고온 표면에 부착된 증발 액적에 의한 열유속 변화 추정 (The Evaluation of Heat Flux by Evaporating Droplet on the Hot Surface)

  • The objective of the present work is to evaluate the evaporation heat flux of deposited droplet on the hot surface by using of inverse heat transfer technique. On the basis of measured temperature, a integral form solution is determined for the transient temperatures beyond the two positions by using Green's function technique. This method first approximates the temperature data with a half polynomial series of time. we compared this result with constant radius model in single phase regime, nucleate boiling regime, film boiling regime respectively. this paper performed the experiments as following conditions: (a)the surface temperature is within the range between $80^{\circ}C\;and\;160^{\circ}C$ in the conduction, (b) droplet diameter are 2.4 and 3.0mm. (c) surface roughness is $0.18{\mu}m$.

미세 입자로 충전된 캐비티에서의 열 기포 형성 (Formation of Thermal Bubble from Particle-Filled Microcavity)

  • Thermal bubble formation is a fundamental process in nucleate boiling heat transfer and many microelectromechanical thermal systems. One of the established facts is that heterogeneous nucleation is originated from vapors trapped inside cavities. Based on this, we performed an experimental study on the formation of thermal bubbles from microcavity fabricated by microfabrication technology on a copper plate. The cavity was filled with aluminum particles to enhance thermal bubble formation. We observed the thermal bubble behaviors, such as bubble incipience, diameter, frequency and coalescence during nucleate boiling. The experimental data showed that the superheat required to trigger the bubble formation was significantly reduced when the cavity was filled with microparticles. We found that the initial increase of superheat led to the increase of both the departure diameter and frequency while the further increase of superheat caused multiple bubbles to coalesce resulting in the decrease of departure frequency.

수평 전열관내 유동비등하는 순수냉매와 혼합냉매의 열전달 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Heat Transfer Characteristics in Flow Boiling of Pure Refrigerants and Their Mixtures in Horizontal Tube)

  • An experimental study was carried out in a uniformly heated horizontal tube to examine heat transfer characteristics of pure refrigerants, R134a and R123, and their mixtures during flow boiling. The flow pattern was also observed through tubular sight glasses with an internal diameter of 10 mm located at the inlet and outlet of the test section. Tests were run at a pressure of 0.6 MPa and in the heat flux ranges of 5~100 kW/$m^2$, vapor Quality 0~100 percent and mass velocity of 150-600 kg/$m^2$s. The observed flow patterns were compared to the flow pattern map of Kattan et al., which predicted well the present data over the entire range of mass velocity employed in this study. Heat transfer coefficients of the mixture were less than the interpolated values between pure fluids both in the low quality region where the nucleate boiling is dominant and in the high quality region where the convective evaporation is dominant.

탄화수소계 냉매의 풀비등 열전달 상관식 개발 (Development of Pool Boiling Heat Transfer Correlation for Hydrocarbon Refrigerants)

  • In this work, pool boiling heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) of hydrocarbon refrigerants are measured from a horizontal smooth tube of 19.0 mm outside diameter. Tested pure refrigerants are Propylene, Propane, Isobutane, Butane and Dimethylether (DME). The pool temperature was maintained at saturation temperature of $7^{\circ}C$ and heat flux was varied from $10kW/m^2$ to $80kW/m^2$ with an interval of $10kW/m^2$. Wall temperatures were measured directly by thermocouple hole of 0.5 mm out-diameter, 152 mm long and inserting ungrounded sheathed thermocouples from the side of the tube. Tested results show that HTCs of Propane, Propylene are 2.5%, 10.4% higher than those of R22 while those of Butane and Isobutane are 55.2%, 44.3% lower than those of R22 respectively. For pure refrigerants, new correlation can be applied to all of CFCs, HCFCS, HFCs, as well as hydrocarbons was developed. The mean deviation was 4.6%.

수직 벽면에서 과냉 핵비등 시 열유속 분배에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Heat Flux Partitioning in Subcooled Nucleate Boiling on Vertical Wall)

  • 본 연구에서는 비등 열유속 분배 모델의 예측 정확성을 검증하기 위하여 수직평판 자연대류 과냉 비등에서 기화, 급랭, 및 단상대류 열전달 기구에 대한 열유속 분배 특성을 실험적으로 조사하였다. 비등 열유속의 분배를 위해 적외선 열화상 기법과 전반사 가시화 기법을 동기화하여 비등 표면의 열유속 분포와 액상-기상 분포를 동시에 측정하여 분석하는 실험을 수행하였다. 실험은 대기압 조건에서 과냉도 $10^{\circ}C$를 가지는 물을 이용하여 수행하였으며, 벽면과열도 $12^{\circ}C$ 및 평균 열유속 $283kW/m^2$ 조건에 대한 실험 결과를 분석에 활용하였다. 실험을 통해 획득된 열유속 분배 결과는 상관식을 이용한 예측 결과와 큰 차이를 보였으며, 기포이탈직경과 기포이탈 시 주변의 과열액체층이 함께 뜯겨져 나가는 효과를 고려한 기포영향인자가 차이를 만드는 주요 원인들로 파악되었다.

