신경심리학적 이론에 근거한 수학학습장애의 유형분류 및 심층진단검사의 개발을 위한 기초연구 (Neuropsychological Approaches to Mathematical Learning Disabilities and Research on the Development of Diagnostic Test)

  • 수학 학습장애는 정상적인 수학적 역량 획득을 저해하는 학습 장애의 한 유형으로, 아동, 청소년의 5- 10% 정도가 겪는 학습 장애의 한 분야이다. 현재 수학학습장애를 진단하기 위하여 기초학력평가나 표준화된 검사가 사용되고 있다. 검사 결과를 토대로 아동의 사전지식을 파악하고, 취약한 영역을 찾는 것 역시 중요하다. 본 연구는 수학학습장애의 유형을 파악하고, 중재의 출발점을 알려줄 수 있는 포괄적인 진단 검사가 포함해야 하는 구성요소를 찾는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 이를 위하여 신경심리학적 이론에 근거하여 수학학습에 영향을 주는 기본적인 인지적 요인들을 찾고, 관련되어 활성화 되는 두뇌 영역과 그들의 세부적 기능을 살펴본다. 또 수학학습장애 아동의 신경심리학적 특징을 살펴 본 다음 수학학습장애의 유형을 분류한다. 그 결과를 바탕으로 교육현장에서 사용될 수 있는 심층 진단 검사의 개발을 위한 기초연구를 수행하고자 한다.

다중 슬림형 감쇠장치의 개발 및 성능 실험 (Development of Multiple Slim Type Damper System and Performance Test)

  • For the vibration control of residential buildings, a multiple type slim damper system is developed and dynamic performance test is performed in this study. In conventional damping systems, larger installation space is required in order to achieve acceptable seismic performance, and as a result, it is difficult to determine efficient damping capacity of the device. The proposed damping device is composed of several small slim type dampers and linkage units. It can control damping capacity easily by changing the number of the small damper. To evaluate the proposed damping device, three slim type dampers (single-type, triple-type and penta-type) are designed and manufactured in real scale. Dynamic loading tests are performed by using the three manufactured dampers. From the tests, it is shown that damping coefficient is proportional to the number of the damper combined. Thus, test results validates the practicality of the proposed slim type dampers. applying nonlinear curve fitting technique, numerical model of the dampers are developed and presented.

5.5MW급 아지무스 추진기(azimuth thruster)에 대한 대형 캐비테이션 터널 모형시험 (Performance Test of 5.5MW Azimuth Thruster Model in LCT(Large Cavitation Tunnel))

  • The development of an azimuth thruster which has the function of dynamic positioning and propulsion has been greatly required as the demand of vehicles with it increases. To develop or design a reliable azimuth thruster, it is appropriate that the performance and cavitation observation tests should be conducted in the regime of high Reynolds number. In the present study, to satisfy high Reynolds number condition new dynamometer for a large azimuth thruster is manufactured and arranged in the test section of the Large Cavitation Tunnel (LCT). The test method composed of the open water and the cavitation observation tests is established successfully in LCT, considering the thruster design.

Comparison of Hydrodynamic Coefficients obtained through Implementation of Diverse Methods in Square Tank

  • To confirm whether the square tank at Changwon National University (CWNU) can be used for estimation of maneuverability, planar motion mechanism (PMM) test and circular motion (CM) test were performed for various conditions. PMM test can be implemented using an XY carriage and a yaw table in the square tank. However, sometimes test section is insufficient for PMM test owing to low length-breadth ratio of the tank. In addition, the speed of a towing carriage is also quite limited. Therefore, it would be useful if PMM test could be effectively performed diagonally, by establishing coupled control logic to drive three servomotors. In addition, Froude number dependency on the estimated hydrodynamic coefficients was checked. Furthermore, CM tests, which cannot be completed in a conventional linear towing tank, were performed, and its results were compared with the results of PMM test. The results of the PMM tests in the diagonal direction were consistent with the results of the test performed in the direction parallel to the sidewall. However, the results of the CM test were greater than those of the PMM test. This tendency was also observed in the results published at Ulsan University.

Damage and fatigue quantification of RC structures

  • Different versions of a damage index (DI) along with a formulation to find the number of cycles at failure due to fatigue, applicable to reinforced concrete (RC) structures are presented. These are based on an energetic analysis method and applicable to both global and local levels. The required data can be found either from the numerical simulation of structures or from the experimental tests. A computer program has been developed to simulate numerically the nonlinear behavior of RC columns under cyclic loading. The proposed DI gives a regular distribution of structural damages up to failure and is validated by the results of the tests carried out on RC columns subjected to cyclic loading. In general, the local and global damage indices give approximately similar results, while each of them has its own advantages. The advantage of the implicit version of DI is that, it allows the comparison of the results with those of the monotonic loading case, while the explicit version makes it possible to estimate the number of loading cycles at failure due to fatigue, and the advantage of the simplified version is that; the monotonic loading data is not needed for the cyclic loading case.

