  • The discretization algorithms for continuous data have been actively studied in the area of data mining. These discretizations are very important in data analysis, especially for efficient model selection in data mining. So, in this paper, we introduce the principles of some mutiway discretization algorithms including KEX, 1R and CN4 algorithm and investigate the efficiency of these algorithms through numerical study. For various underlying distribution, we compare these algorithms in view of misclassification rate.

  • In this paper, distances between elements are optimized for low sidelobe level (SLL) microstrip patch array using Genetic Algorithms. Genetic Algorithms are "global" numerical-optimization methods, it's advantages are very simple coding and fast optimization. This paper show how to optimize the maximum SLL using Genetic Algorithms. In the results, although mutual coupling is neglected, it's maximum SLL is 3.5 dB lower than Uniformly Spaced Array(distance=$0.5{\lambda}$).

  • An optimization problem is to select the best of many possible design alternatives in a complex design space. Genetic algorithms, one of the numerous techniques to search optimal solution, have been successfully applied to various problems (for example, parameter tuning in expert systems, structural systems with a mix of continuous, integer and discrete design variables) that could not have been readily solved with more conventional computational technique. But, conventional genetic algorithms are ill defined for two classes of problems, ie., penalty function and fitness scaling. Therefore, this paper develops Improved genetic algorithms(IGA) to solve these problems. As a case study, numerical examples are demonstrated to show the effectiveness of the Improved genetic algorithms.

  • In this study, there are many difficulties in defining and judging creative people because there is no systematic analysis method using accurate standards or numerical values. Analyze and judge whether In the previous study, A study on the application of rule success cases through machine learning algorithm extraction, a case study was conducted to help verify or confirm the psychological personality test and aptitude test. We proposed a solution to a research problem in psychology using machine learning algorithms, Data Mining's Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining, and CRISP-DM, which were used in previous studies. After that, this study proposes a solution that helps to judge creative people by applying the feature selection algorithm. In this study, the accuracy was found by using seven feature selection algorithms, and by selecting the feature group classified by the feature selection algorithms, and the result of deriving the classification result with the highest feature obtained through the support vector machine algorithm was obtained.

  • In this paper, we propose iterative algorithms to obtain the transmit and the receive vectors for interference alignment in cellular network. Although the conventional interference alignment algorithms for interference channels can be applied to cellular network, the number of iterations required to achieve a high sum rate is very large. The key idea in the proposed algorithms is to ignore intra-cell interference in updating the transmit vector for uplink and the receive vector for downlink. Numerical results show that the proposed algorithms achieve higher sum rates than the conventional algorithms for given iteration numbers when multiple antennas and a single carrier are used for interference alignment. It is also shown that the proposed algorithms outperform the conventional algorithms when a single antenna and multiple subcarriers are used for interference alignment.

  • We present a family of elaborate numerical models for simulation and systematic optimization of complex LCDs for demanding applications (e.g. LCD-TV). These numerical models comprise modules for solving LCD-related problems in one, two and three dimensions. The three modules feature an intuitive graphical user surface for a jump-start into modeling, a common database for a range of materials and components as well as sophisticated and proven algorithms with more than 15 years of reliable performance in the LCD-industry. Methods for obtaining data required for the modeling of key components are presented.

  • Unsteady natural convection of an enclosed fluid has been one of the fundamental thermo-fluid problems, of which dynamic relevance is found in many engineering applications. Together with the inherent coupling between the boundary layers and the interior core, and strong interaction between flow and temperature fields, the unsteadiness poses serious hurdles for analytical and experimental approaches. With the recent development of computers and solution algorithms, computational fluid dynamics has become the prevailing tool to tackle the underlying problems. In this presentation, a few examples of numerical studies are introduced. The usefulness and potential of numerical simulations in investigating unsteady natural convection are elaborated.

  • In this paper, numerical algorithms for solving a fuzzy system of linear equations with crisp coefficients are presented. We illustrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed methods by solving some numerical examples. We also provide a graphical representation of the fuzzy solutions in three-dimension as a visual reference of the solution of the fuzzy system.

  • The real-time hybrid testing method(RT-HYTEM) is a structural testing technique in which the numerical integration of the equation of motion for a numerical substructure and the physical testing for an experimental substructure are performed simultaneously in real-time. This study presents the quantitative evaluation of the seismic performance of a building structure installed with an passive and semi-active MR damper by using RT-HYTEM. The building model that was identified from the force-vibration testing results of a real-scaled 5-story building is used as the numerical substructure, and an MR damper corresponding to an experimental substructure is physically tested by using the universal testing machine(UTM). The RT-HYTEM implemented in this study is validated because the real-time hybrid testing results obtained by application of sinusoidal and earthquake excitations and the corresponding analytical results obtained by using the Bouc-Wen model as the control force of the MR damper respect to input currents were in good agreement. Also for preliminary study, some semi-active control algorithms were applied to the MR damper in order to control the structural responses optimally. Comparing between the test results of semi-active control using RT-HYTEM and numerical analysis results show that the RT-HYTEM is more resonable than numerical analysis to evaluate the performance of semi-active control algorithms.
