연안재해 방지 및 비점오염원 유출저감을 위한 투수블록의 특성 연구 (Permeable Coastal Pavement Structure for Shore Protection and Removal of Non-point Source Pollutants)

  • Due to climate change, coastal areas are being flooded with torrential rain, typhoons, and tsunamis. In addition, non-point source pollutants (NPSs) that accumulated on the ground, streets, and buildings during the dry season are washed off by rain and stormwater runoff, which adds to the damage associated with environmental pollution, e.g., pollution that makes its way into the ocean. Recently, low impact development (LID) has been considered as a means of controlling water circulation and NPSs. In the coastal area, permeable blocks have been constructed mainly to reduce the flood damage caused by waves. Some important design factors that must be considered to ensure long-term performance are the permeability coefficient, clogging, and the efficiency of the removal of total suspended solids (TSS), but currently there are no standardized design criteria or testing techniques that are used worldwide. Herein, we analyzed the permeability coefficient and the TSS removal efficiency tendency according to the permeability area ratio with an easily-detachable, permeable block filled with calcinated yellow soils as the filter media. Our lab-scale tests indicated that, when the permeability area ratio was 25%, the reduction of the permeability coefficient after clogged was 11%, which was a significant decrease compared to other cases. Permeability persistence increased when the permeability area ratio increased from 50% to 75%. The TSS removal efficiency decreased as the permeability area ratio increased. Our pilot-scale test indicated that the TSS removal efficiency was more than 80% higher in all cases. We also found that the permeability persistence was excellent as the permeability area ratio increased, and, in actual construction, it is effective to set 5.3% of the total area as permeable area in terms of permeability and economic feasibility.

해저유기퇴적물 수거시스템의 실험 및 수치해석 (Experiments and Numerical Analysis on a System for Collecting Organic Sediment from Seabed)

  • 오염된 퇴적물은 연안의 생태계 파괴에 근본적인 원인이 되고 있음에 따라, 선진 외국에서는 1960년대부터 이러한 문제 해결을 위한 새로울 기술개발을 진행하여 오고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유기퇴적물 수거를 위한 시스템 설계 및 개발에 있어서 오탁확산에 의한 2차 오염을 방지하거나 최소화 할 수 있는 Pilot 규모 형태의 흡입식 펌프 준설 시스템을 설계 제작하였으며, 시스템의 성능시험을 통한 적용 가능성을 제시하였다. 시스템 최적화를 위하여 수치해석기법을 통한 퇴적물 수거 시스템의 형상에 대한 성능평가를 수행하고, 제작 시스템의 성능시험에 있어서는 시스템의 정지 상태와 이동 상태에서의 퇴적물 수거 성능에 대한 실험을 수행하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 해저 유기퇴적물의 상부만을 준설할 수 있는 시스템의 개발 가능성을 확인하였다.

오징어 가공 부산물의 해양투기에 따르는 주변해양환경의 영향에 대한 검토 (Examination of the effect on the surrounding marine environment by disposing of a squid by-product)

  • Squid by-product like viscera has just been recognized as one of the serious pollutants on the surrounding marine environment in Ulleung island of Korea. The effect as a marine pollutant, however, has not been examined and evaluated properly. It was carried out the comprehensive examination of the marine pollution by disposing squid by-products. The sediments and water qualities were investigated in several positions, including the dumping position around Ulleung island. It is also estimated a spreading of by-product in terms of estimating the sinking speed and evaluating the attracting characteristics as a feed. As a result, There were no significant pollutions of the sediment and water quality. The spreading of by-product by the local current was 2-2.5 times of the depth, and it will become longer in spring tide. It was confirmed that the squid by-product has attracting ability for local fish by acoustical survey. Furthermore, it can be useful for the local fish species as feeds.

진해만의 유기주석 오염을 나타내는 대수리와 뿔두드럭고등의 임포섹스 (Imposex of Thais clavigera and T. luteostoma ( Muricidae ) as an Evidence of Origanotin Pollution in Chinhae Bay)

  • 진해만 바위해안 조간대에 서식하는 뿔소라과 2종, 대수리(Thais clavigera)와 뿔두드럭고둥(T. luteostoma), 에서 수컷의 성징이 암컷에게서 발현되는 임포섹스 현상을 조사하였다. 임포섹스는 전 조사정점에서 100% 나타나고 있었으므로 본 조사에서 수컷의 성징을 보이지 않은 암컷은 발견할 수 없었다. 임포섹스의 강도를 나타내는 상대 성기 길이 지수(relative penislength index: RPL)는 34.7%에서 81.1%의 범위에 있었다. 특히 마산만 안쪽의 조사정점에서는 암컷의 구성비가 크게 감소하고 어린 개체를 거의 발견할 수 없는 등 개체군이 임포섹스의 영향을 받고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 두 종의 체내에 함유된 트리부틸주석(TBT)과 트리페닐주석(TPT)의 농도를 분석한 결과 각각 0.18-1.45 $\mu\textrm{g}$/g, 0.42-6.30 $\mu\textrm{g}$/g의 범위에 있었으며, 임포섹스의 정도는 트리부틸주석과 트리페닐주석의 체내 농도와 밀접한 관계를 보였다. s 대수리와 뿔두드럭고등의 임포섹스는 우리 나라에서 유기주석 화합물의 오염을 나타내는 좋은 지표로 사용될 수 있으며, TBT의 사용 규제이후 그 효과를 감시하기 위한 용도로도 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.

