Using data of 1,513 persons over 18 years old from the Korean General Social Survey(KGSS)(2011), this study applied descriptive analyses, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and multi-regression with STATA14. According to results, the degree of ageism was slightly lower(2.43 out of 5). Compared to age groups, the results were followed: elderly, middle age, and young age group. Among them, the ageism level of the group to have experiences of discrimination was higher than one of the group not to have it. The degree of altruism was high(3.95 out of 5), followed by elderly, middle age, and young age group. The group experienced in discrimination had higher level of altruism than another. The degree of the civil right consciousness was high(5.83 out of 7) without differences among age groups. In the results of regression analysis, the ageism was negatively affected by altruism and the civil right consciousness. • Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the relative effects of young children's mathematical abilities and scientific abilities on intelligence. Methods: The object of this study is 100 five or six-years-old children in a kindergarten of S district in S city. I conducted analysis of partial correlation after controlled young children's age and sex to examine correlation between young children's mathematical abilities, scientific abilities and intelligence, also I used stepwise multiple regression analysis for inspecting the relative effects of young children's mathematical abilities and scientific abilities on intelligence. Results: Young children's intelligence is relative with mathematical abilities and scientific abilities, this relation is higher in 'measurement' and 'algebra' factors of mathematical abilities and 'predicting' factor of scientific abilities. Mathematical abilities bigger impact to the relative effects on young children's intelligence. Conclusion/Implications: On this, it is necessary that evenly providing the math and science activities in early childhood education field and home, and we have to consider the integrations of the process when provide the math and science integrated activities. This study has the significance to use basic line data when people plan the integrated math-science activities and develop program associated those by finding the relationship between mathematical abilities, scientific abilities and intelligence and evaluating the relative effects on intelligence.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop basic data for the prevention of shipboard disasters and measures to improve the safety and health of seafarers by using a survey on the safety and health activities of seafarers. The questionnaire was administered to 437 people who have worked on a ship in the last six months. According to the results from the analyses (t-test, crosstab, and ANOVA), the level of safety and health activities of seafarers averaged at 68.82 points. The workplace clearance was the highest at 76.08 points, and the safety and health management system were the lowest at 62.78 points. As a result of the differences in the level of safety and health activities, the number of marine workers was higher than workers on land, and higher education was higher than lower education (p<0.01). It was higher for workers in coastal zones than for those in pelagic areas, and special cargo ships were higher than other ship types (p<0.01). Larger ships had a higher number of activities than small ships, and ships that were less than five years old had more activities (p<0.01). Therefore, in order to raise the level of safety and health activities of seafarers, it is necessary to develop safety and health education programs that take individual, job, and ship characteristics into consideration, and promote active safety and health activities on ships.

In this study, it carred out non-destructive, chemical and morphological analysis for fiber identification, also considered on influx, features and difference between the 'Baek-cheop-po(Three kingdom period's cotton fiber)' and 'Mok-myeon(imported by Munikjeom, late Korea dynasty)'. As a result, the fiber proved cellulose fiber through analytical researches like color reaction, FT-IR(chemical analysis). It was also confirmed lumens, typical dimensional structure(morphological analysis) as an features of cotton fiber. The fiber was the first evidence in ancient Korea's cotton. But it can not prove that whether weaving were made in Baekje's area. However there were documentation that people in Beakje make cloth to silk fabric from 'Mahan period'. We can suppose that they have had an old weaving techniques. This study has a great historical, academic values as the only evidence for the hypothesis of a weaving technique of the Baekje's cotton. • This cohort study aimed to identify the effects of daily PM10 exposure on the hospital admission of patients with respiratory diseases, during the nine-year period (2002-2010), in Seoul, Korea. The research subjects were 13,974 patients who had been hospitalized with respiratory diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and pneumonia. During the follow-up period, an increase of 10 ug/m3 in PM10 under the threshold of 50 ug/m3 of PM10 led to hospital admission in 1.38% of the age group younger than 15 years, 1.62% in those 65 years or older, 2.87% in patients 75 years or older and in 1.50% of pneumonia patients, 1.51% of COPD patients, and 1.55% of pneumonia and asthma patients. Under the threshold of 80 ug/m3 of PM10, there was a 3.71% increase in new patients admitted in the age group 65 years or older and 4.25% in those at least 75 years old. Our study found that high PM10 was associated with increased risk of admission of respiratory patients, especially in the elderly. People who already have a respiratory disease should refrain from exposure to particulate matter when there is a high concentration of PM10, especially older patients.

  • Various records on health, food and treatment are written in ancient documents of Korea such as old recipe books, Korean medical books and history books, through these records, the principle of Sikchi can be discovered. Sikchi includes the meaning of medicine and food work on the same principle, and it is not only as traditional knowledge but also affecting modern food culture. Based on this principle of Sikchi, this study tried to lay a foundation that can be used as a modern health food material through scientific verification of foods recorded in the ancient literature. For this purpose, Omigalsu, a traditional drink made from omija, soybean, and honey, which is related to blood glucose control, which is one of the representative metabolic diseases of modern people, was selected as the subject of this study. In order to compensate for the agglomeration of beverages caused by honey or the rise in postprandial blood glucose, which occurs when the traditional Omigalsu recorded in the ancient literature is reproduced, the raw material that can be substituted for honey was discovered. The health promotion and quality improvement effects of newly prepared Omigalsu using honey substitutive raw material were confirmed through a comparative test with traditional Omigalsu. Based on this study, through scientific research using the principle of Sikchi, we intend to lay a foundation that can be used as various contents in the medical and food fields such as food bio and healthcare in modern society.

  • This study regards the need for jobs to overcome the poverty of the elderly in an aged society, and as well as researches ways to participate in active economic activities in old age. The results of the study are as follows. First, the legal system needs to be improved. In addition to institutional support for the expansion of jobs for the elderly, improvement of awareness of the elderly and reinforcement of infrastructure such as a delivery system are required, and a legal basis for this is needed. To this end, occupations targeting the elderly must be selected first, and legal procedures must be prepared by the government. Second, there must be social consideration and support for the elderly. Extension of the retirement age plays an important role in enhancing employment for the elderly. Along with the improvement of the legal system, social consideration is required. Therefore, since the elderly policy without social consensus is bound to fail, various support methods that can lead to social support must be devised. Third, the elderly must have a sense of poverty and willingness to rehabilitate themselves. Elderly people should not only ask for their children and social support. The elderly must be able to find a way to become the economic agent themselves. To do this, a basic awareness of the elderly poverty consciousness is needed, and a change of awareness to escape the poverty of the elderly is necessary. Therefore, the elderly need to be self-reliant, and they must choose jobs according to their own abilities. In conclusion, the elderly job program is a part of income increase that solves the poverty of the elderly in the aged society, and the elderly are required to actively participate in economic activities.
