The current study aims to investigate the influence of different categories of ownership held by different types of board members on bank performance. The study uses a sample of Saudi listed banks for the period from 2011 to 2018. The results of the panel data analysis using firm fixed-effects regression model indicate that bank performance is significantly and positively affected by the chairman ownership and the CEO ownership. However, board independent members' ownership has a negative influence on bank performance. While non-executive board members' ownership and family board members have an insignificant impact on bank performance. Control variables, including board size, non-executive board members, government ownership, leverage, and bank size are significantly associated with bank performance. Overall, the results indicate that Saudi bank performance is higher in smaller banks that have smaller boards with lower non-executive members, lower portion of shares held by independent board members, higher portion of shares held by the chairman, CEO, and government, and higher leverage. The results of this study provide important implications for regulatory authorities and market participants in Saudi Arabia and countries with ownership concentration to understand the actual role of different categories of board ownership on firm performance in addition to optimize board ownership.

This research aims to highlight the determinants of the intention to purchase Halal foods. In the conceptual framework we examine the different antecedents that might affect the consumer intention to choose the Halal foods. For this, we evocate the role of constructs attitude towards Halal certification, consumption habits and the subjective norm. Moreover, we attempt to study the role mediating role of the religiosity in this purchase decision process of the Muslim consumer. The empirical study will be implemented in the Saudi Halal Foods Market. Thus, we interviewed 200 invidious in the exploratory study to purify the measurements of the selected constructs that may contribute in the explanation of the intention to consume Halal. The confirmatory phase require a second sample that count 400 interviewees. The software of the data analyses that we have used were SPSS and AMOS to purify measurements, to test the research hypotheses and to validate the developed model. At the end of this research we hope to characterize and define the most important determinants' Muslim purchase intention of Halal foods. Therefore, we advance the necessary recommendations to the academicians interesting in this business field and the practices who enquiry to improve theirs offerings and theirs transactions turnover within this emerging consumption sector.
We interpreted the evolutionary history of the southwestern part of the Pohang Basin, the largest Miocene basin in the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula, based on the detailed geological mapping and analysis of the geological structures. The southwestern part of the Pohang Basin can be divided into the Bomun Domain in the west and Ocheon Domain in the east by an NNE-trending horst-in-graben. These two domains have different geometries and deformation histories. The Bomun Domain was rarely deformed after the incipient extension of the basin, whereas the Ocheon Domain is an area where continued and overlapped deformations occurred after the basin fill deposition. Therefore, the Bomun Domain provides critical information on the initial extension mode of the Pohang Basin. The subsidence of the Bomun Domain was led by the zigzag-shaped western border fault that consists of NNE-striking normal and NNW-striking dextral strike-slip fault segments. This border fault is connected to the Yeonil Tectonic Line (YTL), a regional dextral principal displacement zone and the westernmost limit of Miocene crustal deformation in SE Korea. Therefore, it is interpreted that the Pohang Basin was initially extended in WNW-ESE direction as a transtensional fault-termination basin resulting from the movement of NNE-striking normal and/or oblique-slip faults formed as right-stepover in the northern termination of the YTL activated since approximately 17-16.5 Ma. As a result, an NNE-trending asymmetric graben or half-graben exhibiting an westward deepening of basin depth was formed in the Bomun Domain. Afterward, crustal extension and deformation were migrated to the east, including the Ocheon Domain.

Interference-aware routing protocol design for underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) is one of the key strategies in reducing packet loss in the highly hostile underwater environment. The reduced interference causes efficient utilization of the limited battery power of the sensor nodes that, in consequence, prolongs the entire network lifetime. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient interference-aware routing (EEIAR) protocol for UWSNs. A sender node selects the best relay node in its neighborhood with the lowest depth and the least number of neighbors. Combination of the two routing metrics ensures that data packets are forwarded along the least interference paths to reach the final destination. The proposed work is unique in that it does not require the full dimensional localization information of sensor nodes and the network total depth is segmented to identify source, relay and neighbor nodes. Simulation results reveal better performance of the scheme than the counterparts DBR and EEDBR techniques in terms of energy efficiency, packet delivery ratio and end-to-end delay.
Opisthorchis viverrini is still a serious problem in Northeastern and Northern Thailand. Active surveillance is required to determine updated data for further prevention and control planning. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the prevalence and risk factors for O. viverrini in three provinces, Northeastern Thailand. A cross-sectional survey was conducted during October 2015 to March 2016 at Kaeng Sanam Nang district of Nakhon Ratchasima province, Waeng Noi district of Khon Kaen province, and Khon Sawan district of Chaiyaphum province, Thailand. Stool samples were examined by using a modified Kato-Katz Thick smear technique. From a total of 978 participants screened, O. viverrini infection was found in 1.74%, the majority opf positive cases being male (6.62%), age group 51-60 years old (4.21%), educated at primary school (8.43%), occupied with agriculture (9.62%),having an income <4,000 baht per month (4.82%), and living in Khon Sawan district (8.43%). Participants had a high knowledge level (42.43%), good attitude level (34.76%), and fair level (38.04%). The present study indicates the O. viverrini infection rate is low, but elderly males with primary school education involved in agriculture are still frequently effected particularly in Khon Sawan district. Therefore, this risk group requires behavior modification and continued monitoring.

