생물학적 방법에 의한 하수 중계펌프장의 악취제거 (Removal of Malodorous Gases Emitted from a Wastewater Pumping Stations by Biological Methods)

  • 하수 중계펌프장에서 발생되는 악취를 효율적으로 저감할 수 있는 기술로 4가지 기술(활성탄 흡착법, 약액세정법, 지렁이 분변로를 이용한 탈취법, 바이오필터법)의 탈취 효율과 경제성을 조사하였다. PU 바이오필터와 활성탄 흡착법의 평균탈취 효율은 98% 이상이었으나, 지렁이 분변토 바이오필터와 약액세정법은 60-80%의 탈취율을 보였다. PU 바이오필터 탈취 성능은 악취가스의 체류시간이 4-36초에서 체류시간과 무관하게 약 98-99%로 매우 안정적이었고, 최대 탈취능은 으로 평가되었다. $1.6${\times}$10^{ 7}$ $OUm^{-3}$$h^{-1}$ PU 바이오필터와 활성탄 흡착법의 탈취비용을 조사하였다. 악취 강도가 증가함에 따라 활성탄 흡탁법의 운전비는 선형적으로 증가하였지만 바이오필터법은 약간 증가하였다. 바이오필터의 초기 시설비의 비용이 활성탄 흡탁법의 2배 이상이었지만 운전비가 활성탄 보다 아주 저렴한 것으로 평가되었다. 결론적으로 탈취효율과 경제성이 우수한 생물여과법이 가장 유망한 기술로 평가되었다.

Paint booth volatile organic compounds emissions in an urban auto-repair center

  • A major concern regarding most auto-repair shops in residential areas is the emission of odorous volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the local atmosphere, especially during painting operations. VOCs contribute to poor local air quality and are responsible for the perceived odor and discomfort experienced by local residents. Sixteen major VOCs (6 aromatic hydrocarbons and 10 aliphatic carbonyl compounds) were selected as potential target compounds. The site was an auto-repair shop located in a central region of Seoul, South Korea, where the air quality of the site has been a subject of residents' complaints. The sampling points were as follows: 1) in the painting booth with new (NB) or old (OB) removal system, (2) in the exhaust duct after new (ND) or old (OD) odor removal filter, and (3) 2 m below the discharge vent (4 m above the ground) (outdoor air, OA). Each sample was coded: (1) before painting (BP), (2) during painting (DP), and (3) after painting (AP). The toluene level in the duct with the new removal filter during painting (ND-DP) was 1.5 ppm (v/v), while it was 3.8 ppm (v/v) in the right duct with an old removal filter during painting (OD-DP). Accordingly, the effect of filter replacement was reflected by differences in VOC levels. Therefore, accurate monitoring of odorous VOCs is an important step to reduce odor nuisance from local sources.

미량오염물질 및 맛 냄새유발물질의 제거를 위한 오존/AOP 및 활성탄 공정의 적용성에 관한 연구 (Study on the applicability of the ozone / AOP and activated carbon process for the removal of trace organic contaminants and taste odor causing substances)

  • 정수처리공정에서 미량유기물질과 맛 냄새물질인 2-methylisoborneol (2-MIB)와 geosmin의 제거특성을 파악하기 위하여 오존 및 advanced oxidation process (AOP)와 입상활성탄으로 구성된 biological activated carbon (BAC)공정과 활성탄 단독공정인 granular activated carbon (GAC)공정에 대한 pilot plant를 수행하였다. 운전 결과, 2-MIB 159 ng/L, geosmin 371 ng/L의 고농도에서 오존 1.0 mg/L 주입시 42%, 86%의 제거율을 나타냈으며 $H_2O_2$ 0.5 mg/L를 추가주입한 AOP 공정에서 각각 58%, 90%의 제거율 상승을 나타냈다. 또한 BAC공정에서 99.8%의 제거율을 나타냈으며 GAC 공정에서 2 ng/L이하의 처리성능을 보였다. 따라서 미량유기물질 및 맛 냄새 물질의 지속적인 제거를 위해서는 오존/AOP와 활성탄의 처리효과를 조합한 BAC 공정이 효과적으로 나타났으며, 활성탄지의 흡착능을 지속적으로 유지하기 위해서 유입농도에 따른 오존/AOP 공정의 최적화가 필요한 것으로 판단된다.

은나노 소재를 이용한 공조기의 탈취 성능 향상에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Deodorization Performance Enhancement of the Air Handling Unit Using a Nano-Silver Material)

  • The filter has long been used in purification processes for indoor air quality. To determine the deodorization effect of several filter materials in a full-scale air-handling system, the present study has been carried out using a wind tunnel equipped with a heat exchanger and various filter materials, such as commercial fabric, activated carbon(AC) and silver nano-particles attached to activated carbon(Ag-AC). The experiment was conducted using an odor substance with ammonia, acetaldehyde, acetic acid. The results obtained indicate that odor substance is substantially decreased on the moisture condensation on the surface of the heat exchanger. The fabric filter has no effect for removal of odor substances. The deodorization efficiency is found to be approximately 7% in the AC filter, while the deodorization efficiency is increased up to 10% using the Ag-AC filter.

