란탄니아 첨가량에 따른 Pr계 ZnO 바리스터의 전기적 특성 (The Electrical Characteristics of Pr-Based ZnO Varistors With Lanthania Additives)

  • The effects of lanthania on the microstructure and electrical characteristics of Pr-based ZnO varistors were investigated. The average grain size was increased in the range of 21.9$\sim$56.3${\mu}m$ with increasing lanthania content(0.0$\sim$2.0mol%). La was largely segregated at the grain boundary. As lanthania content increases, threshold voltage and nonlinear coefficient were decreased and leakage current was increased. In particular 2.0mol% lanthania-added varistor exhibited low threshold, voltage 17.0V/mm and nonlinear coefficient of around 6. Based on these results, this varistor can be said to be used as low-voltage varistor, if nonlinear coefficient is somewhat improved forward.

역모델을 이용한 MR 댐퍼의 감쇠계수 제어 (Control of Damping Coefficients for the Shear Mode MR Dampers Using Inverse Model)

  • A new linearization model for MR dampers is analyzed. The nonlinear hysteretic damping force model of MR damper can be modeled as a hyperbolic tangent function of currents, positions, and velicities, which is an algebraic function with constant parameters. Model parameters can be identified with numerical method using experimental force-velocity-position data obtained from various operating conditions. The nonlinear hysteretic damping force can be linearized with a given slope of damping coefficient if there exist corresponding currents to compensate for the nonlinearity. The corresponding currents can be calculated from the inverse model when the given linear damping force is set equal to the nonlinear hysteretic damping force. The linearization controller is realized in a DSP controller such that the corresponding currents to satisfy a given damping coefficient should be calculated. Experiments show that the current inputs to the MR damper produce linearized damping force with a given slope of the damping coefficient.

Construction and Application of Experimental Formula for Nonlinear Behavior of Ferroelectric Ceramics Switched by Electric Field at Room Temperature during Temperature Rise

  • A poled lead zirconate titanate (PZT) cube specimen that is switched by an electric field at room temperature is subject to temperature increase. Changes in polarization and thermal expansion coefficients are measured during temperature rise. The measured data are analyzed to obtain changes in pyroelectric coefficient and strain during temperature change. Empirical formulae are developed using linear or quadratic curve fitting to the data. The nonlinear behavior of the materials during temperature increase is predicted using the developed formulae. It is shown that the calculation results can be compared successfully with the measured values, which proves the accuracy and reliability of the developed formulae for the nonlinear behavior of the materials during temperature changes.

  • Degradation characteristics of the Pr-based ZnO varistor with $Y_2O_3$content (0.0-4.0 mol!%j were investigated. It was appeared that the variation of the J-E characteristics in the reverse direction before and after the applied stress with increasing $Y_2O_3$ content was larger than that of the forward direction but the variation was extrernly small. For all varistor, the leakage current with the stress time during the applied stress somewhat increased initialy but afterthat was almost constant or slightly decreased. The overall varistor voltage and nonlinear coefficient were less than 5%. Especially, in the case of Pr-based ZnO varistor containing 2.0 mol% to 4.0 mol% $Y_2O_3$, the variation of breakdown voltage and nonlinear coefficient was less than 1% and 5%. respectively. As a result, they showed good stability.

  • Design analysis and computer experiments (DACE) model is widely used to express efficiently the nonlinear responses in the field of engineering design. Kriging model, a DACE model, can approximately replace a simulation model that is very expensive or highly nonlinear. The kriging model is composed of the summation of a global model and a local model representing deviation from global model. The local model is determined by correlation coefficient of the pre-sampled points, where determination of the correct correlation coefficient has an effect on accuracy and robustness of the kriging model. Therefore, robustness of the correlation coefficient is explored with respect to degrees of the global model. Then we propose the range of correlation coefficient to make correct and robust kriging model and the influence of the correlation coefficients on the degrees of global model with respect to the nonlinearity of the pre-sampled responses.

