This study proposes an OMS/MP preparation methodology using a simulation method instead of a survey method. We applied our methodology to the next generation detection radar, providing reasonable peace- and war-time OMS/MP values. Based on these results, we propose the process to calculate RAM objective values. The previous survey method required to supplement its method since the method used data from a similar weapon system. In addition, the previous method didn't provide enough reliability for the future weapon system. Instead of using the previous survey method, we propose to use war game simulation, which provides a better OMS/MP values. Based on these results, we propose the logical consecutive process that prepares combat and simulation scenarios, peace- and war-time OMS/MP values and RAM objective values.

The present research study utilizes a multi-objective optimization method for Pareto optimization of an eight-degree of freedom full vehicle vibration model, adopting a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II). In this research, a full set of ride comfort as well as ride safety parameters are considered as objective functions. These objective functions are divided in to two groups (ride comfort group and ride safety group) where the ones in one group are in conflict with those in the other. Also, in this research, a special optimizing technique and combinational method consisting of weighted sum method and Pareto optimization are applied to transform Pareto double-objective optimization to Pareto full-objective optimization which can simultaneously minimize all objectives. Using this technique, the full set of ride parameters of three dimensional vehicle model are minimizing simultaneously. In derived Pareto front, unique trade-off design points can selected which are non-dominated solutions of optimizing the weighted sum comfort parameters versus weighted sum safety parameters. The comparison of the obtained results with those reported in the literature, demonstrates the distinction and comprehensiveness of the results arrived in the present study.
Topology optimization of structures seeking the best distribution of mass in a design space to improve the structural performance and reduce the weight of a structure is one of the most comprehensive issues in the field of structural optimization. In addition to structures stiffness as the most common objective function, frequency optimization is of great importance in variety of applications too. In this paper, an efficient multi-objective Bi-directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization (BESO) method is developed for topology optimization of frequency and stiffness in continuum structures simultaneously. A software package including a Matlab code and Abaqus FE solver has been created for the numerical implementation of multi-objective BESO utilizing the weighted function method. At the same time, by considering the weaknesses of the optimized structure in single-objective optimizations for stiffness or frequency problems, slight modifications have been done on the numerical algorithm of developed multi-objective BESO in order to overcome challenges due to artificial localized modes, checker boarding and geometrical symmetry constraint during the progressive iterations of optimization. Numerical results show that the proposed Multiobjective BESO method is efficient and optimal solutions can be obtained for continuum structures based on an existent finite element model of the structures.
In a previous study, the authors have proposed the Cooperative Collision Avoidance (CCA) method which enables mobile robots to cooperatively avoid collisions, by extending the concept of the Velocity Obstacle to multiple robot systems. The method introduced an evaluation function considering an operation objective so that each robot can choose the velocity which optimizes the function. As the evaluation function could be of an arbitrary type, this method is applicable to a wide variety of tasks. However, it complicates the optimization of the function especially in real-time. In addition, construction of the evaluation function requires an operation objective of the other robot which is very hard to obtain without communication. In this paper, the CCA method is improved considering such problems for implementation. To decrease computational costs, the previous method is simplified by introducing two essential assumptions. Then, by treating the desired direction of locomotion for each robot as the operation objective, an operation objective estimator which estimates the desired direction of the other robot is introduced. The only measurement required is the other robot's relative position, since the other information can be obtained through the estimation. Hence, communicational devices that are necessary for most other cooperative methods are not required. Moreover, mobile robots employing the method can avoid collisions with uncooperative robots or moving obstacles as well as with cooperative robots. Consequently, this improved method can be applied to general dynamic environments consisting of various mobile robots.
Classical full waveform inversion for velocity estimation defines the objective function as the $l^2$ -norm of differences between the modeled and the observed wavefields. Although widely used, the results of this method have been less than satisfactory. A moderate improvement of this method is to define the objective function as the $l^2$ -norm of differences between the logarithms of the modeled and observed wavefields. In this paper we propose new objective functions of waveform inversion. They produce better results in sub-salt imaging than those of the classical and the logarithmic objective functions. One objective function defines the residual as the difference between $L^{th}$ power of the modeled wavefields and that of the observed wavefields. Another defines the residual as the difference between the integral of the $L^{th}$ power of the modeled wavefields and that of the observed wavefields. We apply these new objective functions to the synthetic SEG/EAGE salt model, and show that our new waveform inversion algorithms provide more accurate results than those of the classical and logarithmic waveform inversion methods.

