Numb chin syndrome (NCS)은 드문 신경병증으로 이신경이 지배하는 구강안면 영역의 감각둔화를 특징으로 한다. 이러한 신경병증은 비록 드물지만 악성종양과의 관련성 때문에 임상적으로 중요한 의의를 지닌다. 심지어 이러한 구강안면의 증상이 악성종양의 첫 번째 증상으로 나타나는 경우도 있기 때문에 악성종양의 조기발견을 위해서 치과의사의 특별한 관심이 요구된다. 따라서 특별한 원인 없이 이부의 감각마비를 호소하는 경우에는 진단되지 않은 악성종양의 존재 가능성을 염두에 두어야 하며, 이에 대한 조사가 필요하다. 저자들은 구강안면부에서 갑자기 발생한 찌르는 것 같은 통증과 하악 이부 부위의 감각마비를 주소로 경북대학교병원 구강내과에 내원한 환자가 미만성 큰 B-세포 림프종으로 진단된 사례를 보고하는 바이며, 이를 통해서 NCS 진단의 중요성을 강조하고자 한다.

The purpose of this study was to report the effect of Bogijetong-tang on post-herpetic neuralgia(PHN). The main symptoms were numbness, pain, burning, paresthesia on left dorsum pedis and insomina. We prescribed Bogijetong-tang (BJT) three times a day and performed acupuncture and moxibustion twice a day. We observed the change of symptoms to evaluate the therapeutic effect. The symptoms were evaluated with numerical rating scale(NRS). After the treatment, pain decreased from 8 to 3, burning from 5 to 1, paresthesia from 7 to 5, numbness from 5 to 3 and insomina improved. Above the results, Bogijetongtang is effective in treating post-herpetic neuralgia.

Giant spinal schwannoma of the cauda equine involving many nerve roots is rare, and ossification is usually not observed in the schwannoma. A 21-year-old man presented with a 12-month history of urinary dysfunction and numbness below the buttocks. Plain radiography showed scalloping of the posterior surface of the vertebral bodies from L4 to the sacrum, and magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography revealed a giant cauda equina tumor with dystrophic calcification. The tumor was completely removed, with intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring. Histopathologic examination showed that the tumor was a schwannoma. The patient's postoperative course was uneventful, with urinary function and numbness gradually improving. Although a giant schwannoma accompanied by dystrophic calcification is extremely rare, such a tumor can be removed safely and completely by meticulous dissection and careful neuromonitoring of the cauda equina spinal nerves involved in the tumor.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the patient with radial nerve palsy, who improved by oriental medical treatment. Methods : The patient was managed by Cathami Flos aqua-acupuncture, Dong-Qi acupuncture treatment, Comman acupuncture treatment and Herbal medicine. We took pictures of patient's wrist and checked the power of muscles. And we checked the numbness of thumb that was patient's subjective sensation. Results : After 2 weeks-treatment, the movement and power of wrist was restored to nearly normal range, also the numbness of thumb was removed. Combined oriental medical treatment can treat radial nerve palsy earlier than the other methods. Conclusions : The results suggest that combination of Cathami Flos aqua-acupuncture, Dong-Qi acupuncture treatment, Comman acupuncture treatment and Herbal medicine is good method for treatments of radial nerve palsy. But further studies are required to concretely prove the effectiveness of this method for treating radial nerve palsy.

This is a case report on a deep vein thrombosis(DVT) patient whose pain, numbness, and swelling in the left leg have been decreased with Korean Medicine. The 59 year-old male patient who was diagnosed with DVT and showed the classic symptoms of DVT(pain, numbness and swelling in the left leg). Although he was treated with medication(100mg of aspirin, 20mg of rivaroxaban) for five weeks, his symptoms did not improved. Then, he was gaven Sunkihwalhyul-tang three times a day and Jungsongouhyul pharmacopuncture once a day for two months. Conservative therapy including leg elevation and an elastic stocking was co-administered. During our treatment period, the size of the thrombus in the left external iliac vein was decreased according to sonography compared with the pre-hospital's sonography, and the patient felt his symptoms had improved. This case report suggests Korean Medicine may play a role in improving the deep vein thrombosis symptoms.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of foot orthosis and Korean Medicine therapy including Chuna on symptom that accompany scoliosis by observing one clinical case study. Methods : One patient suffer sole pain and numbness that accompany scoliosis who received outpatient treatment was investigated for the changes in numerical rating scale(NRS), pelvic height and pelvic angle. Pelvic height and angle were checked by using Whole spine X-ray. During outpatient treatment, patient treated by foot orthosis and Korean Medicine therapy including Chuna. Results : After 7 times treatment, NRS showed a remarkable difference, which decreased from 7 to 1. Pelvic height decreased from 11.16mm to 8.58mm and pelvic angle decreased from $5.03^{\circ}$ to $3.16^{\circ}$. They showed a slight difference. Conclusions : Foot orthosis and Korean Medicine therapy including Chuna might be effective in the patient that showed symptoms which is caused by scoliosis.

This study reports the effects of Korean medicine treatments including Chuna manual therapy (CMT) and exercise treatment for a patient suffering with cervical spinal stenosis. We treated patient diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis. The patient was treated with CMT once a day for 26 days. Manual muscle testing (MMT), ratio and degree of numbness, numerical rating scale (NRS) were used as tools for evaluating the patient's progress. MMT was increased from 3+ to 5, ratio and degree of numbness were decreased from grade (Gr.) 9 to Gr. 4, NRS was decreased from 5 to 3. This study suggests that CMT and self-exercise can be considered as effective treatment for cervical spinal stenosis.

Objectives : Wallenberg's syndrome is dorsolateral medullary syndrome. The main symptoms of it are ataxia of gait, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, diplopia, numbness, dysphagia and other major symptoms. By use of Oriental medical treatment, we could improve symptoms on one patient with Wallenberg's syndrome. Methods : We conducted one patient with Wallenberg's syndrome after overwork seen at Dong-Eui University Ulsan Oriental Medical Hospital. We treated symptoms from Wallenberg's syndrome by oriental medical treatment such as herb and acupuncture. Results and Conclusion : We suggest that the oriental medical treatment by differentiation of symptoms make the patient with the Wallenberg's syndrome recovery.

Objects : This study was to report a clinical effect of Chuna Treatment for HIVD-cervical spine Failed Back Surgery Syndrome(FBSS) patient. Methods : In order to alleviate both arm tingling, numbness and neck stiffness, the patient was treated by acupuncture therapy, cervical traction technique of Chuna treatment and conservative managements. To evaluate the effect of the treatment, Recovery rate of Hirabayashi, Verbal Numerical Rating Scale(VNRS) and Neck Disability Index(NDI) score were used. Results : VNRS and NDI were improved and Recovery rate was 100%. Conclusions : Korean Treatment can be effectively used for a patient with HIVD-cervical spine FBSS patient. Further clinical studies are needed to verify the findings.

Intensive lifestyle modifications and anti-obesity medications are essential for obesity treatment. Antiobesity medications should be selected according to the patient's comorbidities, symptoms, and preferences. This case report describes the treatment of a morbidly obese patient with a history of depression, who complained of tingling and numbness after total thyroidectomy for papillary thyroid cancer. Very low-dose controlled-release phentermine/topiramate was prescribed and intensive lifestyle modifications were encouraged. As a result, the patient effectively lost weight and reached a near-normal weight without adverse drug effects. This implies that even an off-label anti-obesity medication low dose may be better for some patients, and the most important factor in obesity treatment is patient-tailored treatment.
