This study was undertaken to elucidate the effect of DHA-rich fish oil (DHA-rich oil) added to different dietary fats on lipid metabolism. Rats were fed perilla oil, sesame oil and beef tallow with or without DHA-rich oil for 12 weeks. The weight gain was higher in groups with DHA-rich oil than that of groups without DHA-rich oil, with DHA-rich oil, while weight of epididymal fat pad was lower in perilla oil and beef tallow groups with DHA-rich oil. The contents of total lipid and triglyceride in plasma were not affected by dietary fat types, but that of total and HDL cholesterol in plasma were higher in sesame oil group than perilla oil and beef tallow groups without DHA-rich oil. The contents of total lipid, triglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL cholestrol and LDL cholesterol in plasma were decreased by DHL-rich oil addition. The contents of total lipid, total cholesterol and triglyceride in the liver were not affected by dietary fat type. The contents of total cholesterol and triglyceride in the liver were not affected by dietary fat type. The contents of total lipid and TG in liver were not affected by DHA-rich oil addition while hepatic cholesterol increased by DHA-rich oil addition. The activities of glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase and malic enzyme were highest in beef tallow group without DHA-rich oil and decreased by DHA-rich oil addition. Peroxisomal ${\beta}$-oxidation had an inverse relationship against the activities of lipogenic enzymes. In conclusion, dietary DHA-rich oil decreased fat accumulation and had hypolipidemic effect, especially in beef tallow group. Also groups with DHA-rich oil showed more hypolipidemic effect than perilla oil group. And DHA-rich oil addition to diets resulted in increasing dietary n-3/n-6 ratio. Therefore increase in n-3/n-6 ratio as well as dietary DHA were considered to be responsible for the hypolipidemic effect resulted from DHA-rich oil addition.

Preparing for treatment and management of the emulsified fuel oil which will be generalized henceforth, this paper is an attempt to examine the viscosity-temperature characteristics of emulsified heavy fuel oil which is mixed with water and emulsifier in various mixture ratio by mechanical mixer. The experimental results are summarized as follows: 1. The viscosity-temperature characteristics of the emulsified C & B grade heavy fuel oil mixed with water of same or less weight, is changed according to log.log(v+0.6)=b-3.8log T. 2. The emulsifier has to be added to the emulsified A grade heavy fuel oil mixed with water of same or less weight, because it is instable. Especially if the emulsifier is sodium stearate, it is added more than 0.3% of the weight of oil and water. 3. In the emulsified A grade heavy fuel oil mixed with water and emulsifier, the higher the ratio of water addition becomes, the higher the viscosity is and the more the viscosity-temperature slope decreases. But the higher the ratio of emulsifier addition is, the more the viscosity-temperature slope increases. In this case, the linearity of viscosity-temperature characteristic curve is poorer than that of B and C grade heavy fuel oil. 4. In the emulsified A grade heavy fuel oil mixed with emulsifier of 0.3% or less, the emulsion type is O/W type when water addition ratio is 40%, but it is W/O type when it is 10%, 20%, 30% and 50%.
In order to supplement the flame-retardant performance of oil stain, which can prevent wooden buildings from contamination, (NH4)2HPO4, a phosphorus flame-retardant, was added to oil stain and applied for each type of plywood, and an experiment was conducted. The addition rate was set to 0-60%, but white powder appeared on the surface of plywood from 40% and thus it was impossible to experiment, so the maximum addition rate was selected as 30%. As a result of the experiment, acacia plywood had the best performance. As the rate of addition of the flame retardant increased, the remaining time and carbonization length of all plywood decreased, but the carbonization length of the MDF plywood was not met with the standards.
It's a tendency to strengthen related international laws as the importance on marine oil pollution recently becomes the issue. According to the regulation of IMO, oil discharge from ships is allowed under 15 ppm only and oil filtering equipment is essential. However, for large ships using heavy fuel oil of over S.G 0.98 and viscosity 380 cSt and system oil, it has been in difficulty to process with existing filtering type of oily water separator. Oily water pre-separator of laminated plate type which is one of gravity type separator has very simple structure and it also makes easier to maintain and repair. In another words, it fits well to process large amount of rich oil with high specific gravity. In this paper, oily water pre-separator of laminated plate type has been studied. The function of emulsified oil and 4 different types of oil have been analyzed and each character has been investigated and proved by experiments. As the result of it, the efficiency of separating oil water has been advanced by 10% in case equipped with pre-separator. In addition, the higher temperature is and the more laminated plate has, it turns out to be getting more effect.