The 2015 version of the bibliographic checklist of Korean spiders from the first checklist by Paik and Kim (1956) is presented, together with a complete bibliography of relevant Korean araneological literature. A total of 620 publications during 1907-2015 including original description on the Korean spiders and records of taxonomic description were critically reviewed. Records only from locations within the present borders of South Korea are listed. A total of 748 spider species of 271 genera belonging to 46 families are confirmed to exist in Korea. Twenty one species, whose distribution or existence within the Korean border are uncertain and lacked valid records, are excluded from the present list pending critical validation. Four spider species endemic to North Korean are listed separately from the present list. One genus, Joopilia Chae and Sohn, 2013 and 2 species, Joopilia jooplis Chae and Sohn, 2013 and Dolomedes jirisanensis Kim and Chae, 2012, which had no designated type species and no diagnosis, are cited as nomina nuda. New synonyms of 15 previously described spider species are proposed. Based on their zoogeographical distribution, the Korean spider fauna was found to be influenced by the northern species, including 36 Holarctic and 72 Palearctic species (14.5% of the total species). Korean endemic species include 160 species (21.5% of the total species). Korean indigenous spiders are also distributed in neighboring countries: 318 species in Russia (42.7%), 460 in China (61.7%), and 488 in Japan (65.5%).
Precipitation and no-precipitation events under the influence of the Siberian high pressure system in Yeondong region, were analysed and classified as four types [obvious precipitation event (OP) type, obvious no-precipitation event (ON) type, ambiguous precipitation event (AP) type and ambiguous no-precipitation event (AN) type], according to the easiness in determining whether to have precipitation or not in Yeongdong region, to help in improving the forecast skill. Concerning the synoptic pressure pattern, for OP type, the ridge of Siberian high extends from Lake Baikal toward Northeast China, and there is a northerly wind upstream of the northern mountain complex (located near the Korean-Chinese border). On the other hand, for ON type, the ridge of Siberian high extends southeastward from Lake Baikal, and there is a westerly wind upstream of the northern mountain complex. The pressure pattern of AP type was similar to the OP type and that of AN type was also similar to ON type. Thus it was difficult to differentiate AP type and OP type and AN type and ON type based on the synoptic pressure pattern only. The four types were determined by U (wind speed normal to the Taebaek mountains) and Froude number (FN). That is, for OP type, average FN and U at Yeongdong coast are ~2.0 and ${\sim}6m\;s^{-1}$, and those at Yeongseo region are 0.0 and $0.1m\;s^{-1}$, respectively. On the contrary, for ON type, average FN and U at Yeongdong coast are 0.0 and $0.2m\;s^{-1}$, and those at Yeongseo region are ~1.0 and ${\sim}4m\;s^{-1}$, respectively. For AP type, average FN and U at Yeongdong coast are ~1.0 and ${\sim}4m\;s^{-1}$, and those at Yeongseo region are 0.0 and $0.2m\;s^{-1}$, whereas for AN type, average FN and U at Yeongdong coast are 0.1 and $0.6m\;s^{-1}$ and those at Yeongseo region are ~1.0 and ${\sim}3m\;s^{-1}$, respectively. Based on the result, a schematic diagram for each type was suggested.

In a situation where population decline is intensifying, the decline of local mid-small sized cities is emerging as a social problem. The decline will increase the difficulty of supplying demand-based living services. Therefore, increasing accessibility to living services is important for quality of life. With this background, the purpose of this study is to derive living zones that can use high-order services in metropolitan cities through high-speed railway. To this end, the behaviors of residents in mid-small sized cities were investigated through a questionnaire, and living zones and vulnerable areas were derived through a GIS analysis. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, most of the residents had experience using cultural, medical, shopping, and educational services in metropolitan cities. Second, the time required to visit a metropolitan city for the use of higher-order services was about 2 hours, and the desired time was about 50 minutes. Third, when accessibility is improved, the willingness to use the higher-order service of the metropolitan city is high. Fourth, many regions have been derived as living zones where services of metropolitan cities can be used through high-speed rail. Lastly, the major vulnerable areas were found to be the northern area of the Gangwon region, the northern area of the Yeongnam region, the west coast of Chungnam, and the border area of Jeonnam and Gyeongnam.
The hydrocarbon source rock potential of the Eocene units in the southern Oregon Coast Range was evaluated by using the Rock-Eval pyrolysis. Most Eocene units in southern Oregon Coast Range are thermally immature and contain lean, gas-prone Type III kerogen. However, some beds(coals) are sufficiently organic-rich to be sources of biogenic and thermogenic methane discovered in numerous seeps. The overall hydrocarbon source rock potential of the southern Oregon Coast Range is moderately low. Several requirements for commercial accumulations of hydrocarbon, however, probably exist locally within and adjacent areas. Three speculative petroleum systems are identified. The first includes the southern part of the Oregon Coast Range near the border with the Mesozoic Klamath Mountains and is related to a proposed subduction zone maturation mechanism along thrust faults. The second is centered in the northern part of the range and may be associated with basin-centered gas in an over-pressured zone. The third occurs near the eastern border of the range where maturation is related heating by sills and migration of hydrothermal fluids associated with mid-Tertiary volcanism in the Western cascade arc.
