An Analysis of the Rail Wear Measurements for the Prediction of Particulate Matter Emission in Urban Railway (도시철도 미세먼지 발생량 예측을 위한 레일 마모량 분석)

  • The rail wear measurements in urban underground railway have been analyzed to predict the particulate matter emission caused by rail wear which is one of the major sources of particulate matter emission for underground railway systems. From the rail profile variations measured in the interval of one and half year by dedicated rail wear measuring instrument over the commercial urban underground railway line, 'line-s' which is about 45km long, the characteristics as well as the amount of rail wear have been analyzed after dividing the whole line into about 170 section with radius of curve(R). It has been concluded that the vertical wear parameter V0 and corner wear parameter C0 have been selected to represent the wear amount of straight and curved rail respectively. The amount of rail wear as well as the particulate matter emission by rail wear over the whole line normalized by the rail length as well as the number of train has also been deduced from the relationship between the rail wear parameters and the amount of rail cross-section area.

Transportation Card Based Optimal M-Similar Paths Searching for Estimating Passengers' Route Choice in Seoul Metropolitan Railway Network (수도권 도시철도망 승객이동경로추정을 위한 교통카드기반 최적 M-유사경로 구축방안)

  • The Seoul metropolitan transportation card's high value lies in its recording of total population movements of the public transit system. In case of recorded information on transit by bus, even though route information utilized by each passenger is accurate, the lack of passenger transfer information of the urban railway makes it difficult to estimate correct routes taken by each passenger. Therefore, pinpointing passenger path selection patterns arising in the metropolitan railway network and using this as part of a path movement estimation model is essential. This research seeks to determine that features of passenger movement routes in the urban railway system is comprised of M-similar routes with increasing number of transfer reflected as additional costs. In order to construct the path finding conditions, an M-similar route searching method is proposed, embedded with non additive path cost which appears through inclusion of the stepwise transportation parameter. As well, sensitivity of the M-similar route method based on transportation card records is evaluated and a stochastic trip assignment model using M-similar path finding is constructed. From these, link trip and transfer trip results between lines of the Seoul metropolitan railway are presented.

  • Put Safety-critical systems related to the railway communications are currently undergoing changes. Mechanical and electro-mechanical devices are being replaced by programmable electronics that are often controlled remotely via communication networks. Therefore designers and operators now not only have to contend with component failures and user errors, but also with the possibility that malicious entities are seeking to disrupt the services provided by theirs systems. Recognizing the safety-critical nature of the types of communications required in rail control operations, the communications infrastructure will be required to meet a number of safety requirements such as system faults, user errors and the robustness in the presence of malicious attackers who are willing to take determined action to interfere in the correct operation of a system. This paper discusses the safety strategies employed in the railway communications and proposes a security mechanism for Korean railway communication system. We present the developed communication safety evaluation tool based on the proposed security mechanism and also evaluate its protecting capability against the threats of masquerading, eavesdropping, and unauthorized message manipulation.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the whole-vibration of the subway drivers. Measurement, evaluation and assessment were based on the ISO 2631. When the vibration levels of the drivers are compared with the health guidance caution zones of the ISO 2631, those of the drivers of the rail maintenance train and the number 3 subway line exceed the limit of the health guidance zones, while those of the drivers of other subway lines drivers are below the limit. This indicates that the rail maintenance train drivers are exposed to potential health risks.

  • This paper proposes the connection without cables among display devices in a train using piconet of the Bluetooth. Nowadays, each train has a number of the display devices that are connected with many cables to lead the passengers, so it has the waste of resource and factor of fault. This paper proposes the improvement schemes of those problems in a train using piconet of the bluetooth with low cost, low power, and high security.

  • High speed railroad noise is one of the main causes of environmental impact. An estimate of the relevant noise levels is usually required in order to evaluate the noise barrier and the anti-noise trailer. This paper introduce the test procedure and the estimate for HST noise. The aim of this is to measure, by means of a test, the level of acoustic pressure present during the passing of a KTX(Korea Train Express), in order to satisfy the contractual requirements and the noise criteria. A number of measurements are carried out in order to estimate noise impact by HST along test track.

  • Rail transport has grown over the Past decades, and rail networks have highly concentrated in urban area, and it is possible for rail passengers to choose a route anions a number of alternative routes. Analysis of factors influencing the choice of route, are required to estimate the rail travel demand of each route. In this paper, we describes route choice model for the transit assignment and characteristics of the route choice(i.e., by relative travel time and fares), and attempts to estimate travel demand of new rail transit based on the slated preference(SP) survey data of Nanko Porttown, which is located in Osaka, Japan.

  • In this paper, the crack properties of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFHC) beams by experimental method are discussed. The major role played by the steel fiber occurs in the post-cracking zone, in which the fibers bridge across the cracked matrix. Because of its improved ability to break crack, SFRC has better crack properties than that of reinforced concrete (RC). Crack properties are influenced by longitudinal reinforcement ratio, volume and type of steel fiber, strength of concrete and the stress level. Crack width and crack number in the SFRC beams havebeen evaluated from experimental test data at various levels in the beams.

  • The TGV has been developed in a competition with the domestic air transport. But recently, with congestion, do-regulation of air transport and with the increase of number of cities served by the TGV, operators of rail and air transport are looking for a complementarity between the two modes. In this paper, we'll analyse the background and development of high-speed rail-air links in France for a development plan of high speed transportation network in a national level in Korea.

  • FBG(Fiber Bragg grating)s have shown a great potential for sensing applications, and are easily embedded in materials with a negligible impact on the mechanical properties of the host. However, the use of FBG sensors is limited by their simultaneous dependence on strain and temperature, thus only one parameter can be determined from a single grating. This paper reviews various methods to discriminate between strain and temperature effects. To overcome this cross sensitivity using only embedded optical fibers, a number of techniques have been proposed, most of them relying on the deconvolution of two simultaneous measurements.