마산만 준설사업 및 하수처리장 가동에 따른 진해만의 수질변동 (Water Quality Variations in Jinhae Bay by Dredging & Operating the Sewage Disposal Plant)

  • This study investigates the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and relationships among water quality parameters, which based on 6 years' data(from 1989 to 1994) measured at 16 stations on Jinhae Bay. The results of these analysis, monthly variations range between surface and bottom layer of water quality had a tendency to increase and decrease, and appeared to be at the maximum value in August. The relationships between concentration of COD ana nutrients(DIN and DIP), which obtained by correlation analysis of water quality, were shown $85\%$ and $74\%$, respectively. Using the cluster analysis to develop the division of the sea basin by the dendrogram, before and after dredging of Masan bay and operating a sewage disposal plant, the variation characteristics of water quality of Jinhae Bay were discussed. Through it, we can see the serious pollution of northen sea basin of Jinhae Bay(B2) although dredging Masan bay and operating the sewage disposal plant. As the results, it doesn't appear the improvement effect of water quality in spite of carrying out the effort of water quality improvement.

통합 부식 모니터링 및 통합 제어 시스템의 개발 (Development of Integrated Corrosion Monitoring and Control System)

  • Although there are various factors that threaten the security of ships, one of the most harmful is corrosion. It is not easy to find corroding areas and the status of corrosion, even though corrosion causes serious problems such as submergence and marine pollution as a result of leaking oil and polluted water. To monitor the corrosion of ships, non-destructive inspection, weight loss coupons, electrical resistance, linear polarization resistance, zero resistance ammeter, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy have been developed. However, these methods require much time to detect corrosion, and most are not appropriate for real time monitoring. Coating, sacrificial anode, and impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) methods have been developed to control corrosion. The ICCP and sacrificial anode methods are the most popular ways to prevent ship corrosion. However, ICCP is only appropriate for the outside of a ship and cannot be used for complex structures such as ballast tanks because these are composed of many separate chambers. Sacrificial anodes have to be replaced periodically. This paper proposes an integrated corrosion monitoring and control system (ICMCS) that can detect corrosion in real time and is appropriate for complex structures such as ballast tanks. Because the system uses titanium for an anode, exhausted anodes do not need to be replaced.

모노파일 해상풍력발전의 이송과 설치를 위한 일정계획 및 비용분석 시뮬레이션 (Scheduling and Cost Estimation Simulation for Transportation and Installation of the Offshore Monopile Wind Turbines)

  • For reasons such as global warming, depletion of fossil fuels and the danger of nuclear energy the research and development of renewable energy is actively underway. Wind energy has advantages over another renewable energy in terms of location requirements, energy efficiency and reliability. Nowadays the research and development area is expanded to offshore because it can supply more wind reliability and free from noise pollution. In this study, the monopile offshore wind turbine transportation and installation (T&I) process are investigated. In addition, the schedule and cost for the process are estimated by discrete event simulation. For the simulation, simulation models for various means of T&I are developed. The optimum T&I execution plan with shortest duration and lowest cost can be found by using different mission start day and T&I means.

유처리제의 방향족 탄화수소 정량방법에 대한 표준화 (Standardization for Quantitative Analysis of Aromatic Hydrocarbon in Oil Spill Dispersant)

  • Demand for organic analysis increase as industries are growing and many products are spreaded in the daily life. One of many products is oil spill dispersant. It was used for oil accident in the ocean. When oil spill dispersant spread at the ocean, the petroleum in the ocean is dispersed. The oil spill dispersant is made of non ionic surfactant and petroleum oil. The non ionic surfactant disperse petroleum from oil accident. The other part is petroleum oil which has aromatic hydrocarbon. Because the aromatic hydrocarbon is cancerogenic material, it directly injure animals in the ocean. This cause the second pollution in the human body. Many oil accidents still are controlled by oil spill dispersant. Therefore quality control of the oil spill dispersant become important and this also demand for the exact quantitative analysis of aromatic hydrocarbon. Hereupon the first we develop separate petroleum oil from surfactant. The second standardize analytical method of aromatic hydrocarbon in the separated petroleum oil.

Human Error Analysis Technique and Its Application to Marine Accidents

  • The management of safety at sea is based on a set of internationally accepted regulations and codes, governing or guiding the design and operation of ships. The regulations most directly concerned with human safety and protection of the environment are, in general, agreed internationally through the International Maritime Organization(IMO). IMO has continuously dealt with safety problems and, recognized that the human element is a key factor in both safety and pollution prevention issues(IMO, 2010). This paper proposes a human error analysis methodology which is based on the human error taxonomy and theories (SHELL model, GEMS model and etc.) that were discussed in the IMO guidelines for the investigation of human factors in marine casualties and incidents. In this paper, a cognitive process model, a human error analysis technique and a marine accident causal chains focused on human factors are discussed, and towing vessel collision accidents are analyzed as a case study in order to examine the applicability of the human error analysis technique to marine accidents. Also human errors related to those towing vessel collision accidents and their underlying factors are discussed in detail.

선박설계단계에서 손상안전성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Damage Safety Assessment in Ship Design Stage)

  • Recently ship safety regulations are being reinforced to improve maritime safety and to prevent maritime pollution by International Maritime Organization. It means that the regulation is becoming more proactive rather than reactive. In the mean time, design philosophy is also moving from rule based design to performance and simulation based design. In this paper, a study on practical application of the damage safety assessment system is carried out. The damage stability and the survivability of a cargo ship that was designed based on current regulation is investigated using performance based design tools in order to improve the safety of the design and verify the performance of the developed damage safety assessment system. To do this, damage scenarios is established and the characteristics and geometry the cargo ship is modeled. A new design alternative is proposed with small change in the internal arrangement based on safety evaluation results of the current design.
