고밀도 지상강우관측망을 활용한 서울지역 정량적 실황강우장 산정 (Quantitative Precipitation Estimation using High Density Rain Gauge Network in Seoul Area)

  • For urban flash flood simulation, we need the higher resolution radar rainfall than radar rainfall of KMA, which has 10 min time and 1km spatial resolution, because the area of subbasins is almost below $1km^2$. Moreover, we have to secure the high quantitative accuracy for considering the urban hydrological model that is sensitive to rainfall input. In this study, we developed the quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE), which has 250 m spatial resolution and high accuracy using KMA AWS and SK Planet stations with Mt. Gwangdeok radar data in Seoul area. As the results, the rainfall field using KMA AWS (QPE1) is showed high smoothing effect and the rainfall field using Mt. Gwangdeok radar is lower estimated than other rainfall fields. The rainfall field using KMA AWS and SK Planet (QPE2) and conditional merged rainfall field (QPE4) has high quantitative accuracy. In addition, they have small smoothed area and well displayed the spatial variation of rainfall distribution. In particular, the quantitative accuracy of QPE4 is slightly less than QPE2, but it has been simulated well the non-homogeneity of the spatial distribution of rainfall.

Purification and Characterization of Streptococcus mutans Cell Wall Hydrolase from Bacillus subtilis YL-1004

  • Bacillus subtilis YL-1004 was isolated from soil for the development of agents to control dental caries. This strain produced an extracellular lytic enzyme that hydrolyzed the Streptococcus mutans cell wall. The lytic enzyme was purified to homogeneity by affinity chromatography and gel permeation chromatography to give a single band on SDS-PAGE and non-denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The molecular weight of the enzyme was deduced from SDS-PAGE and gel chromatography to be 38 kDa and the PI to be 4.3 from isoelectric focusing. Sirty $\%$ of its lytic activity remained after incubation at $50^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, and its optimal temperature was $37^{\circ}C$ . The enzyme showed its highest activity at pH 8.0 and was stable at pHs ranging from 4.0 to 9.0. Treatment with several modifiers showed that a cysteine residue was involved in the active site of the enzyme. This lytic enzyme from Bacillus subtilis YL-1004 exhibited specificity towards Streptococci and also showed autolytic activity on Bacillus subtilis YL-1004.

Study on thermal buckling and post-buckling behaviors of FGM tubes resting on elastic foundations

  • This paper studies thermal buckling and post-buckling behaviors of functionally graded materials (FGM) tubes subjected to a uniform temperature rise and resting on elastic foundations via a refined beam model. Compared to the Timoshenko beam theory, the number of unknowns of this model are the same and no correction factors are required. The material properties of the FGM tube vary continuously in the radial direction according to a power function. Two ends of the tube are assumed to be simply supported and in-plane boundary conditions are immovable. Energy variation principle is employed to establish the governing equations. A two-step perturbation method is adopted to determine the critical thermal buckling loads and post-buckling paths of the tubes with arbitrary radial non-homogeneity. Through detailed parametric studies, it can be found that the tube has much higher buckling temperature and post-buckling strength when it is supported by an elastic foundation.

통일 한국을 대비한 남북한 도서관교류협력에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Library Cooperation between South and North for the Unified Korea)

  • 학술과 문화 기반의 비이념적 정보교류협력은 비정치적이면서도 장기적 관점에서 민족 동질성과 신뢰회복에 가장 효과적일 수 있는 남북한 협력사업의 영역이라 할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 통일 한국을 대비하여 단계적인 남북한 협력기반 조성을 위해 국가도서관을 매개로 한 남북 문화교류협력에 관한 방안들을 조사 분석하였다. 관련하여 북한도서관의 기능과 한계 및 현재적 관점에서의 사회적 활용성을 살펴보고, 그간의 도서관교류협력사업을 남북한 문화분야 협력사업이라는 틀안에서 검토하였다. 이에 협력 거버넌스 체계구축 등 다섯 가지 협력안을 기반으로 남북 도서관교류협력의 단계적 모형을 제안하였다.

웃음치료가 구안와사환자의 안면마비 회복정도, 통증 및 스트레스에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Laughter Therapy on Recovery Status from Facial Paralysis, Pain and Stress in Bell's palsy Patients)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the effects of Laughter therapy on recovery status from facial paralysis, pain, and stress in Bell's palsy patients. Methods: This research was a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized pre-posttest quasi-experimental research design. Data were collected from August 8, to October 15, 2013 at D university Oriental Medical Center in B city. Participants were 60 patients with Bell's palsy who were assigned to one of two groups: an experimental group of 30 patients and a control group of 30 patients. t-test, $x^2-test$, Fisher's exact test and Welth-Aspin test were used to test the homogeneity between the two groups and t-test, Welth-Aspin test and ANCOVA were used to test the research hypotheses. SPSS program was used for statistical analysis. Results: There were significant increases in recovery status from facial paralysis and decreases in stress after Laughter therapy in the experimental group. Conclusion: The results indicate that Laughter therapy is effective in facilitating recovery status from facial paralysis and decreasing stress. Therefore, Laughter therapy can be used as an effective nursing intervention for patients with facial paralysis and to relieve stress in these patients.

