Off-time Control Method for High Power Density AC/DC Adapter (고전력밀도 AC/DC Adapter를 위한 off-time 제어법)

  • The proposed method offers an improved control method for high power density AC/DC adapter by using more energy efficient electrical equipments. Power factor correction (PFC) topology is based on boost topology with boundary conduction mode (BCM). DC/DC topology is based on half-bridge topology with fixed 50% duty and newly introduced off-time control method, which helps to reduce size of the semiconductor and the magnetic devices. Test results with 85W AC/DC adapter (18.5V/4.6A) design show that the measured efficiency is 90% with power density of $36W/in^3$. It also shows low no load power consumption of about 0.5W.

A Study on the Comparison of Psychosocial Adjustment of Children with Cancer between on and off Treatment (치료 중인 암환아와 치료 종료 암환아의 사회심리적 적응에 관한 비교 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare psychosocial adjustment in children aged 4-11 years with cancer between on and off treatment. Method: The data was collected from parents of children with cancer through interviews with structured questionnaire at the pediatric outpatient department and inpatient ward of one university hospital located in Seoul. The instrument were the Child Behavior Check List(CBCL) developed by Achenbach(1991) and revised to standardize for Korean children by Oh et al(1997). Result: Total behavior problem score for children on treatment was greater than the score off treatment but there was no significant difference. Children on treatment reported higher levels of depression/anxiety, withdrawal, internalizing scores than children off treatment. Social competence score of children off treatment was greater than the score on treatment and the difference of school performance score of children between on and off treatment was not significant. The scores on the withdrawal, somatic complaints, social immaturity, internalizing scales in the cancer group including both on and off treatment was greater than normative findings in the general population. The scores on the school competence of children off treatment were lower than the norms for healthy children. Conclusion: Findings from this study support the importance of nursing interventions to facilitate the adjustment of children with cancer both on and off therapy.

  • In this paper, we present a new SVPWM strategy for a 3-level inverter. This SVPWM method is easily implemented without switching table like SVPWM. In addition, with proposed method, we can also keep the voltage balancing of DC-link capacitors and guarantee minimum on/off time of the devices. The principle of the proposed SVPWM method is described in detail, and its implementation method is also proposed. The usefulness of the proposed SVPWM method is verified through the simulation using MATLAB/Simulink.

  • Up to now, Most studies of hydroelasticity are about frequency domain analysis. Those aren't suited for analysis of the landing take-off, and dropping of aircraft on a structure. So, the concern of this paper is the transient behavior of a VLFS subjected to dynamic load, induced by airplane landing and take-off. To predict the added mass, damping coefficient, and wave exciting force, the source-dipole distribution method was used in the frequency domain. The responses are accomplished by using the FEM scheme. A time domain analysis method is based on the Newmark β method to pursue the time step procedure, taking advantage of memory effect function for hydrodynamic effects.

  • In this study, the thermal environment characteristics of On-Off control and thermal difference proportional control method in floor radiant heating system were researched by computer simulation. For the analysis of unsteady heat transfer phenomena in household, the method of using electrical equivalent R-C circuit is applied, and radiation heat transfer between panel, ceiling and walls in household is calculated by enclosure analysis method. The parametric study on two control methods, conventional on-off control and temperature error based time control(T.E.B.T.C.) method, are performed to compare thermal heating control performances, respectively.

  • In this study, an interactive programming method for robot in electronic part assembly task is proposed. Many of industrial robots are still taught and programmed by a teach pendant. The robot is guided by a human operator to the desired application locations. These motions are recorded and are later edited, within the robotic language using in the robot controller, and play back repetitively to perform robot task. This conventional teaching method is time-consuming and somewhat dangerous. In the proposed method, the operator teaches the desired locations on the image acquired through CCD camera mounted on the robot hand. The robotic language program is automatically generated and downloaded to the robot controller. This teaching process is implemented through an off-line programming software. The OLP is developed for an robotic assembly system used in this study. In order to transform the location on image coordinates into robot coordinates, a calibration process is established. The proposed teaching method is implemented and evaluated on an assembly system for soldering electronic parts on a circuit board. A six-axis articulated robot executes assembly task according to the off-line teaching in the system.

