  • In the present study, the diffusion process of hydrogen leaking from a FCV (Fuel Cell Vehicle) in an underground parking lot was analyzed by numerical simulations in order to assess the risk of a leakage accident. The temporal and spatial changes of the hydrogen concentration as well as the flammable region in the parking lot were predicted numerically. The effects of the leakage flow rate and an additional ventilation fan were investigated to evaluate the ventilation performance in the parking lot to relieve the accumulation of the leaked hydrogen gas. The present numerical analysis can provide useful information such as the distribution of the leaked hydrogen concentration for safety of various hydrogen applications.

도로터널 환기/제연 시스템 시뮬레이션 (A NUMERICAL STUDY OF THE VENTILATION AND FIRE SIMULATION IN A ROAD TUNNEL)

  • In the present study, flow characteristics inside a road tunnel are simulated for the ventilation flows due to jet fan system and flows induces by the traffic. Traffic ventilation is numerically simulated by multiple reference frame. From the results of steady state simulation of tunnel ventilation, it is found that the proper ventilation is achieved by the designed jet fan system along with ventilating flow induced by the traffic. A transient simulation is also performed for the case of vehicle fire in the tunnel reversing the direction of rotation of some fans. The results suggest that the heat and smoke can be controlled by the proper changing of fan operation mode. The present results can be used to design proper ventilation system and effective smoke control system as well.

CFD해석에 의한 침실 호흡역의 환기효율 분석 (Analysis on ventilation efficiency by CFD simulation for breathing zone in bed room)

  • Indoor air environment is one of the most important factors that affect resident's health and comfort level. In this paper, the influence of ventilation efficiency with different types of furniture arrangement at breathing zone in a room was analyzed by numerical simulation based on computational fluid dynamics(CFD). The furniture layout of students' bedroom have been classified by three different patterns so that SVE3(scale for ventilation efficiency3) in the rooms was analyzed for air flow distribution. According to the results of the study, SVE3 has the maximum value in spaces between furnitures and each comer of the room. The furniture arrangement influences the ventilation efficiency. It was con finned that ventilation effective in a room is not uniformly distributed as compared the breathing zone with all the area in a room. It means that a study of ventilation efficiency was considered relatively with target zone(a residential or breathing zone) and all the area in a space.

터널 환기용 제트홴의 성능 향상을 위한 수치최적화 (Numerical Optimization for Performance Improvement of a Tunnel Ventilation Jet fan)

  • This paper presents an optimization procedure for performance improvement of a tunnel ventilation jet fan. Optimization techniques based on response surface approximation (RSA) are employed to improve the aerodynamic performance of a tunnel ventilation jet fan. For numerical analysis, three-dimensional Renolds- averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with shear stress transport turbulence model are discretized by using finite volume approximations and solved on hexahedral grids to evaluate the total efficiency at the operating condition as the objective function. Four geometric variables defining the meridional length and the thickness profile at the hub and shroud in the jet fan rotor are selected as design variables for the numerical optimization. The results of the numerical optimization show that the total efficiency of the optimized model is significantly improved in comparison with the base model.

엘리베이터 카 내부 기류분포에 관한 열 유동해석 (Thermal and Fluid Analysis on Air Distribution in a Elevator Car)

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the visualization of the flow field for air flow distributed in the car from the ventilation fan installed in the ceiling of the passenger elevator car through the numerical analysis using computational fluid dynamics. STAR-CCM+, which is a code used for the numerical analysis, was used to predict the airflow distribution inside the elevator car. The numerical analysis of the distribution of the air current in the elevator was carried out. As a result, the analysis results for each point and the visualization of the air current distribution and the temperature distribution in the elevator car and were obtained. It was found that heat transfer was actively occurring inside the car due to the influence of the flow field discharged from the ventilation vent installed in the ceiling in the elevator car, and especially the convection heat transfer of Model-2 was more active than that of Model-1. As a result, the temperature distribution inside the car was found to be relatively low. In addition, the temperature distribution at a cross-section of 1700mm height in the elevator car shows that Model-2 is the location of the ventilation vent which makes people feel more comfortable.

