This paper suggests new analysis algorithm for tile dynamic response of three dimensional structure which is frequently found in pipe line system of plant by the combination of the transfer stiffness coefficient method(TSCM) and Newmark method. Presented analysis algorithm for dynamic response can improve the computational accuracy remarkably owing to advantages of tile TSCM in comparison of transfer matrix method(TMM). Analysis system was modeled as a lumped mass system in this mettled. The analysis algorithm for dynamic response was formulated for the three dimensional structure. The validity of the this method is demonstrated through the results of numerical experiment for simple computational model by the TSCM and TMM.

The cross-section warping due to the passage of high-speed trains can be a relevant issue to consider in the dynamic analysis of bridges due to (i) the usual layout of railway systems, resulting in eccentric moving loads; and (ii) the use of cross-sections prone to warping deformations. A thin-walled beam formulation for the dynamic analysis of bridges including the cross section warping is presented in this paper. Towards a numerical implementation of the beam formulation, a finite element with seven degrees of freedom is proposed. In order to easily consider the compatibility between elements, and since the coupling between flexural and torsional effects occurs in non-symmetric cross-sections due to dynamic effects, a single axis is considered for the element. The coupled flexural-torsional free vibration of thin-walled beams is analysed through the presented beam model, comparing the results with analytical solutions presented in the literature. The dynamic analysis due to an eccentric moving load, which results in a coupled flexural-torsional vibration, is considered in the literature by analytical solutions, being therefore of a limited applicability in practice engineering. In this paper, the dynamic response due to an eccentric moving load is obtained from the proposed finite element beam model that includes warping by a modal analysis.
Dynamic L/UL system has many merits, but it can develop an undesirable collision during dynamic loading process. In this paper, the dynamics of negative pressure pico slider during the loading process was investigated by numerical simulation. A simplified L/UL model for the suspension system was presented, and a simulation code was built to analyze the motion of the slider. A slider deigns have been simulated at various disk rotating speeds, skew angles of slider. By selection an optimal RPM and pre-skew angle, we can decrease the amount of collision and smoothen the loading process for a given slider-suspension design.
PURPOSES : In this paper, the flow of construction material was simulated using computational fluid dynamics in a 2D axisymmetric condition to evaluate the effect of initial or varying material properties on the final shape of a specimen. METHODS : The CFD model was verified by using a well-known analytical solution for a given test condition followed by performing a sensitivity analysis to evaluate the effect of material properties on the final shape of material. Varying dynamic viscosity and yield stress were also considered. RESULTS : The CFD model in a 2D axisymmetric condition agreed with the analytical solution for most yield stress conditions. Minor disagreements observed at high yield stress conditions indicate improper application of the pure shear assumption for the given material behavior. It was also observed that the variation of yield stress and dynamic viscosity during curing had a meaningful effect on the final shape of the specimen. CONCLUSIONS : It is concluded that CFD modeling in a 2D axisymmetric condition is good enough to evaluate fluidal characteristics of material. The model is able to consider varying yield stress and viscosity during curing. The 3D CFD-DEM coupled model may be required to consider the interaction of aggregates in fluid.
This research focuses on finite element model updating and damage assessment of structures at element level based on global nondestructive test results. For this purpose, an optimization system is generated to minimize the structural dynamic parameters discrepancies between numerical and experimental models. Objective functions are selected based on the square of Euclidean norm error of vibration frequencies and modal assurance criterion of mode shapes. In order to update the finite element model and detect local damages within the structural members, modern optimization techniques is implemented according to the evolutionary algorithms to meet the global optimized solution. Using a simulated numerical example, application of genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm (PSO) and artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithms are investigated in FE model updating and damage detection problems to consider their accuracy and convergence characteristics. Then, a hybrid multi stage optimization method is presented merging advantages of PSO and ABC methods in finding damage location and extent. The efficiency of the methods have been examined using two simulated numerical examples, a laboratory dynamic test and a high-rise building field ambient vibration test results. The implemented evolutionary updating methods show successful results in accuracy and speed considering the incomplete and noisy experimental measured data.
This study aims to monitor the variation of modal frequencies of steel buildings during their construction sequence. In this respect, construction of a steel building is followed by vibration based measurements. The monitored building is a three-story educational building within a building group whose structural system consists of steel moment resisting steel frames and eccentric braces. Five different acceleration measurements in two perpendicular directions are taken on five different construction stages, starting from the erection of the columns and beams ending with the completion of the construction. The recorded measurements are transferred into frequency domain and the dominant frequencies for each case have been determined. The change in the dominant frequencies is evaluated with the existing construction stages and performed constructional works between the stages. The last measurement, performed on the building in service, revealed the first two dominant frequencies as mutual in X and Y direction, showing that these dynamic modes are torsional modes. This result is investigated by numerical analysis performed with finite element model of the building constructed for design purpose. Lower frequencies and different mode shapes are determined from numerical analysis. The reason of lower frequencies is discussed and the vibration survey is extended to determine the effects of an adjacent building. The results showed that the building is in strong relation with an adjoining building in spite of a designed construction joint.

