A propulsion controller for one-time flight vehicles should be designed robustly so that it can complete its missions even in case sensor failures. These vehicles improve their fault tolerance by back-up sensors prepared for the failure of major sensors, which raises the total cost. This paper presents the NARX model which substitutes vehicles' velocity sensors, and detects failure of sensor signals by using model based fault detection. The designed NARX model and fault detection algorithm were optimized and installed in TI's TMS320F2812 so that they were linked to HILS instruments in real-time. The designed propulsion controller made the vehicle to have better fault tolerance with fewer sensors and to complete its missions under a lot of complicated failure situations. The controller's applicability was finally confirmed by tests under the HILS environment.

This paper is presented to perform linear dynamic analysis of bridges due to vehicle moving on bridges. The road surface roughness and bridge/vehicle interaction are also considered. The bridge and vehicle are modeled as 3-D bridge and vehicle model, respectively. The road surface roughness of the roadway and bridge decks are generated from power spectral density(PSD) function for good road. The PSD function proposed by C.J. Dodds and J.D. Robson is used to describe the road surface roughness for good road condition. The vehicles are modeled as two nonlinear vehicle model with 7-D.O.F of truck and 12-D.O.F of tractor-trailer and the equations of motion of the vehicles are derived using Lagrange's equation. The main girder and concrete deck are modeled as beam and shell element, respectively and rigid link is used between main girder and concrete deck. The equations of motion of the vehicles are solved by Newmark ${\beta}$ method and the equations of the motion of the bridges are solved by mode-superposition procedures. The validity of the proposed procedure is demonstrated by comparing the results with the experimental data reported by the AASHO Road Test. The comparison shows that the agreement between experiment and theory is quite satisfactory.
In this study, hydrodynamic coefficients were obtained from a Rotating Arm (RA) test, which is one of the captive model tests used to provide accurate coefficients in the control motion equation of an underwater vehicle. The RA test was carried out at the RA facility of ADD (Agency for Defense Development), and the forces and moments acting on the underwater vehicle were measured using a six-axis waterproof gage. A multiple regression analysis was used in the analysis of the measured data. The experimental results were also verified by comparison with the theoretical values of the previous linear coefficients. In addition, the stability indices in the horizontal plane were calculated using the linear and nonlinear coefficients, and the dynamic stability of the underwater vehicle was estimated to have a good dynamic performance with a depth ratio of 6.0.

This paper describes the hydrodynamic characteristics of a test-bed AUV SNUUV-I constructed at Seoul National University. The main purpose of the AUV is to carry out fundamental control and hydrodynamic experiments. Its configuration is basically a long cylinder of 1.35m in length and 0.25m in diameter with delta-type wings near its rear end. On the edge of each wing, a thruster of 1/4HP is mounted, which is used for both drive and turn the vehicle for horizontal movement as the output control power is varied. A pair of control surfaces installed near its font part generates pitch moments for vertical movement. The 6 DOF mathematical model of SNUUV-I contains hydrodynamic forces and moments expressed in terms of a set of hydrodynamic coefficients. These coefficients can be classified into linear damping coefficients, linear inertial coefficients and nonlinear damping coefficients. It is important to estimate the exact value of these coefficients to control the vehicle precisely. Among these, the linear coefficients are known to affect the motion of the vehicle dominantly. The linear damping coefficients are estimated by using Extended Kalman Filter. The responses of the vehicle to input signals are used to estimate the hydrodynamic coefficients, which can be inferred from output signals measured from an IMU (inertial motion unit) sensor, while the linear inertial coefficients are calculated by a potential code. By using these coefficients estimated as described above, a simulation program is constructed using Matlab.
The impact behavior of a multigirder concrete bridge under single and multiple moving vehicles is studied based on correlated road surface characteristics. The bridge structure is modeled as grillage beam system. A 3D nonlinear vehicle model with eleven degrees of freedom is utilized according to the HS20-44 truck design loading in the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) specifications. A triangle correlation model is introduced to generate four classes of longitudinal road surface roughness as multi-correlated random processes along deck transverse direction. On the basis of a correlation length of approximately half the bridge width, the upper limits of impact factors obtained under confidence level of 95 percent and side-by-side three-truck loading provide probability-based evidence for the evaluation of AASHTO specifications. The analytical results indicate that a better transverse correlation among road surface roughness generally leads to slightly higher impact factors. Suggestions are made for the routine maintenance of this type of highway bridges.

In this paper, brake steering performance of electric-driven special-purpose vehicles is investigated. A 14 DOF model is developed considering nonlinear character- istics of the suspension and tire. Based on the model, cornering performance is analyzed for brake steering, acceleration steering and pivoting, respectively. Simulation results are obtained based on the developed SIMULINK module. This analysis about the non steady state cornering performance is particularly important for armored vehicles because the projected route of the vehicle at emergency should be predicted accuracy.

In this study. a computer simulation of the Korean High Speed Prototype Test Train was performed to investigate the dynamic behavior(running stability. safety and comfort) in detail design process. The simulation model which was prepared by ADAMS/Rail V10.l consists of power car and middle car assembly (2 motorized cars + 3 trailer cars). The nonlinear analysis takes into account the full vehicle model including wheel/rail contact and the influence of disturbed track. Throughout the dynamic calculation of KHST on the straight and the curved track. accelerations in car body. ride comforts and wheel rail forces were investigated.

Equations of motion for a 7 DOF full car model is developed in detail and used for the design of LQR based active suspension system. The frequency response to road disturbance input and the motion of a car passing unequal bumps were used to analyzed the dynamic characteristics of the 7 DOF full car with passive or active suspensions. The resulting linear equations of motion may be usefull in designing other types of active suspension.
In this study, the periodic seismic performance evaluation scheme is proposed using a structural health monitoring system in terms of seismic fragility. An instrumented highway bridge is used to demonstrate the evaluation procedure involving (1) measuring ambient vibration of a bridge under general vehicle loadings, (2) identifying modal parameters from the measured acceleration data by applying output-only modal identification method, (3) updating a preliminary finite element model (obtained from structural design drawings) with the identified modal parameters using real-coded genetic algorithm, (4) analyzing nonlinear response time histories of the structure under earthquake excitations, and finally (5) developing fragility curves represented by a log-normal distribution function using maximum likelihood estimation. It is found that the seismic fragility of a highway bridge can be updated using extracted modal parameters and can also be monitored further by utilizing the instrumented structural health monitoring system.
Dynamics of AUV has heavy nonlinearities and many unknown parameters due to its bluff shape and low cruising speed. Intelligent algorithms, therefore, are required to overcome these nonlinearities and unknown system dynamics. Several identification techniques have been suggested for the application of control of underwater vehicles during last decade. This paper applies the neural network to identification and motion control problem of AUVs. Nonlinear dynamic systems of an AUV are identified using feedforward neural network. Simulation results show that the learned neural network can generate the motion of AUV. This paper, also, suggest an adaptive control scheme up-dates the controller weights with reference model and feedforward neural network using error back propagation.
