  • At a time when non-face-to-face classes are being held for a long time due to Corona (COVD-19), research on non-face-to-face teaching and learning methods is needed. Existing teaching and learning methods are limited in their application to non-face-to-face classes as they present face-to-face practical and experiential teaching methods. In this study, we present a method of utilizing the extended reality (XR: eXtended Reality) technology for the 5AL (5 Activity Learning) teaching method, which is a teaching and learning method selected by the Institute for University Education Innovation. The 5AL teaching method consists of PBL Learning, Havruta Learning, Flipped Learning, Smart Activity Learning, and Gamification Learning. In this study, a method of combining the released extended reality contents with 5AL was presented. In addition, we developed content that integrates the 5 learning methods of 5AL and confirmed the learning effect through testing.

  • Daily science classes, which have been continued as part of the spread of participatory science culture, has taken the lead in popularizing science as an effective out-of-school experiential and research activity. However, due to the recent COVID-19 situation, daily science classes have also become an environment in which there is no choice but to switch to non-face-to-face or to combine face-to-face and non-face-to-face education. Therefore, in this study, we examine how elementary school students participating in the non-face-to-face daily science class program change their usual fields of interest, perception of science and technology, interest about science, and scientific competency. In addition, the educational effectiveness of the non-face-to-face daily science class improved by comparing the differences in perceptions of students and parents, and future operation plans were sought. As a result of the study, after participating in the non-face-to-face daily science class program, students' interest in science and technology development, future technology, environmental pollution, and social media increased, and their interest in games decreased. Also, students' interest in science and technology activities, interest in science, and scientific competency also increased. This shows that non-face-to-face daily science class education is effective. Therefore, it was suggested that it is necessary to diversify the learning topics and content levels of the daily science class program, to expand the opportunities of non-face-to-face science education for underprivileged learners, and to develop and share science content using the latest media.

  • This study surveyed 2nd graders of B high school and 1st graders of A university in Gyeongnam on factors such as behavior control and interaction in non-face-to-face classes, easy or difficult concepts presented in chemistry I and general chemistry textbooks. Based on the results of the survey, the effect of changes in the difficulty level of concepts presented in chemistry I and general chemistry and changes in class types (face-to-face and non-face-to-face) on students' academic achievement by level was compared and analyzed. In the face-to-face class, the average score between the first and second semesters was similar according to the change in the difficulty of the concepts presented in chemistry I and general chemistry. In the non-face-to-face class, the average score of chemistry I in the second semester was quite low, and the average score of general chemistry was rather high. In non-face-to-face classes, the average score of chemistry I in the second semester of low-level students was significantly lowered due to changes in the difficulty of the concept and changes in class types on academic achievement by level. In the case of 10% of students at the lower level, the academic achievement of chemistry I decreased in both the second semester regardless of the changes in the difficulty level of concepts and the changes in class types.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore ways to improve the quality of real-time video lectures in a non-face-to-face environment using IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis). Recently, due to the impact of COVID-19 in universities, all remote classes are being implemented, so research is needed to raise learner awareness. Accordingly, factor analysis, mean analysis, correspondence analysis, and IPA analysis were performed based on the data of 632 students who responded from March 21 to June 30, 2021 for learners of K University in Chungbuk. First, overall satisfaction was low compared to importance, and the difference in system perception was the largest. Second, the difference in learner perception of real-time video lectures through the IPA matrix showed that the system error and screen cutoff were the largest. Third, the difficulty of lecture content, task and test feedback, etc. are classified. Accordingly, the satisfaction of real-time video lectures in non-face-to-face environments is low, suggesting that school-level support for quality improvement to improve learner satisfaction in non-face-to-face environments and the role of instructors are needed to improve learners' academic achievement.

  • As non face-to-face classes carry on discussion about learner's attention continues. To improve learning effect learner's attention is important whether non face-to-face classes or face-to-face classes. In this study a mobile application prototype inducing learner attention is developed taking account of learner emotion that is one of the factors affecting learner attention. When learner selects one of the four emotions displayed in the application, it shows the activity inducing the learner's attention related to the selected emotion. In order to evaluate the usability of the developed application, 32 middle and high school students are asked to run the application and then conduct a survey using 5 point Likert scale. The survey result indicates that there is a possibility that the developed application in this study induces learner attention as showing that the result point of 'I can pay attention' and 'I feel psychological stable' is respectively 3.56 and the result point of 'I feel useless thought disappear' is 3.6.
