Experimental Study on the Effects of Low Viscosity Engine Oils on Fuel Economy (엔진오일의 저점도화가 차량 연비에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the fuel economy improvement experimentally when the viscosity of engine oil is lowered. The emissions are measured for CVS-75 mode with SAE viscosity grades. The test results indicate that a close correlation has been found between the engine oil viscosity and the fuel economy. The lowering of engine oil viscosity causes the reduction of friction loss which has a very close relation with the fuel economy. These results as the lowering of engine oil viscosity will be a important factor for improvement of the fuel economy and reduction of the $CO_2$ emission.

A Basic Study on the Development of Oily Sludge Treatment System by Ultrasonic Waves (초음파 오일 스러지 처리 시스템 개발을 위한 기초 연구)

  • All crude oil carries a little of water, sand, and mineral sediment molecules tightly bounded with hydrocarbons. The result is the gradual precipitation of these heavier elements into thick, granular petroleum by products known as crude oil sludge. The oily sludges in ship tanks and in storage facilities have to be treated efficiently in order to keep the security and the capacity of storage facilities, to protect a serious environmental pollution, and to retrieve lost resource. The oily sludge treatment system should be designed to satisfy requirements mentioned in safe work condition. As a basic study, in this paper, an oily sludge treatment system by ultrasonic waves was proposed. Then, the features of ultrasonic energy and recovery of sludge with ultrasonic waves are investigated by experiments. As results, we found that ultrasonic waves are a new energy to flow oil sludge environment-friendly in safe work condition. In addition, it was shown that ultrasonic energy is more efficient than thermal energy in treating oil sludge, and that the volume of wastes for disposal is reduced remarkably.

  • The elementary experiment was performed to develop the emulsified fuel production system using pressure injection nozzle in this study. The stabilities and characteristics of emulsified fuel which is produced through direct spray of water via pressure injection nozzle into oil are examined.   • As demand of electric power are growing and transmission line limited owing to enlargement of the downtown area The eonfidence of underground transmission cable which shows gradual growth are high. It is found whether insulating ability is good or not. In this paper, The exper iment result is shown that the fall of insulating ability and take preventive measure through the analysis of tans, water content, dielectric breakdown voltage, total acid number, volume resistivity , and gas in the oil in an accordance with the characteristic change of oil used very much for insulating oil of cable.

  • In the high pressure state, the leakage flow rate of hydraulics is one of serious problems and the great reason to decrease the volume efficiency. In this paper, I tried to clarify tribology characteristics for the slipper hydrostatic bearing in swash plate type axial piston pumps and motors by means of experiment . I measured the leakage flow rate between swash plate and piston shoe with change the supply pressure and oil temperature at a swash plate angle of 0。 . And I also investigated the slipper pocket pressure and calculated oil film thickness for theoretical method. So. 1 have analyzed the tribology characteristics of hydrostatic bearing for leakage flow rate and oil film thickness with oil temperature and supply pressure.

  • In the present study, heat transfer characteristics of oil flow over offset strip fins were predicted by the numerical methods. Oil flow in the plate-fin passage was idealized by 2 dimension. Power law scheme and SIMPLE algorithm were used for convective diffusion formulation and pressure term respectively. Governing equations were discretized by control volume formulation. The flow patterns and heat transfer were predicted in details. The convective heat transfer coefficients were affected by separation bubbles which appeared at the wake region of offset strip fins.

  • A series of numerical simulations have been carried out to study the performances of cyclone-type oil separators, which are designed for refrigeration-system compressors. The corresponding working fluid is R22, which is a typical refrigerant, whereby a mineral-oil droplet is supplied (Ed-highlight-My interpretation). The outlet-tube length in relation to the total chamber volume is considered a design parameter. Depending on the tube length, the separation efficiency varies from 98.7% to 99.3%, while the predicted pressure drop is between 5.1 kPa and 6.4 kPa. Considering both the pressure drop and separation efficiency, the length of the outlet-port tube of the separator is 152 mm.

Cavitation Inception in Oil Hydraulic Pipeline (유압관로에서의 캐비테이션 초생)

  • The Cavitation inception in oil hydraulic pipeline was investigated experimentally and numerically. In the experiment, negative pressures below -1 MPa (absolute pressure) were measured, associated with the transient flows in oil hydraulic pipeline. These experimental results show that the common hydraulic oil in the experimental pipeline withstands large tensions. The growth of a spherical bubble in a infinite volume of viscous compressible fluid due to a stepwise pressure drop was investigated to obtain the critical bubble radius. The calculated value of the critical bubble radius corresponding to the negative pressure measured in the experiment is so small that the premised condition about the bubble shape in the analysis is unsatisfactory. The physical significance of this calculated result implies the fact that there hardly exist free bubbles which can act as cavitation nuclei in the experimental pipeline.

Quality Characteristics of Pound Cake with Olive Oil (올리브유를 첨가한 파운드케이크의 품질특성)

  • The effects of olive oil addition on the quality characteristics of pound cake was investigated. Olive oil was added to the batter at a ratio of 33, 66 and 100%. The volume of pound cake prepared by adding $33{\sim}100%$ olive oil increased from 841.2 to 1083.2 mL. The volume index of pound cake prepared by adding $33{\sim}100%$ olive oil increased by $3.19{\sim}3.70$ and that of the control was 2.88. The hardness and penetration resulting from the addition of $33{\sim}100%$ olive oil decreased significantly during storage for 1 hour and 72 hours, respectively. The lightness and redness values of the cake decreased with increasing olive oil content. The taste, moistness and overall acceptability of the pound cake with 66% olive oil were the best.
