A special upper-air observation including airsonde and pibal observations was performed to investigate the characteristics features of the vertical distribution of the meteorological elements over Taegu on a selected clear day of each season from October 1991 to August 1992. The diurnal and seasonal variations of the vertical profiles of air temperature and mixing ratio were obtained from airsonde observations and wind speed and direction from pibal observations. The results of these special upper-air observations are as follow : The diurnal variation of the vertical distribution of air temperature reveals the characteristic features associated with the atmospheric boundary layer. All case days, except for the summer season, show upper-level inversion layer which influenced by surface high, and surface inversion layer produced by radiative cooling. The diurnal variation of mixing ratio shows the maximum vale at 1500 LST in both the upper and low levels, and is larger on the lower level than the upper level. The mixing ratio of the lower level is larger than that of the upper level. On the average the mixing ratio decrease with the height, and is the wettest on the summer case day and the driest on the winter case day. The diurnal variation of the wind velocity and direction are variable in the lower level with time and height, while they are steady in the upper level. On the average, the wind direction is southerly or southeasterly for the summer case day, westerly or northwesterly for the spring and fall case days, and northerly or northwesterly for the winter case day.
Changes of sound absorption capability and anatomical features of wood by delignification treatment was estimated. Sound absorption coefficients of wood and delignificated wood had been measured by the two microphone method and anatomical changes of delignificated wood examined by SEM observation. The sound absorption coefficients of delignificated wood generally seemed to be higher than those of normal specimen. Especially, in the frequency range of 2 to 4 KHz, they was about 50% higher than those of normal specimen. Abundant small cracks generated on the cross sectional surface of delignificated wood and the weight of delignificated wood decreased about 8% than that of normal wood. It was considered that the small cracks formed by delignification treatment behaved as a sound absorbing pore.

Although mass accretion from the disk to the central protostar is a key process of low mass star formation, the accretion mechanism is still poorly understood. To investigate "episodic accretion", which has been suggested as an accretion mechanism in low mass star formation, we have carried out near-infrared spectroscopic observations of three very low-luminosity objects (VeLLOs) and one background source, using InfraRed Camera onboard the AKARI space telescope. The ice absorption features of $H_2O$, $CO_2$, and CO were detected around the wavelengths of 3.0, 4.26, and $4.67{\mu}m$, respectively. In addition, we revealed the XCN ice feature, which is attributed to high energy UV photons produced by the episodic burst accretion. The comparisons of the ice abundances of our targets with those of other YSOs observed previously with AKARI IRC imply that the three VeLLOs had experienced burst accretions although they are now in a very quiescent phase.
The Indian summer monsoon behaved an abnormal way in 2002 and as a result there was a large deficiency in precipitation (especially in July) over a large part of the Indian subcontinent. For the study of deficient monsoon of 2002, a recent version of the NCAR regional climate model (RegCM3) has been used to examine the important features of summer monsoon circulations and precipitation during 2002. The main characteristics of wind fields at lower level (850 hPa) and upper level (200 hPa) and precipitation simulated with the RegCM3 over the Indian subcontinent are studied using different cumulus parameterization schemes namely, mass flux schemes, a simplified Kuo-type scheme and Emanuel (EMU) scheme. The monsoon circulation features simulated by RegCM3 are compared with the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis and simulated precipitation is validated against observation from the Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC). Validation of the wind fields at lower and upper levels show that the use of Arakawa and Schubert (AS) closure in Grell convection scheme, a Kuo type and Emanuel schemes produces results close to the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis. Similarly, precipitation simulated with RegCM3 over different homogeneous zones of India with the AS closure in Grell is more close to the corresponding observed monthly and seasonal values. RegcM3 simulation also captured the spatial distribution of deficient rainfall in 2002.

Since the Urechis unicinctus-oocyte grows asynchronously in the body fluid, various oocytes in developmental stages can be prepared from each individual. The oocytes obtained from the coelomic fluid are then classified into five developmental stages according to the fine structural features. The earlier oocytes (${\sim}18{\mu}m$) form cluster and thereafter the oocytes grow singly without a distinct support of somatic cell, such as accessory cell or matrix cell. The yolk granules begin to appear already in the oocyte of cluster stage, however, the typical yolk was observed at the stage IV. Therefore, it was suggested that the yolk deposition is correlated with the coelomic fluid. The mature oocyte measured about $150{\mu}m$ produces the invagination not only on oolemma(indentation) but also on nuclear envelope. After the formation of the indentation, the mature ooytes are stored in storge sacs. The fine structural features were combined in aspect of structural concept of light microscopical observation.

