Purpose: This study was conducted to define the concept of stress in siblings of childhood cancer patients. Methods: The hybrid model was used to perform the concept analysis of stress in childhood cancer patients' siblings. Through reviews of 16 studies in the theoretical phase and interviews with 20 siblings in the field phase, the derived results were brought together in the integration phase. Results: The concept of stress in siblings of patients with childhood cancer was found to have 6 attributes and 28 indicators in 3 domains. Personal factors included 2 attributes (fear about childhood cancer and immature coping skills), and family factors had 2 attributes (changes in relationships with family and changes in family environment), social factors had 2 attributes (changes in relationships with friends and in the school experience, and insufficient social support). Conclusion: The stress of siblings of childhood cancer patients was defined as a state of tension associated with personal, family, social factors that can be related to their siblings' childhood cancer. Purpose: Virtual worlds are emerging in health care as an innovative way of helping clients take responsibility for and promote their own care. Yet, the concept of health promotion education in this environment has not been elucidated. Therefore, we undertook a concept analysis to discover the underlying attributes and contextual basis to generate a conceptual understanding of virtual worlds in the context of health promotion education. Methods: Using Rodgers' evolutionary view of concept development, we analyzed literature on virtual worlds that describe their use to discover critical attributes, antecedents, and consequences of this phenomenon. Eleven studies matching inclusion criteria were reviewed. Results: Analysis of the literature highlighted three areas of important domains: user, simulated environment, and education. This concept analysis extends our understanding of a virtual world for health promotion education. Conclusion: This study may help anticipate future trends in the use of virtual worlds in the context of health promotion education, serving as a stepping-stone for further research on this aspect of the study. The next step should focus on the development of an evaluation tool that can measure the factors identified in this analysis to determine their effects on outcomes and environmental interactions.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the concept of LGBT cultural competence in nurses. This study used Walker and Avant's 8 steps of conceptual analysis. The specific steps are: (1) selecting the concept, (2) selecting the purpose of concept analysis, (3) identifying the scope of concept use, (4) identifying the determinant attributes of the concept, (5) presenting model cases, (6) additional cases of the concept (boundary cases, opposite cases, and related cases), (7) identifying antecedents and consequences, and (8) presenting empirical evidence. As a result, five attributes of nurses' LGBT cultural competence were identified in the final 12 articles: cultural experience and cultural acceptance, cultural knowledge, cultural attitude and awareness, and cultural skills. Antecedents included diversification of society, heteronormative healthcare environment, continuing education and training, intercultural understanding, and open-mindedness. Outcomes of cultural competence were identified as reducing LGBT health inequalities and providing quality care. In conclusion, this study contributes to providing a basis for improving the quality of nursing care by providing more culturally appropriate care to the target population through conceptual analysis and understanding of nurses' LGBT cultural competence. Furthermore, it is necessary to continue research on the development of tools to measure nurses' LGBT cultural competence and the development of nursing intervention programmes that can be applied in nursing practice.

Purpose: Concept analysis is an essential part of theory development in nursing. Thus, many strategies or methods of concept analysis have been suggested in nursing literature. However, in Korea, only limited strategies were utilized, without much consideration on a wide range of strategies in choosing a method that coincides with the characteristics of each concept to analyze The purpose of this article was to propose various strategies for concept analysis. Method: A literature review method was used. Result: Ten methods of concept analysis were identified in the literature, and they were evaluated for advantages and limitations, In addition to the method by Walker and Avant and a hybrid model, more advanced strategies, such as triangulation method, critical analysis and the feminist approach were introduced and described in detail. The examples used in each concept analysis method were presented in table to provide the extent of utilization of each method. Conclusion: This article provides a wide range of strategies in identifying, clarifying, or elaborating a concept. It might help in choosing a method that best fits the concept to analyze, thus enhancing quality of concept analysis research.
Purpose: This article was proposed to describe and summarize the following 1) the structural hierarchy of nursing knowledge and 2) the four different methods of concept analysis and concept development, which are used most frequently in nursing literature, and 3) to demonstrate a qualitative data synthesis of situation-specific theories in Korea in order to provide an venue for developing Korean-contextualized nursing theory. Methods: A literature review and a meta-synthesis were used. An interpretive integration method for the meta-synthesis was used to incorporate incorporating the results of ten qualitative studies in Korea. Results: The normative and extended concept of the self was one of the three foremost concepts. The experiences of being detached from a group and of being unlike others were perceived with distress to Korean participants. Lastly, as a coping method, complying with a higher flow or power was used. Conclusion: Based on the three concepts elicited in this article, a substantive theory which withholds Korean nursing concepts and essences is hoped to be developed in future.
Purpose: This study was aimed to clarify the concept of ego-resiliency in the context of nursing and to propose a definition of ego-resiliency. Methods: Rodgers' evolutionary approach to concept analysis was used to identify common attributes, antecedents, and consequences of the term ego-resiliency. A literature search of the RISS, NDSL, NAL, CINAHL, PubMed, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, and Scopus databases from 1980 to 2014 was conducted, using the key words of ego-resiliency, ego-resilience, and ego-resilient. Thirty-four relevant articles and one book were finally selected and throughly reviewed. Results: The results of the concept analysis concluded that ego-resiliency was a individualized, integrated, and coping resource and capacity leading personal adaptive capacity including physical, psychological, social well being in various adversity and challenge of life. Conclusion: The findings of this study warranted nursing research on a development of nursing intervention related with ego-resiliency as a pivotal personal characteristic. By doing so, better understanding of human and health within the context of nursing could be achieved.

Method: A Hybrid Model of concept development was applied to develop a concept of ego-integrity, which included a field study carried out in Seoul, South Korea using in-depth interviews with old adults who were admitted as a right person for research subject according to attributes of ego-integrity analysed in the theoretical phase. Results: The concept of ego-integrity emerged as a complex phenomenon having meanings in several different dimensions which encompassed several attributes. Conclusions: Ego-integrity is a concept having needs that should be treated in a specific way and it is possible to enrich the meaning and methods to manage ego-integrity in nursing interventions for promoting quality of life so that its application may have effects that have positive impacts on the elderly's well being.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to define and clarify the concept of developmental care for preterm infants. Methods: The hybrid model method was used to identify the main attributes and indicators. In the field work stage, data were collected in Seoul and Cheonan, Korea. The participants were 5 nurses working in the NICU. Results: The concept of developmental care was found to have six attributes and ten indicators in 2 dimensions. For the nursing practice dimension, four attributes were derived. They were being like intrauterine state, individualization, interaction, and integrative care with awareness of development. For the family centeredness dimension, supporting parental attachment and professional alliance were attributes of developmental care. Conclusion: Developmental focused care can facilitate the identification of behavioral responses of newborns and provide individualized interventions for fostering growth and development. This concept analysis could provide guidelines for "developmental care" nursing practice and be useful for research in the neonatal field.
