  • This paper summarizes a development of visualization software for protective engineering in low-voltage power systems. The study is concentrated on the following aspects. First, a software engineering method is applied for designing the object-oriented program. The design and implementation of a Graphic User Interface(GUI) and its integration to a power system framework are developed using object-oriented programming(OOP) in Visual C++. Second, we develop the short circuit analysis module that oriented a low-voltage power system. It is possible to calculate a peak, symmetrical RMS, DC component and asymmetrical fault currents for each time. And it is the first software that can calculate the fault current for single branch of three-phase system. The calculation accuracy is compared with commercial software, and the libraries of low-voltage components are served for convenience use. Third, protective engineering functions are equipped. It is possible to automatically select the circuit breaker which based on the user input characteristics and the fault current calculation and examine the protective coordination. Through the case study, we verified that the developed software can be effectively used to examine the protective engineering in low-voltage power systems.

  • In this study, a hardware-independent software scheme is proposed to visualize biomedical signals such as an electrocardiogram(ECG) and their relevant diagnostic features in a real-time mode. To minimize the dependency on a specific hardware units and to maximize software portability into the different hardware platforms, objected-oriented visualization codes are implemented by Visual C++ MFC(Microsoft Fundamental Classes) with the integration of ActiveX modules.

  • This paper concerns a design of programmable MPEG decoder for video processing by object unit on network. The decoder can process video data effectively by a embedded controller with stack buffers for supporting OOP (Object-Oriented Programming). The controller offers extended instructions that process several data types including 32bit integer type. In addition to that, we have a vector processor, in this decoder that can execute advanced compensation and prediction by half pixel and SA(Shape Adaptive)-IDCT of MPEG-4. Absolutors and halfers in the vector processor make this architecture extensive to a encoder. We verified the decoder with $0.6\mu\textrm{m}$ 5-Volt CMOS COMPASS library.

  • IEC and CISPR have continuously endeavored the measurement method of Immunity Test as international unification, but not established yet. The main reason is that the measurement method and the normalization of threshold to obtain the complicated parameters for Immunity Test are difficult. Thus, the Immunity Test Setups are used differently according to the measured electromagnetic environments. This study developed an Immunity Test System and Algorithm for measurement software suitable for IEC801-3 Regulatons using ready-made amplifier, signal generator, and developes interconnecting interface board interacting with other appratus i.e., RF Switch, Power Meter, Field Sensor and Pre-amp. We are to develope an automated software using Top/Down and OOP(Object Oriented Programming) method.

  • A modified Delaunay triangulation technique is tested for complicated computational domain. While a simple geometry. both in topology and geometry, has been well discretized into triangular elements, a complex geometry having difficulty in triangulation had to be divided into small sub-domains of simpler shape. The present study presents a modified Delaunay triangulation method based on the data structure of geometric modeller. This approach greatly enhances the reliability of triangulation, especially in complicated computational domain. We have shown that efficiency of Delaunay triangulation can be much improved by using both the GUI (Graphic User Interface) and OOP (Object-Oriented Programming).

  • In this paper development of on-line data visualization program is described and some examples of data postprocessing are shown. The program is written in JAVA language and runs as a JAVA applet on the web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. Remote users can use the program to visualize and analyze their own flow data by accessing the program server through the internet and loading data files in proper formats from their local computers. This paper describes briefly about algorithms for data visualization, structure and available functions of the program, and web sever system. The mechanism of how the JAVA applet can access and process local data files and relevant coding techniques are explained as well. Also explained is what is required for the remote users and client computers to access the program on-line. Some visualization examples performed on a local computer are illustrated by accessing the server remotely.

  • The Delaunay triangulation technique was tested for complicated shapes of computational domain. While a simple geometry, both in topology and in geometry, was discretized well into triangular elements. a complex geometry often failed in triangularization. A complex geometry should be devided into smaller sub-domains whose shape is simple both topologically and geometrically. The present study developed the data structures not only for relationships among neibering elements but also for shape information, and coupled these into the Delaunay triangulation technique. This approach was able to enhance greatly the reliability of triangularization specially in complicated shapes of computational domains. The GUI (Graphic User Interface) and OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) were used in order to develop the user-friendly and efficient computer code.

  • Developed in this research is a surface modeling kernel for various CAD/CAM applications. Its internal surface representations are rational parametric polynomials, which are generalizations of nonrational Bezier, Ferguson, Coons and NURBS surface, and are very fast in evaluation. The kernel is designed under the OOP concepts and coded in C++ on PCs. The present implementation of the kernel supports surface construction methods, such as point data interpolation, skinning, sweeping and blending. It also has NURBS conversion routines and offers the IGES and ZES format for geometric information exchange. It includes some geometric processing routines, such as surface/surface intersection, curve/surface intersection, curve projection and so forth. We are continuing to work with the kernel and eventually develop a B-Rep based solid modeler.