Output Voltage Control Method of Switched Reluctance Generator using the Turn-off Angle Control

  • SRG (Switched Reluctance Generator) have many advantages such as high efficiency, low cost, high-speed capability and robustness compared with characteristics of other machines. However, the control methods that have been adopted for SRGs are complicated. This paper proposes a simple control method using PID controller that only controls turn-off angles while keeping turn-on angles of SRG constant. The linear characteristics between the generated current and the turn-off angle can be used to control the turn-off angle for load variations. Since the reference current for generation can be produced from an error between the reference and the real voltage, it can be controlled to keep the output voltage constant. The proposed control method enhances the robustness of this system and simplifies the hardware and software by using only the voltage and speed sensors. The proposed method is verified by experimental results.

Residual Stress Distribution on the Fillet Weldment used by Finite Element Method (유한요소법을 이용한 필렛용접 이음부의 잔류응력분포)

  • A transient heat transfer analysis and thermo-elastic analysis have been performed for the residual stress distribution on the fillet weldment used by finite element method. Specimen is fabricated single-pass fillet welding. This computation was performed for conditions including surface heat flux and temperature dependent thermo-physical properties using by heat input as parameter. Also, cut-off temperature of residual stress estimation by thermo-elastic analysis is determined. The fillet weldment were measured to determined their residual stress distributions for using hole-drilling method. As result, it was found that large tensile residual stress is about material yield strength, and the numerical simulation results for finite element method similar to residual stresses by hole-drilling method and other exiting research. Also, cut-off temperature is effectively determined by temperature which calculated maximum thermal stress equal to material yield strength.

  • This paper considers the cell loss probability(CLP) in a multiplexer with the superposition of heterogeneous ON/OFF sources. The input traffic is composed of k classes. Traffic of class i is the superposition of M_(i) ON/OFF sources. Recently, the method based on the Markov modulated deterministic process(MMDP) is presented. Basically, it is the discretized model of stochastic fluid flow process(SFFP) and gives the CLP very fast, but under-estimates the CLP especially when the value of estimated CLP is very low. This paper develops the discretized model of Markov modulated Poisson process(MMPP). It is a special type of switched batch Bernoulli process(SBBP). Combining the transition probability matrix of MMDP and SBBP according to the state which is characterized by the arrival rate, this paper presents hybrid algorithm. The hybrid algorithm gives better estimate of CLP than that of MMDP and faster than SBBP.

An Accurate and Efficient Method of the Spray Paint Simulation for Robot OLP (로봇 Off-Line Programming을 위한 페인트 스프레이 시뮬레이션 방법론 개발)

  • Recently, various attempts are being done to apply off-line programming system to field of paint robot. But most commercial simulation softwares have problems that are slow simulation speed and not support various painting paramenters on simulation. This paper proposes enhanced paint simulation method for off-line programming system. For these, this method used the mathematical model of flux field from a previous research. The flux field has the flux distribution function, which reflects on the feature of paint spray. A previous research derived this flux distribution function for an integral function and calculated paint thickness function for an integral function. But if flux distribution function is defined as an integral function, it is inadequate to use for real-time simulation because a number of calculation is needed for estimation of paint thickness distribution. Therefore, we defined the flux distribution function by numerical method for reducing a mount of calculation for estimation of paint thickness. We derived the equation of paint thickness function analytically for reducing a mount of calculation from the paint distribution function defined by numerical method. In order to prove proposed paint simulation method this paper compares the simulated and measured thickness. From this comparison this paper show that paint thickness distribution is predicted precisely by proposed spray paint simulation process.
