  • Aerial objects are more challenging to segment than normal objects, which are usually smaller and have less textural detail. In the process of segmentation, target objects are easily omitted and misdetected, which is problematic. To alleviate these issues, we propose local aggregation feature pyramid networks (LAFPNs) and pyramid integrated context modules (PICMs) for aerial object segmentation. First, using an LAFPN, while strengthening the deep features, the extent to which low-level features interfere with high-level features is reduced, and numerous dense and small aerial targets are prevented from being mistakenly detected as a whole. Second, the PICM uses global information to guide local features, which enhances the network's comprehensive understanding of an entire image and reduces the missed detection of small aerial objects due to insufficient texture information. We evaluate our network with the MS COCO dataset using three categories: airplanes, birds, and kites. Compared with Mask R-CNN, our network achieves performance improvements of 1.7%, 4.9%, and 7.7% in terms of the AP metrics for the three categories. Without pretraining or any postprocessing, the segmentation performance of our network for aerial objects is superior to that of several recent methods based on classic algorithms.

  • Recently, development of digital technology is occupying a large part of multimedia information like character, voice, image, video, etc. Research about video indexing and retrieval progresses especially in research relative to video. In this paper, we propose new algorithm(Frame Feature Comparison) for MPEG video segmentation. Shot, Scene Change detection is basic and important works that segment it in MPEG video sequence. Generally, the segmentation algorithm that uses much has defect that occurs an error detection according to a flash of camera, movement of camera and fast movement of an object, because of comparing former frames with present frames. Therefore, we distinguish a scene change one more time using a scene change point detected in the conventional algorithm through comparing its mean value with abutted frames. In the result, we could detect more corrective scene change than the conventional algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a video data segmentation method using edge and color distribution of video frames and also develop a video browser by using the proposed algorithm. To segment a video, we use a 644-bin HSV color histogram and the edge information which generated with automatic threshold method. We consider scene's characteristics by using positions and colo distributions of object in each frame. We develop a hierarchical and a shot-based browser for video browsing. We also show that our proposed method is less sensitive to light effects and more robust to motion effects than previous ones like a histogram-based method by testing with various video data.

  • In this paper an extension to an original active shape model(ASM) for facial feature extraction is presented. The original ASM suffers from poor shape alignment by aligning the shape model to a new instant of the object in a given image using a simple similarity transformation. It exploits only informations such as scale, rotation and shift in horizontal and vertical directions, which does not cope effectively with the complex pose variation. To solve the problem, new shape alignment with 6 degrees of freedom is derived, which corresponds to an affine transformation. Another extension is to speed up the calculation of the Mahalanobis distance for 2-D profiles by trimming the profile covariance matrices. Extensive experiment is conducted with several images of varying poses to check the performance of the proposed method to segment the human faces.

  • In this paper, a neural network based approach using a self-organizing feature map is proposed for the segmentation of X ray images. A number of algorithms based on such approaches as histogram analysis, region growing, edge detection and pixel classification have been proposed for segmentation of general images. However, few approaches have been applied to X ray image segmentation because of blur of the X ray image and vagueness of its edge, which are inherent properties of X ray images. To this end, we develop a new model based on the neural network to detect objects in a given X ray image. The new model utilizes Mumford-Shah functional incorporating with a modified adaptive SOFM. Although Mumford-Shah model is an active contour model not based on the gradient of the image for finding edges in image, it has some limitation to accurately represent object images. To avoid this criticism, we utilize an adaptive self organizing feature map developed earlier by the authors.[1] It's learning rule is derived from Mumford-Shah energy function and the boundary of blurred and vague X ray image. The evolution of the neural network is shown to well segment and represent. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed method, segmentation of an industrial part is solved and the experimental results are discussed in detail.

  • Safety and security during the handling of hazardous materials is a great concern for anyone in the field. One driving point in the security field is the ability to detect the source of the danger and take action against it as quickly as possible. Via the usage of a fully convolutional network, it is possible to create the label map of an input image, indicating what object is occupying the specific area of the image. This research employs the usage of U-net, which was constructed in biomedical field segmentation to segment cells, instead of the original FCN. One of the challenges that this research faces is the availability of ground truth with precise labeling for the dataset. Testing the network after training resulted in some images where the network pronounces even better detail than the expected label map. With better detailed label map, the network might be able to produce better segmentation is something to be studied in further research.

The SYMBOL-GEN software is for improving graphic processing speed and decreasing data communication load in ASC by genera ting and downloading off-line symbol file for HUD and MFD , which are the main display equipments in military aircraft. The SYMBOL-GEN is developed on PC using C++ language and MS Visual Studio 6.0 development tool. It is also designed to be modified and extended easily by introducing object-oriented software development technique.

  • This paper is using motion tracking by image segmentation to monitor intruders and to confirm based on mobile the relevant information. First, detect frame in animation that film fixed area, and make use of image subtraction between two frame that adjoin, segment fixed backing and target who move. Segmental foreground object to the edge detecting the location specified by the edge of the median estimate extracted by analyzing the motion of the intruders to monitor. When a motion is detected, the detected image is transmitted by using the W AP pull basis image transmission method on the mobile client data terminal.

  • The goal of this study is to segment building points effectively utilizing scan-line characteristics of airborne laser scanner. Points are classified as to their altitude similarity and adjacency with other classified points, and point searching range for the classification is restricted within some number of scan-lines, preventing classification speed from lowering as the process goes on. Besides, we detected wrong discrimination of one object into more than two classes, then integrated them into a single class. Consequently we could discriminate points of each building from others, its annexes and none building points simultaneously.
