고속가공기를 이용한 환경친화적 가공기술 (Environmentally Conscious Machining Technology by using High Speed Machine Tool)

  • Recently, environmental pollution has become a significant problem in industry and many researches have been investigated in order to preserve the environment. Environmentally conscious machining and technology have more and more important position in machining process. In the milling process, the cutting fluid has greatly bad influence on the environment. In this study, the machining of blade parts(12Cr steel) using the cutting fluid, compressed cold air and oil mist etc., also, the productivity and the surface topography was improved by using new end-mil tool considering tool material and shape.

This research is the experimental study on high speed machining of aluminum alloys through environmentally conscious machining. In this study, the surface roughness and chip appearance was investigated in the machining of aluminum alloys by dry machining, using cutting fluid and oil mist.

  • The important problem in the high speed spindles is to reduce and minimize the thermal effect by the motor and ball bearings. Thermal characteristics according to the bearing preload and hollow shaft cooling are studied for the test spindle with the oil mist lubrication and high frequency motor. Bearings and motor e main heat generation, and heat generation by ball bearings as a function of load, viscosity and gyroscopic moment effect are considered. Temperature distribution and thermal displacement according to the speed of spindle are measured by thermocouple and gap sensor. The results show that the fitting preload and hollow haft cooling are very effective to minimize the thermal effect by the motor and ball bearings.

  • In industrially advanced countries, environmentally conscious machining was eagerly studied because of ecological and economical reasons. As the environmental regulations become stricter, the new machining technologies which take environmental aspects into consideration are being developed. Recently the research institutions have established application method for dry, semi-dry, oil-mist and compressed cold air machining. In this paper the performance of new compressed cold air system for environmentally conscious machining is investigated and machinability of dry and new compressed cold air machining is evaluated. A series of tests are carried out by using measuring equipments in condition of dry and compressed cold air machining.

오일미스트용 축상 유입식 사이클론의 집진효율에 관한 연구 (A Study on Dust Collection Efficiency of Axial-vane Type Cyclone for Oil Mist)

  • Dust collecting performance of axial-vane type cyclone for oil mist was analyzed in this study. For predicting cut diameter size of cyclone, the number and angle of vane (${\beta}_2{^{\prime}}$) was calculated by CFD. As the result, ${\beta}_2{^{\prime}}$ was decreased as the number of vane was increased and the angle of inclination (${\beta}_2{^{\prime}}$) decreased, and it cause strong swirl flow. Therefore, it could be confirmed that as the number of vane was increased and the angle of inclination was decreased, cut diameter size was decreased. Also, by verifying the results of CFD through experiment, the cut diameter size could be 2 ${\mu}m$ at 4 $m^3/min$ of flow rate.

금속가공유 취급 작업장의 생물학적 인자 노출평가 (Microbial Assessment in Metal-Working Fluids Handling Industry)

  • Objectives: The objective of this study is to evaluate microbial exposure hazards in the metal-working fluids(MWF) handling industry. Methods: Air quality parameters(airborne bacteria, fungi, endotoxin and oil mist) and bulk MWF in storage tanks were evaluated at 54 points at nine sites in South Korea. Results: The geometric means(GM) of culturable airborne bacteria, fungi, endotoxin and oil mist concentration were $133CFU/m^3$(n=376, range $7{\sim}6,510CFU/m^3$), $159CFU/m^3$(n=381, range $7{\sim}8,469CFU/m^3$), $8.06EU/m^3$(n=103, range $0.34{\sim}280.4EU/m^3$) and $0.20mg/m^3$(n=104, range $0.01{\sim}2.87mg/m^3$), respectively. The ratio of indoor to outdoor concentration was 2.7 for bacteria, 6.1 for endotoxin, and 4.8 for oil mist. Even though average airborne bacteria concentration did not exceed recommended exposure limits($1,000CFU/m^3$), MWF in the storage tanks was highly contaminated with bacteria(arithmetic mean $2.1{\times}10^6CFU/ml$) and exceeded recommended bacteria limits($10^5CFU/ml$). Conclusions: It is necessary for MWF handling workplaces to conduct periodical biohazard inspection of MWF storage tanks. Additionally, further research may be necessary to establish biological occupational exposure limits.

오일 미스트 윤활환경의 밀봉성능향상을 위한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Sealing Performance Improvement for Oil Mist Luibrication Environment)

  • Sealing an oil-air mixture plays important roles to have an enhanced lubrication for high speed spindle. Current work is emphasized on the investigation of the air jet effect on the protective collar type labyrinth seal. To improve the sealing capability of conventional labyrinth seal, air jet is injected against through the leakage flow. It has a combined geometry of a protective collar type and an air jet type. In this study, both of a numerical analysis by CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) and experimental measurements are carried out to verify sealing improvement. Both of the turbulence and the compressible flow model are introduced in CFD analysis. The sealing effect of the leakage clearance and the air jet magnitude are studied for various parameter in the experiment. The results of pressure drop in the experiment match reasonably to those of the simulation by introducing a flow coefficient. Effects of sealing improvement are explained as decreasing of effective leakage clearance by air jetting. Thus, sealing effect is improved by amount of air jetting even though clearance becomes larger.