  • Electric motors are widely used from precision industry to home appliance. For the precision control of the motors, if it is possible, we need the information of the correct motor parameters. In the motor torque equation, the motor inertia moment and the viscosity friction coefficient are regarded as constant. However the viscosity friction coefficient is not constant in the real system. In this paper, we show that the viscosity friction coefficient has the nonlinear property through the real test and we present the nonlinear function for the viscosity friction coefficient.

Three-dimensional limit analysis of seismic stability of tunnel faces with quasi-static method

  • Based on the existing research results, a three-dimensional failure mechanism of tunnel face was constructed. The dynamic seismic effect was taken into account on the basis of quasi-static method, and the nonlinear Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion was introduced into the limit analysis by using the tangent technique. The collapse pressure along with the failure scope of tunnel face was obtained through nonlinear limit analysis. Results show that nonlinear coefficient and initial cohesion have a significant impact on the collapse pressure and failure zone. However, horizontal seismic coefficient and vertical seismic proportional coefficient merely affect the collapse pressure and the location of failure surface. And their influences on the volume and height of failure mechanism are not obvious. By virtue of reliability theory, the influences of horizontal and vertical seismic forces on supporting pressure were discussed. Meanwhile, safety factors and supporting pressures with respect to 3 different safety levels are also obtained, which may provide references to seismic design of tunnels.

변위계수법 및 약산식 내진성능평가에 기초한 비보강 조적조 건물의 내진보강 요구강도 산정 (Strength Demand Calculation for Retrofitting Unreinforced Masonry Buildings Based on the Displacement Coefficient Method and the Preliminary Seismic Evaluation Procedure)

  • Based on the nonlinear static analysis and the approximate seismic evaluation method adopted in "Guidelines for seismic performance evaluation for existing buildings, two methods to calculate strength demand for retrofitting individual structural walls in unreinforced masonry buildings are proposed." The displacement coefficient method to determine displacement demand from nonlinear static analysis results is used for the inverse calculation of overall strength demand required to reduce the displacement demand to a target value meeting the performance objective of the unreinforced masonry building to retrofit. A preliminary seismic evaluation method to screen out vulnerable buildings, of which detailed evaluation is necessary, is utilized to calculate overall strength demand without structural analysis based on the difference between the seismic demand and capacity. A system modification factor is introduced to the preliminary seismic evaluation method to reduce the strength demand considering inelastic deformation. The overall strength demand is distributed to the structural walls to retrofit based on the wall stiffness, including the remaining walls or otherwise. Four detached residential houses are modeled and analyzed using the nonlinear static and preliminary evaluation procedures to examine the proposed method.

An innovative design method for nonlinear tuned mass damper

  • The commonly used TMD design method in the project assumes the TMD has pure linearity. However, in real engineering TMD will exhibit nonlinear behaviors. Without considering the nonlinearity of TMD, the control effect of the TMD that is designed by the linear design method, may be worse and even enlarge the structural response. In this paper, based on the previous study results of nonlinear TMD, the improved design method for engineering application is proposed. The linear design method and the improved design method are compared. Taking the best parameter obtained by the improved design method is less than or equal to 90% of that obtained by the original design method as the dividing line. The critical nonlinear coefficient, reaching which value the improved design method needs to be used, is given. Finally, numerical simulations on two engineering examples are conducted to proof the results.

특성행렬을 이용한 비선형 집적거울 Etalon의 해석 (Analysis of a Nonlinear Integrated-Mirror Etalon by the Characteristic Matrix Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 특성행렬을 사용하여 비선형 집적거울 etalon의 입출력 특성을 해석하는 방법을 제시한다. 빛의 세기에 따른 매질의 굴절률 및 흡수율의 변화 특성을 알면, 관계식과 특성행렬식을 결합하여 집적거울 etalon의 비선형 특성을 해석할 수 있다. 이 방법은 파장에 따른 각 거울의 반사율(크기와 위상)을 일일이 구하지 않고, etalon의 구조가 주어지면 바로 임의의 파장에서의 etalon의 입출력 특성을 해석할 수 있다. 또한, 특성행렬식을 이용하여 비선형 집적거울 etalon에서의 쌍안정성을 보였다.