Ammonia and Hydrogen Sulfide Removal from Swine House Exhaust Air Using a Dip Injection Wet Scrubber

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the odor reduction efficacy of the dip injection wet scrubber (DIWS) using tap water as washing fluid. The $NH_3$ and $H_2S$ removal efficiency of 7 day batch operated DIWS was evaluated twice over a total of 14 days of experiment. The $NH_3$ removal efficiency ranged from 26 to 37%. The $H_2S$ removal efficiency was between 22 and 30%. The pH of the washing fluid maintained below 8 and the $NH_4{^+}$ concentration tended to keep constant around 350 ppm after 5 days of washing-fluid replacement. Therefore, the 5-day washing fluid replacement interval is more preferable than the 7-day interval. The $NH_4{^+}$ concentration and the electrical conductivity (EC) showed a high correlation. The EC measurement can be used as an alternative to conventional $NH_4{^+}$ concentration measurement method for real time monitoring of washing fluid condition.

습식세정탑 내 악취가스 제거를 위한 복합흡수제의 효율 특성 (Efficiency Characteristics by Mixed Absorbents for the Removal of Odor Compounds in the Wet Scrubber)

  • 아민계열 화학흡수제와 다른 화합물과의 혼합용액이 중화반응을 통해 악취가스를 제거하는 사실이 알려져 왔다. 이러한 혼합용액 중 식물추출물의 식물정유 성분은 그 자체로 만으로도 악취가스 20~40% 이상 제거능을 가지며 0.2% 아민계열 흡수제와의 혼합용액은 악취가스의 98% 이상의 제거효율을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 악취가스인 암모니아가스와 황화수소가스를 제거하기 위해 온도와 pH 운전조건에 따라 식물정유물질과 아민계열의 화학흡수제 등을 이용하여 적정운전조건을 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 식물정유 성분 중 모노테르펜의 성분을 분석하기 위하여 GC-MS분석방법을 사용하였으며 그들의 반응메카니즘의 일부가 규명되었다.

공기청정기 CA 규격성능시험 결과 분석 및 가스시험 변별력 향상 방안연구 (Analysis of CA Certification Performance Test Results and Improvement of CA Test Method for a Better Differentiation of Gas Removal Performances for Room Air Cleaners)

  • In this study, we organized the test results obtained from the performance tests for the CA certificated air cleaners which had been commercially available in Korea since 2003, and analyzed the correlation among the test parameters such as flow rate, particle collection efficiency, clean air delivery rate (CADR), ozone emission, odor removal efficiency and noise level etc. The noise level of 267 air cleaners were increased as concentrated at the 45, 50, 55 dB, which are the required noise level for CA certification according to flow rate, and ozone emissions from the CA air cleaners were significantly lower than the requirement limit, 50 ppb for 24 hour operation. The average particle collection efficiency and odor removal efficiency were 89.3 and 80.8%, approximately 20% higher than the requirement of CA certification, regardless of flow rates. The particle removal performance of an air cleaner was clearly discriminated by its CADR, and the CADR was obtained with a simple calculation: 0.79 x flow rate. The low differentiation of gas removal performance of air cleaners by the current CA gas test method was improved by 3.2, 751.3, 13.4 times for ammonia, acetic acid, respectively, by adopting the CADR concept and the real time measurement method, FTIR, for gas removal performance test.

미생물 포괄고정화 담체를 적용한 파일럿 스케일 바이오필터에서의 복합악취 제거 (Complex odor removal in pilot-scale biofilter with microorganisms immobilized on polymer gel media)

  • A pilot-scale biofilter was constructed to discover degradation characteristics of the complex odor discharged from Ansan wastewater treatment plant. Candida tropicalis for volatile organic compounds, sulfur oxidizing bacteria(SOB) for hydrogen sulfide, and bacteria extracted from feces soil were immobilized on a polymer gel media. According to this study, the EBCT was varied from 36 sec to 18 sec. Toluene was removed as 80% along the variations, but it was recovered as 100% within 1 week. All benzene and xylene were removed during the operation while the efficiency of hydrogen sulfur was temporary decreased at 18 sec of EBCT, thereafter it was recovered to 100% within a week. The maximum elimination capacities of the benzene, toluene, xylene, and hydrogen sulfur were 6.6 g/$m^{3}$/hr, 31.7 g/$m^{3}$/hr, 7.8 g/$m^{3}$/hr, and 133.6 g/$m^{3}$/hr, respectively. There were merits on removal both organic and inorganic complex odor using the pilot-scale biofilter embedded with microorganisms immobilized on polymer gel media.

MEK 제거를 위한 바이오필터용 담체의 선택 (Selection of Biofilter Support for Removing MEK)

  • 본 악취제거용 바이오필터에 필요한 담체에 대하여 실험한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 합성악취가스의 조성이 MEK 250 ppm을 바이오필터에 통과시켰을 때, 폴리프로필렌 섬유상은 $586.6g-MEK/m^3\;hr$로 실험담체 중에서 최고 제거량을 나타내었다. 폴리우레탄 담체는 $359.7g-MEK/m^3\;hr$을 제거용량을 나타내었다. 화산석 담체의 제거량은 $56.2g-MEK/m^3\;hr$으로 평가되었다. 본 연구에서 사용한 담체 중에서 MEK 제거에 사용될 수 있는 최적의 담체로는 폴리플로필렌 섬유상 담체로 평가되었다.
