Oil Adsorption of Exfoliated Graphite Prepared by Direct Reaction between $SO_3$ Gas and Graphite

  • Graphite intercalation compounds (GIC) were prepared by direct reaction of $SO_3$ gas with flake graphite. The intercalated $SO_3$ molecules were ejected by rapid heating to $950^{\circ}C$ under an oxidizing atmosphere for about 1 minute, resulting in surprisingly high expansion in the direction of c-axis. The characteristics of the micro-structure and pore size distribution were examined with a SEM and mercury intrusion porosimetry. The XRD analysis and spectroscopic analysis were used for the identification of the graphite and surface chemistry state. The pore size distribution of the exfoliated graphite (EG) was a range of $1{\sim}170{\mu}m$. The higher expanding temperature the higher expanded volume, so oil sorption capacities were 58.8 g of bunker-C oil and 34.7 g of diesel oil per 1 g of the the EG. The sorption equilibrium was achieved very rapidly within several minutes. As the treatment temperature increases, bulk density decreases.

활성탄과 합성 제올라이트를 이용한 폐절연유 내 PCBs 흡착 (Adsorption of PCBs in Transformer Oil on Powder Activated Carbon and Synthetic Zeolite)

  • In this study, adsorption of polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) in transformer oil on powder activated carbon (PAC) and synthetic zeolite was evaluated. Adsorption characteristics of PCBs on the PAC and zeolite has been investigated in a batch system with respect to adsorbents amount and contact time. BET results showed 908 m2/g for PAC and 483 m2/g for zeolite. The adsorption capacity of PCBs increased with an increasing input amount of absorbent. The adsorption experimental results showed that PAC removed 90% of input PCBs in transformer oil while zeolite removed only 64%. Adsorption of PCBs to PAC and zeolite fit the Freundlich model well. The Freundlich parameter, Kf, for PAC and zeolite was 193.1 and 43.0 respectively, indicating that PAC is effect adsorbent for PCBs adsorption in transformer oil.

겔 작용에 의한 쿼터늄-18 헥토라이트를 사용한 Water-in-Oil 에멀젼의 안정화 기술 (Stabilizing Technology of water-in-Oil Emulsification with Quaternium-18 Hectorite by Gelling Action)

  • This study is described the stabilizing technology of water-in-oil (w/o) emulsion and the mechanism of emulsification with quaternium-18 hectorite (Q-18 HTRT) by swelling action. When Q-18 HTRT is dispersed in oil, it swells and constructs card-house structure adding ethanol, and formation of water phase is caused by hydrogen bonding. The gelling activities of Q-18 HTRT were excellent such as mineral oil, squalane, cetostearyl isononanoate, isostearic acid, cetyl octanoate, octyl dodecanol and so on. Especially, when oil gel containing Q-18 HTRT passed one to three times by Roll mill. It made the W/O emulsion cream (W/O-ECRM) having 2.0 w/w% of Q-18 HTRT and also produced the control sample (control) including 3.0 w/w% of cetyl PEG/PPG- l0/l dimethicone. The stability of after 24 weeks, Hardness of W/O-ECRM dropped 7.48%, whereas hardness of control went down 57 71%. As a result of these test emulsification of W/O-ECRM is superior compared with control. In cosmetic, 0-18 HTRT can use as suspending agent, oil adsorbent, emulsifying agent, dispersing agent, viscosifier and pigment.

Konjac Glucomannan Derived Carbon Aerogels for Multifunctional Applications

  • Environmental and energy issues have always been a hot topic of global research. Oil leakage has caused great damage to the environment, affecting a wide area and it is difficult to clean up. In most cases, carbon-based adsorbents are typically utilized to remove oil spills because of their economic benefits and high adsorbent efficiency. At the same time, its excellent material properties can also be used for the preparation of supercapacitors. In this paper, the carbon aerogels were prepared by the one-step method. The prepared materials endowed a 3D network structure with a huge number of micropores and mesoporous, and the material is light-weight, stable, hydrophobic and has affinity for oil (17.02 g/g) to the KGM carbon aerogel. Through the physicchemical characterization, the KGM carbon aerogel shows specific surface area is $689m^2/g$, high water contact angle ($136.64^{\circ}$) and excellent reusability (more than 15 cycle times). In addition, we also discussed the electrochemical properties of the material and obtained the specific electrical capacity of 139 F/g under the condition of 1 A/g.

