In this paper. firstly, numerical results were compared with experimental results to verify accuracy of the results. It is found that the numerical results show good agreements with experimental result. Next, computations about flow within blades for design parameters such as radius of the pressure and suction side's curvature and pitch-chord ratio have been performed. It is found that the flow and performance characteristics mainly depend on shocks occurred at the leading edge of blades and the end of nozzle and separations occurred inside the flow passage. And shock of nozzle and separations depend upon area of flow passage and shocks of blade are affected by the number of blades occupied by a nozzle.

The laminar lifted jet flames for methane diluted with helium and nitrogen in co-flow air have been investigated experimentally. Such jet flames could be lifted in both buoyancy-dominated and jet momentum dominated regimes (even at nozzle exit velocities much higher than stoichiometric laminar flame speed) despite the Schmidt number less than unity. Chemiluminescence intensities of $OH^*$ radical (good indicators of heat release rate) and the radius of curvature for tri-brachial flame were measured using an intensified charge coupled device (ICCD) camera and digital video camera at various conditions. It was shown that, an increase in $OH^*$ concentration causes increase of edge flame speed via enhanced chemical reaction in buoyancy dominated regime. In jet momentum dominated regime, an increase in radius of curvature in addition to the increased $OH^*$ concentration stabilizes such lifted flames. Stabilization of such lifted flames is discussed based on the stabilization mechanism.

Experimental study was conducted to clarify the importance of buoyancy effects in laminar lifted flames which have been well understood by cold jet similarity theory. To evaluate buoyancy effects, lifted flame behaviors were systematically observed in methane and propane lifted flames diluted with He as changing the fuel nozzle diameter from 0.1 to 6 mm. Important physical parameters such as fuel strength, flame stretch and flame curvature, which were derived through simple physical scaling laws, were estimated. It is experimentally proven that buoyancy effects are important in relatively large fuel nozzle diameter and large fuel dilution with He. 3-D compressible flow analysis was conducted by using mixing plane method for turbine system which is consisted of partial admission nozzle and rotor. Computational results are shown oblique shock wave in blade leading and trailing edge and also shown flow separation along suction surface of blade due to abrupt blade curvature. But computational results are well agree with 1-D calculation results and experimental data.
Spiral jet is characterized by a wide region of the free vortex flow with a steep axial velocity gradient, while swirl jet is largely governed by the forced vortex flow and has a very low axial velocity at the jet axis. However, detailed generation mechanism of spiral flow components is not well understood, although the spiral jet is extensively applied in a variety of industrial field. In general, it is known that spiral jet is generated by the radial flow injection through an annular slit which is installed at the inlet of convergent nozzle. The objective of the present study is to understand the flow characteristics of the spiral jet, using a computational method. A finite volume scheme is used to solve 3-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations with RNG ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model. The computational results are validated by the previous experimental data. It is found that the spiral jet is generated by coanda effect at the inlet of the convergent nozzle and its fundamental features are dependent the pressure ratio of the radial flow through the annular slit and the coanda wall curvature.
This study is normal orientation technology of slit coating equipment to improve the quality of curved displays. Currently, the demand for curved displays is increasing significantly due to advantages such as screen immersion or design in various industries. Accordingly, changes in the display coating process are essential. In the curved display coating process, unlike the existing flat coating process, the nozzle must be rotated along the curvature of the curved surface to spray the coating solution. The coating solution must be applied while maintaining a uniform thickness. If the thickness of the coating liquid applied to the target surface is non-uniform, the quality of the product may be degraded such as image quality deterioration and light spreading. This paper presents technology and experimental results for keeping the nozzle of slit coating equipment perpendicular to the curved surface and is expected to contribute to the quality improvement of curved displays.

The Laminar lifted methane jet flames diluted with helium and nitrogen in co-flow air have been investigated experimentally. The chemiluminescence intensities of $OH^{\ast}$ and $CH_2O^{\ast}$ radicals and the radius of curvature for tri-brachial flame were measured using an intensified charge coupled device (ICCD) camera, monochromator and digital video camera. The product of $OH^{\ast}$ and $CH_2O^{\ast}$ is used as a excellent proxy of heat release rate. These methane jet flames could be lifted in buoyancy and jet dominated regimes despite the Schmidt number less than unity. Lifted flames were stabilized due to buoyancy induced convection in buoyancy-dominated regime. It was confirmed that increased $OH^{\ast}$ and $CH_2O^{\ast}$ concentration caused an increase of edge flame speed via enhanced chemical reaction in buoyancy dominated regime. In jet momentum dominated regime lifted flames were observed even for nozzle exit velocities much higher than stoichiometric laminar flame speed. An increase in radius of curvature in addition to the increased $OH^{\ast}$ and $CH_2O^{\ast}$ concentration stabilizes such lifted flames.

Flame stability is the one of the main mechanism of laminar lifted flame and flame propagation velocity becomes a yardstick to measure the flame stability. Bilge has presented the flame propagation velocity of the triple flame and the flame stability mechanism related the flame configuration and mixture fraction. However, there was not able to observe all process of flame ignition and extinction for small nozzle diameter. In this paper, we have subdivided the flame configuration and stability mechanism and classified the flame behavior with a nozzle diameter. Also we have subdivided the 'triple flame propagation opened' and the 'triple flame propagation closed' from the triple flame propagation of triple flame criterion.

A turbocharger is an engine supercharger that is driven by exhaust gas. It improves the output and fuel efficiency by increasing the charging efficiency of the mixture gas, which is achieved by changing the rotatory power of the turbine connected to the exhaust passage. It is important to control the supercharging for this purpose. A nozzle slide joint is one of the core parts. Austenitic stainless steel is currently used as the material for this part, and its excellent mechanical properties include high heat resistance and corrosion resistance. However, because of its poor machinability, there are many difficulties in producing products with complicated shapes. Machining is used in the production of nozzle slide joints for high dimensional accuracy after metal powder injection molding. As design variables in this study, we investigated the sintering temperature, product stress, deformation rate, radius of curvature of the punch, and angle of the chamfer punch, which are related to the strain and shapes. The goal is to suggest a forming process using Nitronic 60 that does not require machining to manufacture a nozzle slide joint for a turbocharger. Accordingly, we determined the best process environment using finite-element analysis, the signal-noise ratio, and the Taguchi method for experiment design. The relative density and hydrostatic pressure of the final product were in accordance with the results of the finite element analysis. Therefore, we conclude that the Taguchi method can be applied to the design process of metal powder injection molding.
The near field structure of round turbulent jets with initially asymmetric velocity distribution is investigated experimentally. Experiments were carried out using a constant temperature hot-wire anemometry system to measure streamwise velocity in the jets. The measurements were undertaken across the jet at various streamwise stations in a range starting from the jet exit plane and up to a downstream location of twelve diameters. The experimental results include the distribution of mean and instantaneous velocities, vorticity field, turbulence intensity, and the Reynolds shear stress. The asymmetry of the jet exit plane was obtained by using circular cross-section pipes with a bend at the upstream of the exit. Three pipes were used for this study: A straight pipe, 90 and 160 degree-bended pipes. Therefore, at the upstream of the pipe exit, the secondary flow through the bend and the mean streamwise velocity distribution could be controlled by changing the curvature of pipes.