The effects of grooves on wind characteristics of tall cylinder buildings

  • For most full-scale tall buildings the Reynolds number of a flow field around a circular cylinder under strong wind is usually greater than $2{\times}10^7$, which is difficult to achieve in most wind tunnel tests. To explore the wind characteristics of tall cylindrical buildings with equidirectional grooves from subcritical to transcritical flow ($6.6{\times}10^4{\leq}Re{\leq}3.3{\times}10^5$ and $9.9{\times}10^6{\leq}Re{\leq}7.2{\times}10^7$), wind tunnel tests and full-scale large eddy simulations were carried out. The results showed that the rectangular-grooves narrow the wake width due to the downstream movement of the separation point and the deeper grooves cause smaller mean and fluctuating pressure while the peak pressure is little affected. Furthermore, the grooves lead to lower frequency of vortex shedding but the Strouhal number remains at the range from 0.15 to 0.35. The drag coefficient of the cylinders with grooves was found to be 2~3 times as large as that of smooth cylinders.

횡하중을 받는 말뚝의 Beam-Column 해석 (A Beam-Column Analysis of Laterally Loaded Piles)

  • In this study, in order to clarify the effect of the direction of cyclic shear on the post-earthquake settlement the multi-directional shear tests were carried out for Toyoura Japan standard sand, Genkai natural sand and the Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS). In a series of tests, number of strain cycles was changed as n=5-200 and the shear strain amplitude varied from 0.1% to 1.0%. The relative density was also changed as Dr=50, 60 and 70%. From the test results for Toyoura sand and GBFS, it is clarified that the post cyclic settlement is relatively large at the small relative density and becomes large with the shear strain amplitude. When the influence of the direction of cyclic shear is decreases, the post cyclic settlement strain for Toyoura sand is converged to a constant value, but the GBFS is increased with the number of strain cycles.

Prognosis of Pulmonary Function in Patients with Multiple Rib Fractures

  • Purpose: Rib fracture is the most common complication of blunt thoracic trauma. We investigated the effect of rib fracture on pulmonary function in the conservatively treated patients. Methods: From January 2000 to February 2017, we reviewed the records of 72 patients with rib fracture and pulmonary function tests were performed. According to the number of rib fractures, patients were classified into two groups: less than six fractured ribs (group A) and more than six fractured ribs (group B). The groups were compared concerning demographics, underlying diseases, associated thoracic injuries, surgery, mechanical ventilator times, days spent in the intensive care unit and pulmonary function test. Results: There were no statistically significant differences in the demographic data between the two groups. Mean hospitalization was 13.5 days in group A and 27.0 days in group B (p<0.001). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the pulmonary function test. Conclusions: We conclude that pulmonary function is restored by conservative treatment in patients with rib fractures even if the number of rib fractures increases. In patients with multiple rib fractures, studies comparing open rib fixation and conservative treatment of long term pulmonary function are required.

STUDIES ON THE VIRUSES OF RADISH MOSAIC

  • A mosaic diseased radish collected from the suburb of Seoul, in November, 1961 was used for studing the host range, physical properteis, purificaitiion, insect transmission, and electron microscopy. A Japanese strain of radish mosaic(RPV) was also used with Korean strain of radish mosaic (KRMV) for a comparative study. The two viruses, KRMA and RPV, were identified by the difference in host range, insect transmission and electron microscopy. The KRMA was severely infective on tobacco and Nicotiana glutinosa, while on Gomphrena globsa was immune to the virus. RPV produces necrotic local lesions on Gomphrena globosa but did not infect tobacco and N. glutinosa. Among varieties of radish, Seoul, Akamaroo, Akanagea, Koong-Joong showed more severe symptoms than Simoo, Minong, Paek-soo, which appeared to be fainly resistant. In a number of tests, it was found that the virus KRMA retained its infectivity until to a dilution of 1:2,000, heating at $58^{\circ}$ for 10 minutes, adn aging in vitro for 7 days at room temperature. The RPV was not inactivated until it was diluted to 1:2,000, heated to $56^{\circ}$, and aged for 6 days. The KRMV was readily transmitted by the aphid(Myzus persicae Sulz). The virus RPV was not transmitted by the aphid in a number of tests. Partialy purified viruses using ammonium acetate buffer, salting-out by ammonium sulfate and centrifugation of high and low speed were highly infective. Electron micrographs showed that the KRMV paticles are of spherical particles whereas the RPV particles are rod-shaped.