CCD-RSM을 이용한 시벅턴 오일의 탈색공정 최적화 및 자외선 흡수능력 평가 (Optimization for Decolorization and UV-Absorbility of Refined Sea Buckthorn Oil Using CCD-RSM)

  • 본 연구에서는 천연 오일인 시벅턴 오일의 천연 자외선 흡수제로의 사용 가능성을 알아보기 위하여 시벅턴 원유에 대한 흡착 탈색공정을 수행하고, 이를 CCD-RSM (central composite design model-response surface methodology)을 이용하여 최적화하였다. CCD-RSM의 반응치로는 탈색과정의 탈색효과, 탈색 후 정제유의 산가 및 290 nm에서의 자외선흡광도로 설정하였으며, 독립변수로는 탈색제의 첨가량, 탈색온도, 탈색시간으로 설정하였다. CCD-RSM에 의한 통계학적 최적화 결과와 수학적 최적화 결과를 비교한 결과 3가지 반응치를 동시에 만족하는 최적조건으로 탈색제의 첨가량(4.32 wt.%), 탈색온도(134.9 ℃) 및 탈색시간(19.8 min)으로 나타났다. 이 최적 조건하에서 예측된 반응치 중 탈색과정의 탈색효과는 94.78%, 탈색 후 정제유의 산가는 2.08 mg/g KOH, 그리고 290 nm에서의 자외선 흡광도는 2.91로 나타났으며, 오차율은 2% 이하로 낮게 나타났다. 따라서 CCD-RSM을 시벅턴 원유의 흡착 탈색공정에 적용할 경우 매우 높은 수준의 만족하는 결과를 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였으며 천연 식물성 오일인 시벅턴 오일을 천연 자외선 흡수제로서 사용 가능함을 확인하였다.

  • Two major hazardous gases. SOx and NOx. are emissioned from fossile fuels. SOx has been removed when oil is refined but NOx hasn't. So NOx is very serious problem in air pollution now There are several technologies to remove NOx. e.g. cooling method. scrubbers method. combustion method, polymer membrane method and adsorbent methods. Polymer membrane and adsorbent methods have good economic merit in removal systems of low content hazard gases. Traditional absorbents are porous silicas, aluminas. active carbon and zeolites. But these absorbents act only physisorption which has less removal performance than chemisorption. In this study. polymeric absorbent which has chemisorption as well as physisorption was analyzed about chemical structure and experimented about optimum operation conditions. The results showed that the chemical structure of the polymeric absorbent was expected as polystyrene having -N-CH$_2$COOH absorbent was revealed about 310$m^2$/g. The molar ratio of absored NO to charged NO in absorption experiments was shown 60% of the polymeric absorbent and 45% of zeolite absorbent at 3$0^{\circ}C$.

Fabrication and Characterisation of a Novel Pellicular Adsorbent Customised for the Effectvie Fluidised Bed Adsorption of Protein Products

  • A dense pellicular solid matrix has been fabricated by coating 4% agarose gel on to dense zironia-silica(ZS) spheres by watr-in-oil emulsification . The agarose evenly laminated the ZS bead to a depth of 30㎛, and the resultin gpellicular assembly was characterised by densities up to 2.39g/mL and a mean particle dimeter of 136 ㎛. In comparative fluidisation tests, the pellicular solid phase exhibited a two-fold greater flow velocity than commercial benchmark ad-sorbents necessary to achieve common values of bed expansion. Furthermore, the perlicular parti-cles were characterised by improved qualities of chromatographic behaviour, particularly with re-spect to a three-fold increase in the apparent effective diffusivity of lysozyme within a pellicular assembly modified with Cibacron Blue 3GA. The properties of rapid protein adsorption/desorp-tion were attributed to the physical design and pellicular deployment of the reactive surface in the solid phase. When combined with enhanced feedstock throughput, such practical advantages recommend the pellicular assembly as a base matrix for the selective recovery of protein products from complex, particulate feedstocks(whole fermentation broths, cell disruptates and biological extracts).

