  • In the present study, a new kind of multivariable Reissner-Mindlin plate elements with two kinds of variables based on B-spline wavelet on the interval (BSWI) is constructed to solve the static and vibration problems of a square Reissner-Mindlin plate, a skew Reissner-Mindlin plate, and a Reissner-Mindlin plate on an elastic foundation. Based on generalized variational principle, finite element formulations are derived from generalized potential energy functional. The two-dimensional tensor product BSWI is employed to form the shape functions and construct multivariable BSWI elements. The multivariable wavelet finite element method proposed here can improve the solving accuracy apparently because generalized stress and strain are interpolated separately. In addition, compared with commonly used Daubechies wavelet finite element method, BSWI has explicit expression and a very good approximation property which guarantee the satisfying results. The efficiency of the proposed multivariable Reissner-Mindlin plate elements are verified through some numerical examples in the end.

  • In this study, we consider an assembly line operated under a base-stock policy. A product consists of two parts, and a finished product transfers to a warehouse in which demands are satisfied. Assume that demands arrive according to a Poisson process and processing times at each production line are exponentially distributed. Whenever a demand arrives, it is satisfied immediately from an inventory in the warehouse if available; otherwise, it is backlogged and satisfied later by the next product exiting from production lines. In either case, an arriving demand automatically triggers the production of a part at both production lines. These two parts will be assembled into a product that eventually transfers to the warehouse. We obtain a closed form formula of approximation for delay time or lead time distribution of a demand when a base- stock level is s. Moreover, it can be applied to the optimal base-stock level which minimizes the total inventory cost. Numerical examples are presented to show our optimal base-stock level's quality.

  • Multicarrier code division multiple access(MC-CDMA) Is a scheme that combines multicarrier modulation with CDMA. It offers robustness to frequency selective fading and can support higher rate data transmission with higher spectral efficiency. The objective of this article to proposed a new asynchronous ME-CDMA system to implement multiple data rate communications. It can be accomplished by changing the number of parallel branch(.p). For the analysis of average BER performance, numerical method and computer simulation were used. After MAI power of received signal calculated, the average BER can be acriuired using Gaussian approximation to MAI. We also compare the system performance with that of a single rate MC-CDMA system.

  • The present study numerically investigates the motion of a solid body suspended in the square enclosure with natural convection. A two-dimensional circular cylinder levitated thermally has been simulated by using thermal lattice Boltzmann method(TLBM) with the direct-forcing immersed boundary method. To deal with the ascending, falling or levitation of a circular cylinder in natural convection, the immersed boundary method is expanded and coupled with the TLBM. The circular cylinder is located at the bottom of a square enclosure with no restriction on the motion and freely migrates due to the Boussinesq approximation which is employed for the coupling between the flow and temperature fields. For different density ratio between the cylinder and the fluid, the motion characteristics of the circular cylinder for various Grashof numbers have been carried out. The Prandtl number is fixed as 0.7.

  • The properties of linear time-varying(LTV) systems vary because of the time-varying property of plant parameters. The generalized controller design method for linear time-varying systems does not exit because the analytic soultion of dynamic equation has not been found yet. Hence, to design a controller for LTV systems, the robust control methods for uncertain LTI systems which are the approximation of LTV systems have been generally ised omstead. However, these methods are not sufficient to reflect the fast dynamics of the original time-varying systems such as missiles and supersonic aircraft. In general, both the performance and the robustness of the control system which is designed with these are not satisfactory. In addition, since a better model will give the more robustness to the controlled system, a gain scheduling technique based on LTI controller design methods has been uesd to solve time problem. Therefore, we propose a new gain scheduled QFT method for LTV systems based on neural networks in this paper. The gain scheduled QFT involves gain dcheduling procedured which are the first trial for QFT and are well suited consideration of the properties of the existing QFT method. The proposed method is illustrated by a numerical example.

