(NH_2R)]^++CH_2=CHCN=Ph,\;p-tolyl)$ were calculated to be 0.28 (for R = Ph) and 3.1 (R = p-tolyl) at $21^{\circ}C$. The relative stability of the ${\sigma}$-donor amine versus the ${\pi}$-olefinic acrylonitrile complex has been found largely dependent upon the amine-basicity $(pK_b)$, implicating that acrylonitrile practically competes with amine in the platinum coordination sphere. On the contrary to the formation of the acrylonitrile complex, no reaction of $Pt(2,6-(Cy_2PCH_2)_2C_6H_3)(OTf)$ with other olefins such as ethylene, styrene and methyl acrylate was observed.
The influence of acidity in MTT zeolite of different Si/Al molar ratio's on the catalyst activity in methanol-to-olefin (MTO) reaction has been investigated. The Si/Al ratio was controlled with the Al content in the gel when N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,3-diaminopropane was used as a structure directing agent (SDA). The gel composition was controlled to $20SiO_2$ : 30SDA : x (=0.25~1.25)$NaAlO_2$ : 2NaOH : $624H_2O$, which was subject to the hydrothermal synthesis at 433 K for 4 days. As the composition of sodium aluminate decreased, the particle size of MTT zeolite increased, and also the amount of acid sites decreased. To investigate the catalytic performance, MTO reaction was carried out at 673 K with $1.2h^{-1}$ WHSV. It was found that the H-MTT (1.00Al) catalyst with a Si/Al molar ratio of 24 maintained the methanol conversion over 90% for 900 min.
The biodegradabilities of surfactants were measured for shampoos and powder detergents for clothing(six kinds of each) in domestic market at present. Also the phosphates that cause of eutrophication and heavy metals to have a direct effect on human body were measured. Analysis results show that though they all come up to KS(Korean Industrial Standards), samples containing plenty of sodium ${\alpha}$-olefin sulfonate(AOS), linear alkyl benzene sulfonate(LAS) and synthetic sodium lauryl etoxylate sulfonate (SLES) have the lower biodegradability than the others. It was found that these samples were petroleum surfactants, and the lower biodegradability than surfactants extracted naturally. The contents of phosphates and heavy metals in the samples were under the regulation limits for the cosmetic standards.
The migration of alkylphenols from PVC packaging materials (wrap, sheet and gasket) into food simulants and foods were analyzed by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection and gas chromatography with mass selective detection. Only seven nonyl phenol isomers were detected in three types of PVC food packaging materials and the content of nonyl phenol of wrap was higher than those of sheet and gasket. The contents of nonyl phenol migrated from fatty food simulants (n-heptane) were higher than those from aqeous food simulants (distilled water, 4% acetic acid and 20% ethanol) and increased with increase in temperature. Nonyl phenol in fruit juice, infant formula, and beverage was migrated from PVC gasket, olefin gasket, and olefin bottle cap, respectively. Nonyl phenol was also detected from foods even before contacting with the packaging materals.
A bacterium producing alkaline cellulase was isolated from soil, leaf mold and compost, and was identified as alkalophilic Bacillus sp. HSH-810 by morphological, cultural and biochemical determination. The optimum cul-ture condition of Bacillus sp. HSH-810 for the growth and alkaline cellulase production was $30^{\circ}C$ and pH 10.0. The maximum alkaline cellulase production was obtained when 1.0%(w/v) CMC, 0.5%(w/v) peptone, 0.02%(w/v) $CaCl_2$ and 0.02(w/v) $CoCl_2$ were used as carbon source, nitrogen source and mineral source, respectively. The optimum pH and temperature of the enzyme activity were pH 10.5 and $50^{\circ}C$, respectively. This enzyme was fairly stable in the pH range of 6.0-13.0 and at $50^{\circ}C$. For the effect of surfactants, the activity of alkaline cellulase was stable in the presence of sodium-$\alpha$-olefin sulfonate (AOS), sodium dodecyl sulfonate (SDS), Tween 20 and Tween 80, but inhibited by the presence of 0.1 linear alkyl-benzene sulfonate (LAS) sig-nificantly.
