We have experienced a case of ventricular septal defect due to blunt chest trauma. A 22 year old male patient was admitted due to chest pain after Motor cycle accident on July 1st,1993. On 5th hospital day, sudden onset of dyspnea was noted and auscultation represented newly developed systolic murmur. A cardiac catheterization and Left ventriculogram revealed ruptured septum at the apical portion. Because there was open wound on anterior chest wall and congestive heart failure was medically controlled, the patient was discharged for elective operation. He was readmitted on August 14th, 1993.At operation, ventricular septal defect was found in apico-posterior muscular septal area, about 2.0 x 1.5 cm in size. The defect was repaired by double velour patch with interrupted suture and ventriculotomy was closed with Teflon felt. The patient`s postoperative course was uneventful and discharged 10 days postoperatively without complication. The patient have been followed up~ for 2 months. He is on functional class I with small amount of residual shunt at the ventricular septum.

Panic disorder is one of common disease clinically, and it is included in the anxiety disorders. This case is about a patient who is 43 years old lady, suffered by a sense of unease, irritation, palpitation, chest discomfort, heating sense of the upper part. etc. This patient was treated by Bosimgunbitang(Buxin Jianpi Tang) in early stage, and Palmulgunzatang(Bawu Junzi Tang) in chronic stage. This paper describe the process and contents about the way the patient was treated.

Jehovah's Witnesses refuse a transfusion of blood or blood products because of religious beliefs; this refusal at times presents a dilemma for the treating physician. We report a case of a 25-year-old Jehovah's Witness patient who underwent a reoperation for a previous proximal humerus shaft fracture and experienced unexpected massive hemorrhage intraoperatively and postoperatively. The postoperative lowest hemoglobin level was 2.9 g/dl. The patient recovered from the severe anemia without any clinical sequala. We review the legal, ethical and religious issues and suggest the best possible medical care that Jehovah's Witness patient would permit.

Objectives The symptom of nineteen-year-old male patient who had cluster headache was alleviated using Soyangin's diagnosis and treatment. Methods This patient was diagnosed as Soyangin in terms of QSCC II(Questionnaire of Sasang Constitutional Classification II) and ordinary symptoms and current symptoms. The disease pattern was diagnosed as Soyang-sangpung symptomology. The intensity of headache was assessed by VAS(Visual Analogue Scale). Results and Conclusions The patient's symptom was improved using Hyeongbangsabaek-san, acupuncture treatment and cupping treatment.

Objectives: To report the effect of Korean medicine on 39-year-old infertile patient with thin endometrium. Methods: The patient who had thin endometrium was treated with herbal medication, acupuncture, moxibustion and steam bath for 4 months. Results: After the Korean medical treatment, the patient could give a natural birth to a healthy baby. Conclusions: The case report suggests that Korean medicine, especially herbal medicine and acupuncture is effective on thin endometrium.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to report the effect of oriental treatments for polycystic ovarian disease patient with amenorrhoea. Methods: A 27 years old women, who diagnosed polycystic ovarian disease, was enrolled in this study. She received oriental treatment such as herbal medicine, acupuncture for 8 months. And we proceeded to checkup female hormone regularly, such as Estrogen, LH, FSH, Prolactin. We observed the menstruation period and figure out LH/FSH ratio. Results: Polycystic ovarian disease patient restart cyclic menstruation. LH/FSH ratio of polycystic ovarian disease patient was decreased to normal level. Conclusions: In polycystic ovarian disease patient with amenorrhoea in this case, oriental herbal medicine and acupuncture treatment make cyclic menstruation and restore LH/FSH ratio to normal level.

Purpose: Deficits in lower-extremity function and trunk control ability have a negative impact on individuals with hemiplegia. This case report aimed to describe the effect of trunk stability exercises using proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) on trunk control ability, balance, and gait in a patient with hemiplegia. Methods: A 77-year-old man with hemiplegia and trunk and lower extremity impairment participated in this four-week training intervention. Results: The patient demonstrated improvements in trunk control ability, balance, and gait performance. Outcome measures (Fugl-Meyer Assessment Lower Extremity (FMA-LE), Trunk Control Test, Berg Balance Scale, Timed Up and Go test, 10 Meter Walk test) were measured before and after the training program. Conclusion: The results of this case suggest that a trunk stability exercise using a PNF program may improve trunk control ability, balance, and gait in a patient with hemiplegia.

A report of a 79 year old male patient suffering from acute myocardial infarction with Mallory-Weiss tear after successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) by emergency medical technician in the swimming pool is presented. Successful percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) was done after appropriate transfusion. The patient survived and discharged without major complications after admitting 11days in the hospital. Importance of CPR in AMI patient is reiterated as complication such as Mallory-Weiss tear may arise.

Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) arising primarily in the lung is an extremely rare and aggressive malignancy with poor chances of patient survival. We present a case of long-term survival by a 29-year-old woman with PNET diagnosed after a hertological and immunohertochemical examination of a biopsy specimen obtained by performing video-assisted thoracic surgery. The patient underwent a left lower lung lobe lobectomy and 6 cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy. The patient has been free of any symptoms of the recurrence of the disease for 6 years after treatment completion.

Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) with ultrasonography is considered a minimally invasive and safe procedure. Complications of it are infrequent and occur immediately or within a few days after FNA. Such complications may occur mainly in patients with underlying problems. We here report a rare case of thyroid cystic nodule infection occurring 1 month after FNA in an immunocompetent patient and serial sonographic findings in this patient. A 33-year-old woman with a cystic nodule including partially isoechoic solid areas on the right thyroid gland complained of difficulty swallowing and painful sensations in the right neck 1 month after FNA. On follow-up examination, the cystic nodule and perithyroidal soft tissue were suspicious of infection. The possibility of infection after FNA should be considered even if the patient is immunocompetent in order to prompt evaluation and immediate management with empirical antibiotic therapy to avoid life-threatening complications.