  • In this paper, an optimal identification method using Multi-FNN(Fuzzy-Neural Network) is proposed for model ins of nonlinear complex system. In order to control of nonlinear process with complexity and uncertainty of data, proposed model use a HCM clustering algorithm which carry out the input-output data preprocessing function and Genetic Algorithm which carry out optimization of model. The proposed Multi-FNN is based on Yamakawa's FNN and it uses simplified inference as fuzzy inference method and Error Back Propagation Algorithm as learning rules. HCM clustering method which carry out the data preprocessing function for system modeling, is utilized to determine the structure of Multi-FNN by means of the divisions of input-output space. Also, the parameters of Multi-FNN model such as apexes of membership function, learning rates and momentum coefficients are adjusted using genetic algorithms. Also, a performance index with a weighting factor is presented to achieve a sound balance between approximation and generalization abilities of the model, To evaluate the performance of the proposed model, we use the time series data for gas furnace and the numerical data of nonlinear function.

  • The methods of robust design optimization (RDO) and reliability-based robust design optimization (RBRDO) were implemented in the present study. RBRDO is an integrated method that accounts for the design robustness of an objective function and for the reliability of constraints. The objective function in RBRDO is expressed in terms of the mean and standard deviation of an original objective function. Thus, a multi-objective formulation is employed. The regressive approximate models are generated via the moving least squares method (MLSM) and constraint-feasible moving least squares method (CF-MLSM), which make it possible to realize the feasibility regardless of the multimodality/nonlinearity of the constraint function during the approximate optimization processes. The regression model based RBRDO is newly devised and its numerical characteristics are explored using the design of an actively controlled ten bar truss structure.

  • In this paper, we propose the fuzzy inference algorithm with multi-layer structure. MFIS(Multi-layer Fuzzy Inference System) uses PNN(Polynomial Neural networks) structure and the fuzzy inference method. The PNN is the extended structure of the GMDH(Group Method of Data Hendling), and uses several types of polynomials such as linear, quadratic and cubic, as well as the biquadratic polynomial used in the GMDH. In the fuzzy inference method, the simplified and regression polynomial inference methods are used. Here, the regression polynomial inference is based on consequence of fuzzy rules with the polynomial equations such as linear, quadratic and cubic equation. Each node of the MFIS is defined as fuzzy rules and its structure is a kind of neuro-fuzzy structure. We use the training and testing data set to obtain a balance between the approximation and the generalization of process model. Several numerical examples are used to evaluate the performance of the our proposed model.

  • This paper focuses on large deflection static behavior of edge cracked simple supported beams subjected to a non-follower transversal point load at the midpoint of the beam by using the total Lagrangian Timoshenko beam element approximation. The cross section of the beam is circular. The cracked beam is modeled as an assembly of two sub-beams connected through a massless elastic rotational spring. It is known that large deflection problems are geometrically nonlinear problems. The considered highly nonlinear problem is solved considering full geometric non-linearity by using incremental displacement-based finite element method in conjunction with Newton-Raphson iteration method. There is no restriction on the magnitudes of deflections and rotations in contradistinction to von-Karman strain displacement relations of the beam. The beams considered in numerical examples are made of Aluminum. In the study, the effects of the location of crack and the depth of the crack on the non-linear static response of the beam are investigated in detail. The relationships between deflections, end rotational angles, end constraint forces, deflection configuration, Cauchy stresses of the edge-cracked beams and load rising are illustrated in detail in nonlinear case. Also, the difference between the geometrically linear and nonlinear analysis of edge-cracked beam is investigated in detail.

  • The dynamic characterization is important in making accurate predictions of the seismic response of the hybrid structures dominated by different damping mechanisms. Different damping characteristics arise from the construction of the tower with different materials: steel for the upper part; reinforced concrete for the lower main part and interaction with supporting soil. The process of modeling damping matrices and experimental verification is challenging because damping cannot be determined via static tests as can mass and stiffness. The assumption of classical damping is not appropriate if the system to be analyzed consists of two or more parts with significantly different levels of damping, such as steel/concrete mixed structure - supporting soil coupled system. The dynamic response of structures is critically determined by the damping mechanisms, and its value is very important for the design and analysis of vibrating structures. An analytical approach capable of evaluating the equivalent modal damping ratio from structural components is desirable for improving seismic design. Two approaches are considered to define and investigate dynamic characteristics of hybrid tower of cable-stayed bridges: The first approach makes use of a simplified approximation of two lumped masses to investigate the structure irregularity effects including damping of different material, mass ratio, frequency ratio on dynamic characteristics and modal damping; the second approach employs a detailed numerical step-by step integration procedure in which the damping matrices of the upper and the lower substructures are modeled with the Rayleigh damping formulation.
