A study on the integerized implementation of PCA Recognition Algorithm (PCA 인식 알고리즘의 정수화 구현에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes an integerized approach to solve PCA(Principal Component Analysis) feature extract procedure mainly used for the face recognition. A simple conversion to integer values has the risk to reduce the precision compared to that of the floating points operations. We integerize the PC variables by normalizing with the maximum of them, and show the efficiency of the proposed scheme by comparing the results to those of the float/double precisions. The integerized scheme is expected to be an efficient way for the real-time implementation of PCA's recognition stage, because integer operator is more desirable than floating point ones. Further research is to find a way to implement face detection and to measure the distances from the stored PCs for the full real-time face recognition.

  • Using neural network approach, the diagnosis of faults in industrial process that requires observing multiple data simultaneously are studied. Two-stage diagnosis is proposed to analyze system faults. By using neural network, the first stage detects the dynamic trend of each normalized date patterns by comparing a proposed pattern. Instead of using neural network, the difference between stored fault pattern and real time data is used for fault diagnosis in the second stage. This method reduces the amount of calculation and saves storing space. Also, we dealt with unknown faults by normalizing the data and calculating the difference between the value of steady state and the data in case of fault. A model of tank reactor is given to verify that the proposed method is useful and effective to noise.

Effect of Cumambrin A Treatment on Blood Pressure in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats (고혈압 흰쥐에서 Cumambrin A의 혈압 강하 효과)

  • We have isolated a sesquiterpene lactone, cumambrin A from the dried flowers of Chrysanthemum boreale Makino and reported its chemical structure. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the exogenous administration of cumambrin A has a pharmacological effect on normalization of blood pressure in the spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). In vitro studies: Relaxative response induced by cumainbrin A was increased with dose-dependent manner and showed maximizing response at a concentration of $5{\times}10^{-4}M$. Further, this relaxative response was significantly increased at a condition of endothelium present than that of endothelium denuded. In vivo studies: The normalizing effect of cumambrin A on blood pressure was also increased with time-dependent manner and then gradually recovered to normal condition at approximately 4 hrs after cumambrin A treatment.

  • This paper deals with the robustness of a direct adaptive pole-placement control algorithm for continuous time plants with unmodeled dynamics. In this paper, least squares method is used for controller parameter adaptation and covariance matrix update equation is modified by normalizing signal to guarantee the boundedness of all signals in the closed loop system. In the proposed algorithm, no a priori knowledge is required and it is shown that persistence of excitation condition is required to ensure the stability of the closed loop system.

  • The vibration behavior of fuel rods has been analyzed by FEM in consideration of axial force and support spring constants. The axial compression force on the fuel rod in reactor decreases with the fuel rod burnup, and its decrease makes the natural frequencies of fuel rod considerably increase. The change of support spring constant can contribute to the remarkable change of the mode shapes, but not greatly to the natural frequencies. The reaction forces of support springs are obtained from normalizing the lst mode with the max. 0.2 mm displacement. The calculated reaction forces are larger than the previous results obtained by disregarding the deflections of the support springs.

  • In this paper we propose the new binary image matching algorithm called the Fuzzy logic induced Hausdorff Distance(FHD) for finding the maximally matched image with the query image. The membership histogram is obtained by normalizing the cardinality of the subset with the corresponding radius after obtaining the distribution of the minimum distance computed by the Hausdroff distance between two binary images. in the proposed algorithm, The fuzzy influence method Center of Gravity(COG) is applied to calculate the best matching candidate in the membership function described above. The proposed algorithm shows the excellent results for the face image recognition when the noise is added to the query image as well as for the character recognition.

  • In this Paper, we examine the limiting distributional behaviour of extreme values of mixed Erlang random variables. We show that, in the finite mixture of Erlang distributions, the component distribution with an asymptotically dominant tail has a critical effect on the asymptotic extreme behavior of the mixture distribution and it converges to the Gumbel extreme-value distribution. Normalizing constants are also established. We apply this result to characterize the asymptotic distribution of maxima of sojourn times in M/M/s queuing system. We also show that Erlang mixtures with continuous mixing may converge to the Gumbel or Type II extreme-value distribution depending on their mixing distributions, considering two special cases of uniform mixing and exponential mixing.

  • With the purpose of labour reduction in tea plucking operation with portable type machine, the influence of frame angles and tea leaves weight on the grasping forces of each finger were investigated. At the measurement of the grasping force of each finger except for thumb, grip strength dynamometers were attached at the grasping position of the frame instead of handle grips. A series of measurement was carried out changing frame angles of the tea plucking machine and the weight of tea leaves. With the obtained results of the experiments , the influences of the frame angles and the weight of the tea leaves on the grasping forces of each finger were analyzed. Some reasonable suggestions for the labour reduction in the tea plucking operation with portable type machine were obtained in the aspect of normalizing the balance of the grasping force on each finger and these suggestions are expected to contribute the labour reduction of the tea plucking operation.

  • Neuro feedback training using ElectroEncephalo Grams (EEGs) is commonly utilized in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Recently, BCI (Brain-computer Interface) contents have developed, not for the purpose of treatment, but for concentration improvement or brain relaxation training. However, as each user has different wave forms, it is hard to develop contents controlled by such different wave. Therefore, an EEG process that allows the ability to transform the variety of wave forms into one standard signal and use it without taking a user's characteristic of EEG into account, is required. In this paper, a framework that can reduce users' characteristics by normalizing and converting measured EEGs is proposed for contents. This framework also contains the process that controls different brainwave measuring devices. In experiment a handling process applying the proposed framework to the developed BCI contents is introduced.

  • 음질 평가에는 주관적 음질 평가법과 객관적 음질 평가법이 있는데, 주관적 음질 평가법은 사람이 직접 듣고 평가하므로 실제 체감 음질을 나타낸다. 그러나 많은 사람들에 의하여 직접 평가되므로 비용과 시간이 많이 소모되는 단점이 있다. 객관적 음질 평가법은 수학적인 계산에 의하여 원음과 왜곡음의 유사성을 비교하는 것으로 빠르고 비용이 적게 되나 실제 체감 음질과는 거리과 있다. 본 논문에서는 객관적 음질 평가 척도로 BCF(Bark Coherence Function)을 제안한다. BCF는 심리 음향 영역에서 코히어런스 함수를 정의한 것으로 기존의 객관적 음질 평가법에 비하여 주관적 음질과 상관관계가 높고 계산량이 적다. CDMA 이동 전화 시스템의 음성 데이터와 회기분석 결과, BCF가 ITU-T 표준안의 PSQM(Perceptual Speech Quality Measure)와 MNB(Measuring Normalizing Block)에 비하여 높은 상관관계를 갖음을 입증하였다.
