Structuring Element Representation of an Image and Its Applications

  • In this paper we present the linear combination of a fuzzy opening and closing filter with locally adaptive structuring elements that can preserve the geometrical features of an image. Based on the adaptation algorithm of linear combination of the fuzzy opening and closing filter, the optimal structuring element for image representation is obtained. The optimal structuring element is an indicator of the shape and direction of an object's image, which is useful in filtering, multi resolution, segmentation, and recognition of an image.

  • A holistic representation, such as sparse ceding or independent component analysis (ICA), was successfully applied to explain early auditory processing and sound classification. In contrast, Part-based representation is an alternative way of understanding object recognition in brain. In this paper. we employ the non-negative matrix factorization (NMF)[1]which learns parts-based representation for sound classification. Feature extraction methods from spectrogram using NMF are explained. Experimental results show that NMF-based features improve the performance of sound classification over ICA-based features.

  • The purpose of this paper is to show that a certain finite dimensional representation of the rational Cherednik algebra of type A has a basis consisting of simultaneous eigenvectors for the actions of a certain family of commuting elements, which are introduced in the author's previous paper. To this end, we introduce a combinatorial object, which is called a restricted arrangement of colored beads, and consider an action of the affine symmetric group on the set of the arrangements.

물체의 구 좌표계 표현을 이용한 효율적인 렌더링 방법 (An Efficient Rendering Method of Object Representation Based on Spherical Coordinate System)

  • 본 논문에서는 보다 효율적인 렌더링을 위해 물체를 구좌표계(sperical coordinate system) 상에서 표현하는 새로운 렌더링 알고리즘이 제안된다. 먼저 직교 좌표로 표현되어 있는 물체의 정점을 구좌표로 변환하고, 카메라의 가시 절두체(frustum) 영역 내의 정점을 판단하기 위해 삼각형의 무게중심, 색인(index), 메모리 접근(access) 맵 등의 자료구조를 구성한다. 제안된 방법은 카메라에 의해 보여지는 영역, 즉 렌더링되는 물체의 가시 영역에 해당하는 정점만으로 렌더링한다. 따라서 렌더링 파이프라인에서 고려되는 정점의 개수를 크게 줄여 전체적인 시스템 성능이 크게 향상되었음을 실험을 통해서 확인하였다.

  • In many literatures of model management, various schemes for representing model base schema have proposed. Ultimately, the goal is to arrive at a set of mutually supportive and synergistic methodologies and tools for the modeling problem domain and model base design. This paper focus on how best to structure and represent conceptual model of problem domain and schema of model base. Semantic concepts and modeling constructs are valuable conceptual tools for understanding the structural relationships and constraints involved in an model management environment. To this end, we reviewed the model management literature, and analyzed the constructs of modeling tools of data model management graph-based approach. Although they have good tools but most of them are not enough for the representation of structural relationships and constraints. So we wanted more powerful tools which can represent diverse constructs in a decision support modeling and model base schema design. For the design of a model base, we developed object modeling framework which uses Object Modeling Techniques (OMT). In Object Modeling Framework, model base schema are classified into conceptual schema, logical schema, and physical schema. The conceptual schema represents the user's view of problem domain, and the logical schema represents a model formatted by a particular modeling language. The schema design, this paper proposes an extension of Object Model to overcome some of the limitations exhibited by the OMT. The proposed tool, Extended Object Model(EOM) have diverse constructs for the representation of decision support problem domain and conceptual model base schema.

움직임 추정 능동 방사선 기반 고속 객체 추적 (Motion-Estimated Active Rays-Based Fast Moving Object Tracking)

  • 객체 중심점에서 움직임을 추정하여 빠르게 이동하는 객체의 윤곽선을 추적 할 수 있는 알고리듬을 제안하였다. 방사상 표현(radial representation) 방식을 적용하여 객체 중심점에서만 블록정합 (block matching) 알고리듬으로 움직임을 추정하여 적은 계산량으로 객체 움직임을 추정함으로써 객체 윤곽선을 추적하였다. 객체의 움직임을 추정함으로써 프레임 간 객체의 움직임이 객체 중심에서 윤곽까지 거리 이상 빠르게 이동하는 객체도 추적할 수 있다. 에너지 수렴 과정에서 기울기 영상과 차영상(difference image)을 에너지 함수로 함께 사용함으로 복잡한 배경 등에도 강건하도록 하였다. 실험 결과 움직임이 빠른 객체와 복잡한 배경 속의 객체도 실시간으로 강건하게 추적함을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose a new object representation method and matching algorithm for object recognition using a 3-fingered robot hand. Each finger tip can measure normal vector and shapes of a contacting surface. Object is represented by the inter-surface description table where the features of a surface are described in the diagonal and the relations between two surfaces are in the upper diagonal. Based on this table, a fast and the efficient matching algorithm has been proposed. This algorithm can be applied to natural quadric objects.

  • A computer program for matrix structural analysis by object-oriented programming technique using $C^{++}$ language has been developed. Object, class, method and inheritance which are used in object-oriented programming are illustrated using a graphical representation. The matrix operations and the structural analysis by matrix displacement method were satisfactorily performed by the proposed program. Numerical tests demonstrate that this proposed program can be widely used for the matrix structural analysis for personal computers.s.

임의 형상의 복합재 모델링을 위한 CSG 기반 표현 (CSG-based Representation for Free-form Heterogeneous Object Modeling)

  • This paper proposes a CSG-based representation scheme for heterogeneous objects including multi-material objects and Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs). In particular, this scheme focuses on the construction of complicated heterogeneous objects guaranteeing desired material continuities at all the interfaces. In order to create various types of heterogeneous primitives, we first describe methods for specifying material composition functions such as geometry-independent, geometry-dependent functions. Constructive Material Composition (CMC) and corresponding heterogeneous Boolean Operators (e.g. material union, difference, intersection. and partition) are then proposed to illustrate how material continuities are dealt with. Finally, we describe the model hierarchy and data structure for computer representation. Even though the proposed scheme alone is sufficient for modeling all sorts of heterogeneous objects, the proposed scheme adopts a hybrid representation between CSG and decomposition. That is because hybrid representation can avoid the unnecessary growth of binary trees.

  • 객체 모델링 기법의 그래픽 표현을 이용하여 자료의 추상화, 캡슐화, 모듈화, 계층화 할 수 있는 새로운 그래픽 정보시스템 개발 기술이 절실히 필요하다. 그래픽 자료의 추상화 방법을 개선하기 위하여 복합객체 기술로 자료의 추상화와 계층화 개념을 기반으로 모델링하였으며, 메쉬, 레이어, 세그먼트, 인스턴스 등과 같은 여러 가지 도형요소의 클래스들을 지원하는 분류화와 다중상속 관계모델을 제안한다. 객체 모델링 기법과 스파이스 참조 모델을 이용하여 간단한 그래픽 정보시스템 개발사례를 통하여 소프트웨어 개발주기와 소프트웨어 유지보수 비용을 줄일 수 있는 요구사항을 지원하는 객체 표현 방법의 데이터 모델링 기법을 비교하고 평가한다.