화학 및 열적 처리를 이용한 폴리염화바이페닐(PCB)의 제거 (Disposal of Polychlorinated Biphenyls(PCBs) by a Combined Chemical with Thermal Treatment)

  • 변압기 오일에 함유되어 있는 폴리염화바이페닐(PCB)의 제거를 위해서 화학적 처리와 제어된 산화반응에 의한 열적처리를 상호 결합시킨 한 포괄적인 공정이 이루어 졌다. 화학시약을 이용한 화학처리에서 완전히 처분할 수 없었던 폴리염화바이페닐은 오일의 순환중 에 적절한 흡착제로 걸러진 후 열처리되었다. 열처리에 의해서 폴리염화바이페닐은 99.99% 이상 파괴 되었으며 독성 부산물인 PCDDs나 PCDFs는 처리과정 중에 형성되지 않았다. 변압기에 있는 오일이나 무기지지체는 공정 후에 재회복 되었다. 화학 및 열적처리를 결합시킨 이 공정은 환경적으로 유익하며, 다른 유용한 기술보다도 사용하기 쉽고 효과적이며 경제적 이었다.

수용액중에 함유된 석유화합물들의 흡착처리에 관한 연구 (Adsorption Treatment of Petroleum Oil on Aqueous Phase)

  • Amberlite XAD 고분자수지 및 고분자수지 대체흡착제인 rice bran, rice straw 그리고 sawdust에 대한 petroleum oil의 흡착량을 최저 흡착조건에서 뱃치법으로 측정하여 조사하였다. Rice bran과 rice straw에 대한 petroleum oil의 흡착량은 XAD계열수지의 흡착량의 약 50% 정도로 흡착성이 우수하였다. 또한 이들 대체흡착제의 흡착능을 증대시키기 위한 탄화시간은 $200^{\circ}C$, 30분이 최적 조건이었다. Sawdust의 경우에는 30% MeOH 매질에서는 흡착성이 매우 약한 반면 0.5M NaCl 매질에서는 XAD수지 흡착능이 약 1/2에 도달하였다. Rice bran과 rice straw는 외관상의 구조차이와는 관계없이 비슷한 흡착능력을 보였다. 따라서 rice bran과 rice straw들은 XAD계열 수지에 대한 대체흡착제로 충분한 흡착능력을 가지고 있는 것으로 보인다.

식물성 압착오일의 흡착제에 따른 항산화 활성 비교 (Comparison of Antioxidant Activity of Vegetable Oil by Using Adsorbents)

  • 본 연구는 국내에서 생산 된 호박씨, 동백씨, 고추씨 그리고 땅콩에서 오일을 압착 추출하여 오일의 정제과정에서 사용되는 흡착제인 활성탄, 산성백토, 백도토를 사용해서, 흡착제 사용에 따른 항산화 활성과 지방산 및 활성성분의 조성을 비교분석했다. 각 오일의 성분 분석 및 흡착제에 따른 변화는 가스마토그래피/질량분석기(GCMS)를 사용하여 분석했고 DPPH 라디컬 소거능과 ABTS 라디컬 소거능 측정을 통해 항산화 활성능력을 비교했다. 흡착제 처리 시, 실험에 사용된 4종의 국내산 식물성 오일에 포함 되어 있는 대부분의 지방산 및 항산화 능에 관여하는 화합물의 양이 감소되는 것을 관찰하였다. 호박씨 오일은 세 종류의 흡착제가 linoleic acid과 erythrodiol 성분을 감소시켰으며, 동백씨 오일의 경우 지방산들이 대체적으로 감소하였으나 산성백토로 정제한 군에서는 vitamin E의 손실이 없었고, 고추씨 오일의 매운 성분에 관여되는 capsaicin 화합물은 산성백토로 정제 시 53.33% 감소되었고, 땅콩 오일의 경우 활성탄을 처리한 군에서 sitosterol 화합물의 손실이 가장 적은 것을 확인 하였다. 항산화 활성은 호박씨 오일(백도토>산성백토>활성탄), 동백씨 오일(산성백토>백도토>활성탄), 고추씨 오일(백도토>산성백토>활성탄) 그리고 땅콩 오일(활성탄>산성백토>백도토)순으로 나타남을 확인하였다.
