  • The purpose of this study is to develop the reliability-based dynamic load model for bridges. Analytial procedure to calculate the dynamic load is developed. Truck traffic is simulated using Monte Carlo method. Static and dynamic loads(deflections) are plotted on the normal probability paper to estimate the mean maximum dynamic load in bridge lifetime. The results may be served as a basis for new LRFD bridge design code.

  • Feedback herding strategy in stock market means considering other investor's strategy as a basis of market forecasting of next term. Generally, individual investors use that strategy which mimics the strategy of institutional investors. When it is used in stock market, both kind of investors, preceders and followers, can take the higher average of rate of return to normal market in which no feedback herding strategy is not use, the more investors take part in. And variance of return, the risk of investment, are same to both group.

  • For estimating parameters of possibly nonlinear and/or non-stationary seasonal autoregressive(AR) processes, we introduce a new instrumental variable method which use the direction vector of the regressors in the same period as an instrument. On the basis of the new estimator, we propose new seasonal random walk tests whose limiting null distributions are standard normal regardless of the period of seasonality and types of mean adjustments. Monte-Carlo simulation shows that he powers of he proposed tests are better than those of the tests based on ordinary least squares estimator(OLSE).

  • Let R be a commutative ring. In this paper, the w-projective Basis Lemma for w-projective modules is given. Then it is shown that for a domain, nonzero w-projective ideals and nonzero w-invertible ideals coincide. As an application, it is proved that R is a Krull domain if and only if every submodule of finitely generated projective modules is w-projective.

  • This paper presents an off-line P.I.D parameter estimation method during normal operation in power plant. The process parameters are estimated using the recursive least square method. The controller parameters are estimated on the basis of desired characteristics of the dynamic model of the closed-loop control.

  • This paper focuses on the premature failure of RC beams bonded with FRP. A number of failure modes for RC beams bonded with FRP have been observed in numerous experimental studies during past decade. Particularly, Rip-off failure and Debonding failure were majority failure modes in RC beams bonded with FRP. Rip-off failure occurred at the plate end due to high interfacial shear and normal stresses however Debonding failure was caused by the yielding of reinforcing bar and the increasing of shear deformation in shear span. On the basis of premature failure mechanism in RC beams bonded with FRP, Basic strengthening length and Premature failure criteria were derived

  • $\bullet$ Rehabilitation should be based on an understanding pathology and abnormal arthrokinematics and biomechanics. $\bullet$ Rehabilitation should be kept in mind to play a vital role in the successful outcome after shoulder injuries or surgeries. $\bullet$ Program should emphasize treating the cause and not just the symptoms. $\bullet$ Maintenance of the normal scapulohumeral and scapulothoracic rhythm and optimal strength should be re-established with rehabilitation. $\bullet$ Program modification and appropriate progression must be peformed on an individual basis.

  • Accelerated life test is a viable method for identifying failure modes, incorporating design changes on an on-going basis during the early stages of automotive development program. The information from tests at high stress levels is extrapolated to obtain estimate of life at normal stress levels. This paper presents a practical method for accelerated life test to achieve a specified accuracy in estimating life at a design stress. Recommended and optimum plan are presented and the plans are illustrated with a simulated test data for the automotive power element example.

  • One of recent advances of mammalian fertilization is the understanding of the molecular basis of fertilization. Several proteins localized in sperm nucleus or on sperm surface are necessary for the fertilization process. Protamines, sperm nuclear proteins, are required for normal sperm function that leads to fertilization. Fertilin and cyritestin are sperm surface proteins and essential for sperm-egg binding. Fertilin is also required for sperm transport in the female reproductive tracts. Metalloproteses on sperm plasma membrane are found to play a role in sperm-egg fusion. The functional analysis of these proteins provides a new insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying mammalian fertilization and male fertility.

  • Polymer-Impregnated Concrete(PIC) is a new polymer-concrete composite material which consist of basic cement concrete and polymer. The mechanical properties and behavior of PIC depend on the type of polymers and the impregnation techniques. In general, the polymer impregnation can improve the strength, durability and ductility of normal concrete. The objective of this study is to develop the analytical procedure for analyzing the structural responces of polymer-impregnated concrete beams with different polymer loading by using finite element method on the basis of experimental results.