Methanol was examined as supplemental fuel for open chamber type and pre-combustion chamber type diesel engine. Pre-determined quantities of diesel oil were injected as ordinary diesel engines and methanol was added at inlet pipe using venturi, nozzel and and float chamber for the rest of the charge. In this mode of operation, addition of methanol reduced inlet and exhaust temperature. Inlet air quantities were essentially unchanged in spite of lower inlet temperature. Exhaust smoke was significantly reduced At light load when both diesel oil and methanol were introduced with small quantities, specific heat consumption was considerably increased. However, with the increase of the quantity of methanol or diesel oil, specific heat consumption was improved. With sufficient quantities of diesel oil enough to produce the power above 3/4 load, addition of methanol showed better thermal economy.
This study was undertaken to elucidate the effect of DHA rich fish oil(DHA rich oil) added to different dietary fats on thrombosis and lipid peroxidation. Rats were fed perilla oil, sesame oil and beef tallow with or without DHA rich oil for 12 weeks. Bleeding time was the longest in Perilla oil groups with or without DHA rich oil. The productions of thromboxane B2(TX B2) and 6-keto Prostaglandin F1$\alpha$(6-keto PG F1$\alpha$) were the highest in Esame oil group without DHA rich oil. Bleeding time tended to be extened and group showed the most antithrombotic effect among three oil groups when DHA rich oil added. The antithrombotic effect by DHA rich oil addition seemed to be resulted from the increase of dietary n-3 fatty acid rather than DHA. And there was not the difference in antithrombotic effect between DHA and $\alpha$-linolinic acid. The level of TBARS(thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) in plasma and liver, and the activities of lipid peroxide metabolizing enzymes(catalase, superoxide dismutase and gluthathion peroxidase) in erythrocyte and liver were not affected by the dietry fat type and DHA rich oil addition, except that activity of hepatic catalase was increased by DHA rich oil addition. Therefore it revealed the DHA level added in this study seldom affected lipid peroxidation. However, it dose not conclude that DHA level of this study make low production of lipid peroxide because the peroid of our study was short.
The oil-based magnetic fluids were prepared with synthesized ultrafine magnette by allowing surfactactants such as sodium oleate and aliquat 336 to adsorb on the surface of magnetite particles. The dispersion ratio of oil-based magnetic fluids was higher than 90% when the amount of sodium oleate and aliqua 336 were more than 2.63$\times$10-2 mol and 6.56$\times$10-3 mol for 20g of magnetite respectively. The dispersion ratio of oil-based magnetic fluids with the amount of secondary surfactant addition was higher than 90% when oil-based magnetic fluids were prepared with aliquat 336 of cationic type. However oil-based magnetic fluids prepared with surfactants of anionic and nonionic type showed lower dispersion than whose with cationic surfac-tants.
The effects of silica-alumina type catalysts addition on the thermal decomposition of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) resin have been studied in a thermal analyzer (TGA, DSC) and a small batch reactor. The silica-alumina type compounds tested were kaolinite, bentonite, perlite, activated clay and clay. As the results of TGA experiments, pyrolysis starting temperature for EVA resin had the 1st pyrolysis temperature range of 300~$400^{\circ}C$ and the 2nd pyrolysis temperature range of 425~$525^{\circ}C$. The silica-alumina type catalysts did not affect the pyrolysis rate in EVA pyrolysis reaction. In the DSC experiments, addition of kaolinite and bentonite catalysts reduced the heat of fusion and heat of 2nd pyrolysis reaction. In the batch system experiments, the mixing of silica-alumina type catalysts enhanced the yield of fuel oil, and affected to the distribution of carbon numbers. In the silica-alumina type inorganic material used in this experiments, bentonite was the most effective from the pyrolysis heat, yields, and the characteristics of fuel oil.
The changes of resistant starch (RS) contents of cooked rice with soybean and coconut oils under different storage conditions were investigated and RS contents were compared between the rice and cooker types. The japonica (Hopyeong) and the indica (Thailand) type rice were cooked (washed rice: water = 100: 130) using an electric cooker and a saucepan. The coconut oil and soybean oil (3%, based on rice, w/w) were added into cooking water before heating. The RS contents of freeze-dried cooked rice powders (newly-cooked rice, stored for 12 h in the refrigerator, microwave heating after storage for 12 h in the refrigerator) were measured by the AOAC method. The RS contents of cooked rice using a saucepan were higher than those using an electric cooker. The indica type cooked rice had a higher RS content than the japonica type cooked rice, regardless of storage conditions. However, addition of oil before cooking rice resulted in increased RS content on storage in the refrigerator. The highest RS content of the cooked indica type rice with soybean oil ($5.89{\pm}0.22%$) that was stored for 12 h in the refrigerator was analyzed. The results suggested that the cooked rice formed retrograded (RS3) and amylose-lipid complex (RS5) type RS; furthermore, the RS content is affected by storage conditions, rice, cooker and oil types.
