A Study on Warning Messages of Child Toy for Product Liability (제조물책임을 대비한 어린이 완구의 경고문안에 대한 설문조사)

  • Recent reports studied that injuries or deaths frequently occurred in consumer product accidents by product defects. Broadly speaking, product liability is liability which is imposed upon a manufacturer or other seller for personal injury, death, property damage and/or commercial loss arising with respect to a product or service provided by it. In this study, we want to search a method of prevention against appling PL laws. The way was researching on the level of appreciation of PL law, warning messages's means and design criteria for seller or consumer of child toys. As a result, most people didn't understand PL laws. Although they read them before purchasing child toy, many consumers didn't differentiate means of "Notice", "Warning", and "Danger" in warning messages. In addition, they considered important factors in warning messages as notice warning, safety mark(UL, etc), age recommendation and color in order. This study will be effective to search a method of prevention against PL laws.

  • 본 논문은 디지털 신호에 포함되어 있는 잡음을 효과적으로 제거하기 위한 프로그램 가능한 디지털 필터를 제안한다. 이러한 필터는 Altera사의 FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)인 cycloneII EP2C70F89618를 이용하여 구현하였다. 데이터 신호에 포함된 잡음 제거 알고리즘을 바탕으로 한 출력 영상 신호 결과로부터 알 수 있듯이 필터 적용 후 출력 영상은 적용 전의 출력 영상에 비해 다양한 잡음에 대해 잡음이 제거된 출력 영상 특성을 보임을 확인하였다.

A Study on asbestos fibers and the notice of inhabitant in the Bu-pyung station (부평역에서의 공기중 석면 노출 실태 및 인식도 조사)

  • Asbestos is composed of long thin fibers approximately diameter $0.02\mu\textrm{m}$ and flexibility, strength, electrical, thermal conditions. The most common asbestos are : Chrysotile(white), Crocidolite(Blue), Amosite(Brown). Asbestos was first introduced in the Korea in 1960 and installation of these products continue through the late 1970's and even the early 1980's. Bu-pyung basement stores in Korea were surveyed from September 25 to October 26, 2001. The purpose of this research was to evaluate worker-exposure to asbestos, comparing to the standards and to research notice of inhabitants about asbestos. Fifteen personal samples and six areas were collected using Gillian Air Sampler. Result of this research were as follows. 1. The most of asbestos exposure concentrations keeps to the criterion(OSHA(Occupational Safety and Health Adminisoation), NIOSH) but forty three percent of the Six samples exceeded the EPA (Environmental protection Agency) of 0.01 fibers/cc. 2. All of places compliced to the standards but there is no "Safe level" of asbestos exposure to the people. Especially people who are expose more frequently over a long time are more at risk.

Evaluation of the Signal Word Cognition using Quantification Methods (수량화 분석을 이용한 신호단어의 인식도 평가)

  • Signal words such as DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION, etc. have been used in order to transmit a potential hazard easily and quickly. But they were applied to a number of the sites without consistency. Thus, this study took Quantification Method and Cluster Analysis in order to judge the signal words corresponding to the urgency of situations, and to analyze whether signal words are used properly or not. According to the result of Quantification Method II signal words were most affected by Understanding, Severity and Likelihood in both student group and industrial worker group. And in Quantification Method III CAUTION corresponded to Immediacy and Understanding whereas NOTICE did to Receptivity, WARNING, DEADLY and DANCER did to Likelihood, Dangerousness and Severity. Finally, Cluster Analysis showed that CAUTION and NOTICE were recognized as similar words.