C.elegans are often used to study of function of gene, but it is difficult for human observation to distinguish the mutants of C.elegans. To solve this problem, the system, which can classify the mutant types automatically using the computer vision, is now studying. Tn previous work[1], we described the preprocessing method for automated-classification system. In this paper, we introduce shape features, which can be extracted from an acquisition image. We divide the feature into two categories, which are related to size and posture of the worm, and each feature is described mathematically We validate the shape information experimentally. And we use hierarchical clustering algorithm for classification. It reveals that 4 mutants of the worm, which are used in experiment, can be classified with over 90% of success rate.

Acidic fog is catastrophic to aviation and potentially affect materials, vegetation, crops and public health. This paper was carried out to investigate the chemical features of fog sample at Mt. Sobaek (mean sea level : 1, 340m) from June to August 1995. Each sample was analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity and major ions (anion : $Cl^N)_3^-, SO_4^{2-}, cation : Na^+, NH_4^+, K^+, Mg^{2+}, Ca^{2+}$) by ion chromatography. The quality analysis of fog sample data was performed based on ion balance and electrical conductivity method. The wind directions are subdivided into the northerly and southerly wind according to the wind direction data at the Sobaek-san meteorological observation station. Statistical analyses were performed on the complete set of results in order to obtain a description of fog sample. All the statistical treatment was carried out using the SPSS/PC + software package. The major ion concentration of fog samples was higher for the northwesterly wind cases than sourtheasterly wind cases. The pH of fog sample varied between 2.95 and 6.08. The average pH and electrical conductivity of total sample (n=210) were 4.39 and 113.0 $\mu$S/cm, respectively. It may be noted that in nearly all the cases, the dominant major ions in the fog sample at Mt. Sobaek were $SO_4^{2-}, NO_3^-, H^+ and NH_4^+$.
This experiment has been done in order to study the correlation between the ultrastructure changes and the atresia phenomenon of the follicles in porcine ovary. The ovaries were assorted according to the presence or absence of corpus luteum. Thereafter, the follicles were classified into normal, pyknotic, necrotic and cystic groups by atretic characteristics on the histological observation, and then their ultrastructures were examined with an electron microscope. The results were as followings. 1. In normal group, granulosa cells represented the ultrastructural characteristics of protein-synthesizing cells. Since the initiation of atresia, the line structure of granulosa cells showed many of the characteristic features of steroid-secreting cells, followed by gradual pyknosis. 2. In necrotic group of the ovary without corpus luteum, the theca interns became hypertrophic and displayed the ultrastructural features of active steroidsecreting cells. But this phenomenon was not seen in the follicles of the ovary with corpus luteum. 3. Degenerative changes of cumulus cells were similar to those of granulosa cells, and the degenerating oocytes showed the degeneration of cellular organelles, cytoplasmic vacuolization and disappearance of microvilli on the surface. The degeneration of granulosa cells tended to procede that of oocytecumulus complex in the follicles of the ovary having no corpus luteum, but this tendency was reversed in the case of presence of corpus luteum. In conclusion, it may be unable to identi(y the initiation of follicular atresia
The pumpability of the grouts is significant issue in concept of the rheological and workability properties during penetrating to voids and cracks. To improve the fluidity features of the grout mixes, the usage of Colloidal Nano Particular Powders (CNPPs) with mineral additives such as fly ash (FA) can contribute. Therefore, the main purpose of this study can be explained as investigating the usage effects of four types of Colloidal Nano Particular Powders (n-TiO2, n-ZnO, n-Al2O3 and n-SiO2) as nano additives on the rheological, workability and bleeding properties of cement-based grout incorporated with fly as. Test results showed that the usage of FA in the grout samples positively contribute to increase on the fluidity of the grout samples as expected. The dilatant behavior was observed from the results for all mixes. Observing the effect of nano-sized additives in such cement-based grout mixtures with high fluidity has presented remarkable effects in this study.