This paper deals with dynamic characteristics of the experimental magnetic levitation vehicle employing LSM(Linear Synchronous Motor) for propulsion. To predict the dynamic characteristics of the system, the dynamic model which is composed of the electrical elements such as electromagnets and LSM and mechanical components and is developed based on multibody dynamics is developed. The resulting system equations of motion for the model are a coupled one representing all the mechanical and electrical parts. To verify the dynamic model of the system, air gaps are measured in both running tests and simulation, and the frequency characteristics of air gaps are analyzed. From the results, it can be seen that the frequency responses are almost the same. Finally, to evaluate the levitation stability and the designed controller, numerical simulations are carried out.

The vibration amplitude of boring bar is generally large at the tool tip, because it has the high length-diameter(L/D) ratio. A new dynamic cutting force model is presented by considering the change of shear angle under dynamic cutting. The boring bar is modelled as a cantilever with dynamic force acting at the tool end point. Based on this realistic continuous system model, the equation of motion of borring bar is solved by numerical computations. A good agreement is found between the proposed model and the experimental results.

The beam structure models with an impactor or contact parts under impact forces have teen applied to the design of mechanical and electronic accessories. Switches, hard-disk pick-ups and sensors are typical structural examples of the structure to be designed to colliding with other parts of structures. In this paper, in order to examine the relationships between the changes of the stiffness and damping of the impactor and vibrations of the dynamic characteristics of the impact model of a cantilevered beam with an impactor, impact force of the impactor and response characteristics of the cantilevered beam were analyzed by both numerical simulation and experiment. Since the stiffness and damping of the impactor have high nonlinear characteristics, the contact model using revised Herz-model was established by experiments. Also, the results of numerical analyses for dynamic response and impact force of a cantilevered beam with an impactor have a good agreement with experimental results.

The main objective of this work is presenting a mathematical model for the concrete slab with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) layer under the impact load. Impacts are assumed to occur normally over the top slab and the interaction between the impactor and the structure is simulated using a new equivalent three-degree-of-freedom (TDOF) spring-mass-damper (SMD) model. The structure is assumed viscoelastic based on Kelvin-Voigt model. Based on the sinusoidal shear deformation theory (SSDT), energy method and Hamilton's principle, the motion equations are derived. Applying DQM, the dynamic deflection and contact force of the structure is calculated numerically so that the effects of mass, velocity and height of impactor, boundary conditions, FRP layer, structural damping and geometrical parameters of structure are shown on the dynamic deflection and contact force of system. Results show that considering structural damping leads to lower dynamic deflection and contact force. In addition, increasing the impact velocity of impactor yields to increases in the maximum contact force and deflection while the contact duration is decreased. The result shows that the contact force and the central deflection of the structure decreases and the contact time decreases with assuming FRP layer.