Heavy metals, Cd and Pb, in soil were extracted by using anionic surfactants such as AOS (alpha olefin sulfonate), SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate), and LAS (linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acid). Metal extractability from soil was affected by the carbon number and solution pH of surfactants. LAS showed higher metal extractability due to the acidic solution condition. Although SDS has a fewer carbon number than AOS, it would produce smaller micelles and resulted in more efficient extraction of metals by increased soil contact. Cd extractability of surfactant was twice enhanced by adding NaI as a ligand. However, Pb extractability of surfactant was sometimes reduced by adding NaI. Those ligand effects were dependent on solubility of metal-ligand. The column experiment also showed that SDS having smaller micelles resulted in higher metal extractability than AOS.

The origin of large difference of selectivity of $C_3H_6$ over $C_3H_8$ between pure gas and mixed gas through silver polymer electrolyte membranes is investigated. Firstly, the effect of feed condition on the permeance of mixture gas ($C_3H_6/C_3H^8$) and the separation performance is examined. Upon decrease of the $C_3\;H_6$ concentration, the $C_3H_6$ permeance decreased whereas the permeance of $C_3H_8$ increased, resulting in the decrease of the selectivity of $C_3H_6/C_3H_8/.$ This result is ascribed to the $C_3H_6$-induced plasticization of membranes. Experimental results were validated by means of mathematical modeling, where pressure independent permeabilities were used.
For the separation of olefins/paraffins, $Poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)/AgBF_4/Al(NO_3)_3/Ag_2O$ composite membranes were prepared. When $Ag_2O$ was introduced, the initial selectivity and permeance of composite membranes were observed to be 13.7 and 21.7 GPU, respectively. The increase in performance compared to the initial performance of $PEO/AgBF_4/Al(NO_3)_3$ membrane (selectivity 13 and permeance 7.5 GPU) was thought to be due to the increase of Ag ion activity due to the addition of $Ag_2O$. However, performance degradation over time was observed, which was thought to be due to the polymer matrix PEO. Since the PEO polymer could not stabilize the $Ag_2O$ particles, the $Ag_2O$ particles becmae aggregated together as the solvent evaporates, and $Ag_2O$ acts as a barrier. As a result, the permeance decreases over time.
Space- and time-resolved in-situ optical and fluorescence microspectroscopy techniques have been applied to investigate the coke formation during aromatization of C5 paraffin and olefin over H-ZSM-5 crystal. In-situ UV/vis absorption measurement offers space- and time-resolved information for the coke formation. Different coking trends have been observed with respect to the location of a crystal as well as the reactant types. From in-situ confocal fluorescence microspectroscopy study, it is revealed that the concentration of certain species photo-excited at 488 nm becomes high at the central region, whereas the compounds emitting fluorescence by 561 nm laser move towards the boundary region of the crystal. The different fluorescence patterns obtained varying excitation lasers suggest the existence of distinct fluorescence emitting species having different degree of coke growth.

Fisher-Tropsch synthesis for the production of hydrocarbon from syngas was investigated on 20% cobalt-based catalysts (20% Co/HSA, 20% Co/Si-MMS), which were prepared by home-made supports with high surface areas such as high surface alumina (HSA) and silica mesopores molecular sieve (Si-MMS). In the gas phase reaction by syngas only, 20% Co/Si-MMS catalyst was shown in higher CO conversion and lower carbon dioxide formation than 20% Co/HSA, whereas the olefin selectivity was higher in 20% Co/HSA than in 20% Co/Si-MMS. In the effect of n-hexane added in syngas, the selectivities of $C_{5+}$ and olefin were increased by comparing the supercritical phase reaction with the gas phase reaction in addition to reduce unexpected methane and carbon dioxide.