생리식염액을 이용한 구강간호가 중환자실 환자의 구강상태에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Oral Care with Normal Saline on Oral State of Patients in Intensive Care Unit)

  • Purpose: To investigate the effect of oral care either with normal saline or with tantum solution on the oral state of the patients in intensive care unit as well as the frequency of bacteria occurrence inside their oral cavities. Method: The study was performed from March thru May of 2003 on the nonequivalent control group non-synchronized quasi-experimental design. Forty subjects were selected for each group. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 10.0 Win. The pre-experimental homogeneity and post-experimental differences between the two groups were analyzed with t-test. Result: There was a significant difference in the oral cavity state between the experimental group that had used normal saline and the control group that had used tantum solution. Conclusion: Based on the results described above, it is considered that normal saline is more effective than the tantum solution for the oral care of the patients in intensive care unit.

열전달 해석을 통한 스크롤 압축기 성능 개선 (Performance Improvement of a Scroll Compressor by Heat Transfer Analysis)

  • Numerical analysis using three dimensional finite volume method for the discretization, adaptive grid method for the numerical accuracy, multiple rotating frame method for the rotating body and the standard $k-{\epsilon}$ model for the turbulent flow was performed to understand the heat transfer phenomena and to improve the efficiency of the scroll compressor. The temperature measurement was carried out under ARI condition. It was found that the fluid temperature in the compressor was predicted accurately while the temperature of the motor coil showed large discrepancy between the calculation and experiment due to the large anisotropy of the conductivity and non homogeneity. We found that the efficiency of the compressor depends on the inlet temperature of the compressing part and the flow pattern around the inlet region of the compressing part influences the inlet temperature due to high surface temperature of the main frame. The efficiency of the compressor using Coanda effect is higher than the previous one because the smooth suction at the inlet region of the compressing part leads to low heat transfer to the refrigerant of the compressor.

  • Single crystal of Li2Cu1-xMxO4 (M=Ni, Zn) are promising as a substrate to realize superconducting electronic devices. The distribution coefficients of Ni and Zn to the Cu site in La2CuO4 (LCO) were estimated by the zone melting technique to grow high quality single crystals of La2Cu1-xMxO4(M=Ni, Zn). The distribution coefficient value of Ni was estimated to be 4.2 and that of Zn was estimated to be 0.66, respectively. Suitable solvent compositions were determined using these values to grow single crystals by he traveling floating zone (TSFZ) method. Single crystal of LCO, La2Cu1-xMxO4(M=Ni(x=0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04), Zn(x=0.01, 0.02, 0.03) of high homogeneity were grown. The behaviors of the magnetization of these as-grown crystals do not indicate superconductivity except LCO. Ni or Zn substitution can make LCO non superconductor. This fact suggest that single crystals substituted by Ni or Zn are useful as substrate crystals.

$Al_2O_3/SiC$ Hybrid-Composite에서 SiC에 질화물 코팅의 영향 (The Effect of Nitride Coating on SiC Platelet in $Al_2O_3/SiC$ Hybrid-Composite)

  • Al2O3/SiC hybrid-composite has been fabricated by the conventional powder process. The addition of $\alpha$-Al2O3 as seed particles in the transformation of ${\gamma}$-Al2O3 to $\alpha$-Al2O3 provided a homogeneity of the microstructure. The grain growth of Al2O3 are significantly surpressed by the addition of nano-size SiC particles. Dislocation were produced due to the difference of thermal expansion coefficient between Al2O3 and SiC and piled up on SiC particles in Al2O3 matrix, resulting in transgranular fracture. The high fracture strength of the composite was contributed to the grain refinement and the transgranular fracture mode. The addition of SiC platelets to Al2O3/SiC nano-composite decreased the fracture strength, but increased the fracture toughness. Coated SiC platelets with nitrides such as BN and Si3N4 enhanced fracture toughness much more than non-coated SiC platelets by enhancing crack deflection.

척추 및 경막외마취 수술환자에게 시행한 개방적 및 폐쇄적 음악요법의 효과 (The Effects of the Closed and Open Musical Therapies to the Patients with Spinal and Epidural Anesthesia Operation)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of musical therapy and the differences of two different ways of musical therapy: the closed musical therapy using a headset and the open musical therapy using cassette player. Methods: his study was designed with the non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The research cases were 60 spinal and epidural anesthesia surgery patients at K University Hospital in C city from January 3, to March 31, 2005. We measured trait & state anxiety, blood sugar level, vital signs. The group was divided into two: experimental and control group. Results: 1) There are no significant differences between an experimental group and a control group in homogeneity test. 2) We can see that musical therapy during operations stabilizes blood pressure, and reduces sugar level in blood, and decreases psychological anxiety. 3) And the closed musical therapy has more obvious and significant effects than the open musical therapy. Conclusion: We could conclude our study here saying musical therapy during operations is necessary in easing patients' anxieties. More advanced researches on the subject are required to prove validity of the findings in our pilot study.
