  • An improved nonlinear speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is presented A quasi-linearized and decoupled model including the influence of parameter variations and speed measurement error on the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is derived Using this model, to overcome the drawbacks of conventional nonlinear control scheme, the improved nonlinear control scheme which employs time delay control (TDC) scheme is proposed. To show the validity of the proposed control scheme, simulation studies are carried out and compared with the conventional control scheme.

  • An improved nonlinear speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) is presented.   • A nonlinear engine torque and speed control algorithm using throttle angle control is developed with an engine load torque estimation algorithm. Three 3-dimensional nonlinear engine maps as a part of the nonlinear control algorithm are obtained from steady state engine dynamometer tests. An electric throttle actuator is developed using a stepper motor and a 8 bit micro-processor. The speed control and external load estimation algorithm are tested via engine speed control experiments, and show performance good enough for using various engine torque and speed control applications.

  • In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy control system is proposed for the speed control of the ASV (Autonomous Surface Vehicle) with nonaffine nonlinear system dynamics. We consider the turning speed of the screw propeller to be the control input instead of thrust so that we do not have to know the exact function between turning speed and thrust. But in this case, the ASV becomes a nonaffine nonlinear system because thrust is a nonlinear function of the turning speed. To solve this problem, we propose a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy-model-based control system and simulation studies are performed. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

  • Aerodynamic torque of wind turbine has nonlinear properties. Nonlinearity of aerodynamic torque is very important in wind turbine in the aspect of control. The traditional torque control method using optimal mode gain has been applied in many wind turbines but its response is slower as wind turbine size is larger. In this paper, a torque control method using a nonlinear parameter of rotor speed among nonlinear properties of aerodynamic torque. Simulink model is implemented to obtain the nonlinear parameter of rotor speed and numerical simulations for a 2MW wind turbine are carried out and simulation results for the traditional and proposed torque control methods are compared.

  • A DSP-based robust nonlinear speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) which is robust to unknown parameter variations and speed measurement error is presented. The model reference adaptive system(MRAS) based adaptation mechanisms for the estimation of slowly varying parameters are derived using the Lyapunov stability theory. For the disturbances or quickly varying parameters. a quasi-linearized and decoupled model including the influence of parameter variations and speed measurement error on the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is derived. Based on this model, a boundary layer integral sliding mode controller to improve the robustness and performance of the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is designed and compared with the conventional controller. To show the validity of the proposed control scheme, simulations and experimental works are carried out and compared with the conventional control scheme.

For the disturbances or quickly varying parameters, a quasilinearized and decoupled model which includes the influence of parameter variations and speed measurement error on the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is derived. Based on this model, a boundary layer integral sliding mode controller to improve the robustness and performance of the nonlinear speed control of a PMSM is designed and compared with the conventional controller which employs Proportional plus Derivative(PD) control. To show the validity of the proposed scheme, simulations and DSP-based experimental works are carried out and compared with the conventional control scheme.

  • In this paper, the fuzzy approximator and nonlinear inversion control scheme are considered. An adaptive nonlinear control is proposed based on the speed gradient algorithms proposed by Fradkov. This proposed control scheme is that three types of adaptive law is utilized to approximate the unknown function f by fuzzy logic system in designing the nonlinear inversion controller for the nonlinear system. In order to reduce the approximation errors, the differences of nonlinear function and fuzzy approximator, another three types of adaptive law is also introduced and the stability of proposed control scheme are proven with SG algorithm.