  • The characteristics of boiling heat transfer and critical heat flux (CHF) behavior of nano-fluids were studied by using various sized silver and alumina nanoparticles. The diameter of nanoparticles was from 2 nm to 250 nm for silver and from 20nm to 40nm for alumina. Pool boiling characteristics and CHF enhancement of nano-fluids with different sized nanoparticles were compared with those of pure water and each nano-fluids. The experiment was performed at atmospheric pressure and the temperature of the pool was maintained constantly by using a flat immersed heater. The concentration of nano-fluids was uniform in all experiments as 0.01g/liter. The results showed that the measured boiling curves were shifted to the right. It demonstrated that the occurrence of nucleate boiling regime in nano-fluids retarded, compared with that of pure water. Also, in nano-fluids, the boiling curves showed that CHF of nano-fluids is significantly enhanced and represented the effect of particle size on boiling characteristics.

A Dry-Spot Model for the Prediction of Critical Heat Flux in Water Boiling in Bubbly Flow Regime

  • This paper presents a prediction of critical heat flux (CHF) in bubbly flow regime using dry-spot model proposed recently by authors for pool and flow boiling CHF and existing correlations for forced convective heat transfer coefficient, active site density and bubble departure diameter in nucleate boiling region. Without any empirical constants always present in earlier models, comparisons of the model predictions with experimental data for upward flow of water in vertical, uniformly-heated round tubes are performed and show a good agreement. The parametric trends of CHF have been explored with respect to variations in pressure, tube diameter and length, mass flux and inlet subcooling.

마이크로관 내 증발열전달에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaporative Heat Transfer in Microtubes)

  • The experimental heat transfer coefficients have been measured for two-phase convective boiling in two circular microtubes with inner diameters of $430{\mu}m\;and\;792{\mu}m$. While the heat transfer was greatly affected by the heat flux in the low quality region, the mass flux played a role in the high quality region. The smaller microtube had greater heat transfer coefficients. When the heat flux is varied from $20kW/m^2\;to\;30kW/m^2\;at\;G=240kg/m^2s$, the difference between the average heat transfer coefficients of the test tube $A(D_i=430{\mu}m)$ and the test tube $B(D_i=792{\mu}m)$ changes from $32.5\%\;to\;52.1\%$. At $G=370kg/m2^s$, the difference between the average heat transfer coefficients changes from $47.0\%\;to\;53.8\%$. A new correlation for the evaporative heat transfer coefficients in microtubes was developed by considering the following factors; the laminar flow heat transfer coefficient of liquid-phase flow, the enhancement factor of the convective heat transfer, and the nucleate boiling correction factor. The correlation developed in this study predicts the experimental heat transfer coefficients within an absolute average deviation of $8.4\%$.

  • An experimental study was carried out to make clear heat transfer characteristics in flow boiling of binary mixtures of refrigerants R134a and R123 in a uniformly heated horizontal tube. Experiments were run at a pressure of 0.6 MPa both for pure fluids and mixtures in the ranges of heat flux $10{\sim}50{kW/m}^2$, vapor quality 0~100% and mass flux 150-600 $kg/m^2s$. Heat transfer coefficients of mixtures were reduced compared to the interpolated values between pure fluids both in the low quality region where the nucleate boiling is dominant and in the high quality region where the convective evaporation is dominant. Total pressure drop during two-phase flow boiling in a horizontal tube consists of the sum of two components, that is, the frictional pressure drop and pressure drop due to acceleration. The frictional pressure drop is the most difficult component to predict, and makes the most important contribution to the total pressure drop. On the other hand, the acceleration pressure drop resulting from the variation of the momentum flux caused by phase change is generally small as compared to the frictional pressure drop. There is no significant difference in measured pressure drop between mixtures and pure fluids. The correlation of Martinelli and Nelson predicted most of the present data both for pure and mixed refrigerants within 30%.

강재 열처리용 다점 열유속 측정 기술 개발 (Development of Multi-point Heat Flux Measurement for Steel Quenching)

  • The demand on quantitative measurement of the heat flux is motivated in making higher-quality steel product through a water quenching process of plate mill. To improve a spatial degree of heat flux measurement, the multi-point heat flux measurement was carried out by a unique experimental technique that has a combination of the existing single-point heat flux gauge. The corresponding heat flux can be easily determined by Fourier's law in a conventional way. The multi-point heat flux gauge developed in this study can be applicable to measure the surface heat flux, the surface heat transfer coefficient during a water quenching applications of steelmaking process. The results exhibit different heat transfer regimes; such as single-phase forced convection, nucleate boiling, and film boiling, that are occurred in close proximity on the multi-point heat flux gauge quenched by water impinging jet.