  • An analysis of the heat transfer in a PDP ventilation chamber has been conducted to investigate the required heat curve and temperature uniformity of the panels. Firstly, experiment in a test chamber has been carried out and compared with the unsteady 3D numerical simulation. Reasonable agreement was found, which suggested that the employed numerical model had its credibility in an actual PDP ventilation process. On this ground, tact-type heating/cooling system was analyzed. The panel temperature was more uniform in the $40^{\circ}C$ tact-type system than in the $80^{\circ}C$ one. Comparison of full simulation of a cart and simplified simulation of one panel shows the panel pitch, which is closely related to a production rate, can be also predicted.

  • The objective of this study is to propose basic design guidelines for more effective air ventilation system in apartments. It is well known that ventilation depends on whether the room doors are open or closed as well as people's living patterns. This study considers 84 ㎡-sized apartment which has extended living room without balcony. Ventilation of bathroom and kitchen is not considered. The height of the building, external air pressure and air infiltration through the windows are also neglected. The regulation on indoor air quality made it mandatory that the air change per hour be more than 0.7. Four models are suggested to study the effect of open and closed doors. Models 1 and 3 are open door types and models 2 and 4 are closed door types. The open types have 50 mm hole near the top of the door to substitute exhaust outlet. The ventilation effectiveness was evaluated by 3-dimensional numerical simulation using finite volume method by a commercial software. This work compares air flow, temperature of air, age of air and the efficiency of ventilation of apartments with wooden doors of bedroom 1 and 2, which are open or closed.

  • The objective of this paper was to show the possibility of demand-controlled ventilation (DCV) using the current Korean ventilation standard for multi-purposed facilites. Two attractive DCV approaches; $CO_2$-DCV and RFID-DCV were applied to DCV simulations for a theoretical public assembly space served by a dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) with enthalpy recovery device. A numerical model for predicting realtime occupant number, ventilation rate, and $CO_2$ concentration under given conditions was developed using a commercial equation solver program. It was found that the current ventilation standard causes unstable ventilation system control in DCV applications, especially under $CO_2$-DCV. It is because the ventilation rate (per person) used in Korea is the sum of the outdoor air required to remove or dilute air contaminants generated by both occupant and building itself, and not a pure function of occupant numbers. Finally, it makes DCV control unstable when ventilation flow is regulated only by the number of occupants. In order for solving this problem, current Korean ventilation standard was modified as a form of ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007 showing good applicability to various DCV approaches. It was found that this modification enhances applicability of the current ventilation standard to DCV significantly.

패시브환기외피의 통기성능 및 열관류율에 대한 연구 (A Study on Ventilation and Heat Transfer Coefficient of Passive Ventilation Skin)

  • This paper aims to evaluate performances of ventilation and insulation of 6types PVS(Passive ventilation skin) by numerical simulation. The results are as follows. 1) The result of Performance of ventilation by pressure difference, it was shown that the amount of ventilation changed bigger under 1Pa and amount of ventilation increased according to increase opening area (${\alpha}A$). Although same opening area of PVS, it can predict that pressure differences cause ventilation differences. 2) In case of same opening area of PVS, however, it was changed the amount of ventilation each types of PVS that is distinguished opening area by flow coefficient. 3) Dynamic U-value that represents performance of insulation PVS was similar change upper ${\alpha}A40\;cm^2/m^2$, great change in casse of 0.1 Pa pressure difference. In case of ${\alpha}A10\;cm^2/m^2$, it was changed bigger under 0.3 Pa pressure difference, ${\alpha}A20\;cm^2/m^2$ of PVS was changed under 0.2 Pa pressure difference.

급기-흡기 국소환기시스템의 성능개선에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis on the Improvement of Fume Mixing Ratio in the Push-Pull Local Ventilation System)

  • Numerical analysis has been conducted to investigate the fluid flow and fume mixing ratio characteristics of scattering fume in a push-pull ventilation system and optimally improve the flow patterns of scattering fume in the existing ventilation system. This ventilation system has been simulated by using commercial CFD code. In the case of the existing system, although the air is sprayed from air-curtain to prevent the fume from being scattered in upper hood, the improved air supply hood can remove the fume from the wide area in the high pressure. It is verified that the deeper plating storage is more advantageous. Also, by installing the shied around the plating storage, the scattering of the fume to the atmosphere was prevented effectively by surrounding flux.