In this study, a method for the multi-objective optimization of an impeller for a centrifugal compressor using fluid-structure interaction (FSI) and response surface method (RSM) was proposed. Numerical simulation was conducted using ANSYS CFX and Mechanical with various configurations of impeller geometry. Each design parameter was divided into 3 levels. A total of 15 design points were planned using Box-Behnken design, which is one of the design of experiment (DOE) techniques. Response surfaces based on the results of the DOE were used to find the optimal shape of the impeller. Two objective functions, isentropic efficiency and equivalent stress were selected. Each objective function is an important factor of aerodynamic performance and structural safety. The entire process of optimization was conducted using the ANSYS Design Xplorer (DX). The trade-off between the two objectives was analyzed in the light of Pareto-optimal solutions. Through the optimization, the structural safety and aerodynamic performance of the centrifugal compressor were increased.
Multimedia applications and especially encoded video services, are expected to playa major role in the 3rd generation (3G) and beyond mobile communication systems. Given that future service providers are expected to provide video applications at various price and quality levels, quick and economically affordable methods for preparing/encoding the offering media at various qualities are necessary to be developed. This paper presents a method for objective evaluation of the perceived quality of MPEG4 video content, based on a quantification of subjective assessments. Showing that subjectively derived perceived quality of service (PQoS) vs. bit rate curves can be successfully approximated by a group of exponential functions, the proposed method exploits a simple objective metric, which is obtained from the mean frame rate vs. bit rate curves of an encoded clip. The validity of this metric is assessed by comparing subjectively derived PQoS results to the corresponding ones, which come from the proposed objective method, showing that the proposed technique provides satisfactory PQoS estimation.

A new algorithm is proposed for training the multilayer perceptrion(MLP) in pattern classification problems to accelerate the learning speed. It is shown that the sigmoid activation function of the output node can have deterimental effect on the performance of learning. To overcome this detrimental effect and to use the information fully in supervised learning, an objective function for binary modes is proposed. This objective function is composed with two new output activation functions which are selectively used depending on desired values of training patterns. The effect of the objective function is analyzed and a training algorithm is proposed based on this. Its performance is tested in several examples. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed method is better than that of the conventional error back propagation (EBP) method.
To alleviate the cold-start problem and data sparsity in web service recommendation and meet the personalized needs of users, this paper proposes a personalized web service recommendation method based on a hybrid social network and multi-objective immune optimization. The network adds the element of the service provider, which can provide more real information and help alleviate the cold-start problem. Then, according to the proposed service recommendation framework, multi-objective immune optimization is used to fuse multiple attributes and provide personalized web services for users without adjusting any weight coefficients. Experiments were conducted on real data sets, and the results show that the proposed method has high accuracy and a low recall rate, which is helpful to improving personalized recommendation.
This paper proposes an optimal design method of a seismic reinforcement system for the seismic performance of adjacent asymmetric-stiffness structures with viscous dampers. The first method considers plan asymmetry for efficient seismic reinforcement, and evaluates the seismic performance of optimal design applied to two cases of modeling: adjacent stiffness-asymmetric structures and adjacent stiffness-symmetric structures. The second method considers the response of asymmetric structures to derive the optimal objective function, and evaluates seismic efficiency of the objective function applied to two cases of responses: horizontal displacement and torsion. Numerical analyses are conducted on 7- and 10-story structures with a uni-asymmetric-stiffness plan using six cases of historic earthquakes, normalized to 0.4g. The results indicate that the seismic performance is excellent as modeled by adjacent asymmetric-stiffness structures and how much horizontal displacement is applied as the objective function.
