This study was conducted to investigate the effects of workplace bullying and social support on turnover intention of nurses. The data included 133 nurses who worked in general hospitals in Chungchungbukdo. Data were collected from 1 November, 2016 to 25 December using self-report, structured questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed by ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression using SPSS 20.0. The results showed that the effects of workplace bullying and social support on turnover intention averaged 1.46 (out of 4), 3.55 (out of 5) and 3.30 (out of 5). Additionally, there was a significant positive correlation between workplace bullying and turnover intention (r=0.218, p=0.012) and negative correlations between social support and turnover intention (r=-0.363, p<0.001). Multiple regression analysis revealed that the predictors of turnover intension were education (${\beta}=-0.268$, p<0.009), total clinical experience (${\beta}=0.706$, p<0.001), and workplace bullying (${\beta}=0.183$, p<0.036). Based on these results, it is necessary to recognize the importance of workplace bullying and develop and adapt programs to reduce workplace bullying in order to decrease turnover intention among nurses.

This study was to investigate the factors influencing job satisfaction of nurses in long-term care hospitals focusing on burnout and burden. The participants were 206 nurses recruited from long-term care hospitals in B metropolitan city and C city. Data were collected from January to March, 2014 and analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0 program. The frequency of experience was $1.65{\pm}0.42$, which is 4~5 times per month and once or twice per week in the problematic behavior in dementia. The frequency of burden was $1.46{\pm}0.48$, which means one nurse can solve the problematic behaviors in dementia. Burnout was $2.53{\pm}0.61$, and job satisfaction was $2.87{\pm}0.45$. Negative correlations were found between burden and job satisfaction (r=-.256, p=.003), and between burnout and job satisfaction (r=-.718, p<.001). A factor influencing job satisfaction was burnout (${\beta}$=-.735), which explained 57%. It is suggested that Intervention programs should be developed to reduce burnout and burden, and to increase job satisfaction for nurses.

This study analyzed the current situation of medium and small-sized hospital nursing staff and related policies, and identified the factors that affect staffing level to provide evidence for planning and adopting policy. By analyzing the statistical data published by public institutions such as the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, the result was viewed based on the understanding of various internal and external health care environments. The number of active nurses was less than 50% of the number of licensed nurses and has decreased every year. This means that the cost-effectiveness of increases in nursing college enrollment should be reconsidered. Inpatient nursing fees by staffing grades has caused nurses to move from medium and small-sized hospitals, where there is a severe lack of staff, to more advanced general hospitals. As a result, the lack of nursing staff in medium and small-sized hospitals has worsened. In conclusion, reexamination is needed to improve effectiveness of inpatient nursing fees by staffing grades as a policy to secure the workforce of medium and small-sized hospitals. Furthermore, the tracking management system of licensed nurses must be able to solve the imbalance between demand and supply of nursing staff.

This study was undertaken is to improve the working conditions by improving the job satisfaction of clinical research nurses and clinical nurses involved in and conducting clinical trials. The survey was conducted from November 6 to December 6, 2017 for 100 nurses working in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The accumulated data were analyzed by frequency analysis, reliability verification, and t-test using the SPSS program. Our results reveal that job satisfaction was higher for clinical nurses (2.94 ± 0.609 points) as compared to clinical research nurses (2.89 ± 0.620 points). Also, the satisfaction level of salary received was higher amongst the clinical nurses than the clinical research nurses. Furthermore, although career decision was relatively lower for the clinical nurse than the clinical research nurse, the importance of job performance and job stability ranked high. Considering importance of the role of clinical research nurses in clinical trials, it is necessary to enhance their job satisfaction by improving the clinical trial environment such as appropriate treatment and professional role, and the working environment including remuneration, professional status, and administrative work to establish their jobs.

This study was conducted to identify the relationship between knowledge, attitude, and compliance regarding infection preventive behaviors among long-term care hospital staff during a Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) epidemic. The subjects were 211 staff members of a long-term care hospital in J province evaluated using a structured survey. Data were collected between June 15 and July 15, 2015 and analyzed using SPSS/WIN 24.0 based on an independent t-test, ANOVA, and Welch test, while post-hoc tests were conducted using the Scheffe test and the Grames-Hawell test. The MERS knowledge score of the staff at the long-term care hospital was high for nurses and nurse aids, who had experienced infection management when they received influenza vaccine in the previous year and were provided with easy access to hand sanitizers. Attitude towards MERS was more positive for nurses than nurse aids and caregivers. The degree of execution of infection preventive behaviors in terms of daily activity was high when influenza shots were received in the prior year; in terms of caring for patients, it was high when influenza shots were received in the previous year and they had easy access to hand sanitizers. The relationship between knowledge, attitude, and infection preventive behavior regarding MERS was such that high knowledge and positive attitude led to a higher degree of execution of infection preventive behavior. Therefore, during periods of high prevalence of newly infectious diseases such as MERS, it is important for the long-term care hospitals to conduct infection management education including the characteristics of the MERS disease, its transmission, and its prevention to enhance knowledge regarding MERS and induce positive change in attitude to improve the level of infection preventive behaviors.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between nurse's perception of organizational characteristics including safety climate and work environment and barrier to medication error reporting. Methods: We surveyed 334 nurses from 7 hospitals. An assessment survey was consisted of modified safety climate scale, practice environment scale and barrier to medication error reporting. The data were collected from September 2012. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, canonical correlation were used. Results: Organizational characteristics were related to barrier to medication error reporting with three significant canonical variables. The first canonical correlation coefficient was .50(Wilks' ${\lambda}$=0.61, df=32, p<.001), that of the second was .35(Wilks' ${\lambda}$=0.81, df=21, p<.001) and that of the third was .22(Wilks' ${\lambda}$=0.93, df=12, p=.018). The first variate indicated higher perception of safety climate variables and work environment variables were related lower barrier to medication error reporting variables except fear for error reporting. The second variate showed higher perception of 'safety climate between healthcare provider' and higher 'nurse participation in hospital affairs' and 'staffing and resource adequacy' were related to lower 'fear' and 'administrative response' in barrier to medication error reporting variables. Conclusion: Strategies for barrier to medication error reporting and improvement of organizational characteristics including safety climate and work environment should be implemented.

This research is a descriptive correlation research for comprehending the end of life care stresses, work environment, and reduction of nurses in geriatric hospitals and analyzing the factors influencing their burnout. We recruited 195 nurses from 8 geriatric hospitals in B metropolitan city and collected data on the end of life care stress, work environment and reduction using organized questionnaires. The data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 21.0 program. The average grade of end life care stress was $3.84{\pm}0.56$, nursing work environment $3.25{\pm}0.60$, and burnout $2.93{\pm}0.52$. There was a positive correlation between the end of life care stress and reduction(r=.206, p=.004) but a negative correlation between nursing work environment and reduction(r=-.431, p<.001). The most influential factor on the reduction was nursing satisfaction(${\beta}=-.302$), followed by work environment(${\beta}=-.294$), age(${\beta}=.286$), duty style(${\beta}=-.17$), and end of life care stress(${\beta}=.164$). The overall explanatory power was 41.2%.These results suggest that in order to minimize the reduction of nurses in geriatric hospitals, the provision of a supportive work environment which enhances their pride and responsibility as a nurse and offers incentives is required with effective distribution of duties, development of the end of life nursing education and administrative tools for reducing their stress.
