The purpose of this study is to evaluate the bioresorbability of Calcium Polyphosphate added with $Na_2O$ and chitosan. Though calcium phosphate ceramics meet some of the needs for bone replacement, they have some limitation of unresorbability and fibrous encapsulation without direct bone apposition during bone remodelling. To solve these problem, we developed a new ceramic, calcium polyphosphate(CPP), and report the biologic response to CPP in extraction sites of beagle dog. Porous CPP granules were prepared by condensation of anhydrous $Ca(H_2PO_4)_2$ to form non-crystalline $Ca(PO_3)_2$. CPP granules added with $Na_2O$ and chitosan were implanted in extraction sockets and histologic observation were performed at 12 weeks later. Histologic observation at 12 weeks revealed that CPP matrix were mingled with and directly apposed to new bone without any intervention of fibrous connective tissue. CPP granules added with chitosan were well adatped without any adverse tissue reaction and resorbed slowly and spontaneously. CPP granules added with $Na_2O$ and chitosan show multinucleated giant cells and osteoblast-like cells around grafted material and newly formed bone. This result revealed that CPP, regardless of its additive component, had a high affinity for bone and had been resorbed slowly. From this results, it was suggested that CPP is promising ceramic as a bone substitute and addition of $Na_2O$ and chitosan help biodegradation. In further study , it will be determined which concentration of $Na_2O$ help biodegradation and the other additive components increase the degradation rate.

With the explosive growth of information about books, there is a growing number of customers who find it difficult to pick a book. Against the backdrop, the importance of a book recommendation system becomes greater, through which appropriate information about books could be offered then to encourage customers to buy a book in the end. However, existing recommendation systems based on the bibliographical information or user data reveal the reliability issue found in their recommendation results. This is why it is necessary to reflect semantic information extracted from the texts of a book's main body in a recommendation system. Accordingly, this paper suggests a method for extracting keywords from the main body of novels, as a preceding research, by using TF-IDF method as well as the text structure. To this end, the texts of 100 novels have been collected then to divide them into four structural elements of preface, dialogue, non-dialogue and closing. Then, the TF-IDF weight of each keyword has been calculated. The calculation results show that the extraction accuracy of keywords improves by 42.1% in performance when more weight is given to dialogue while including preface and closing instead of using just the main body.

Background: Studies on the pain have been dealing with many different ways for last several centuries. Especially, preemptive analgesia is being used as a method to control the postoperative pain. Many studies on its efficacy have been processed in different ways about various drugs, administration methods and times for various operations. And the value of preemptive analgesia are still controversial regarding the results of other clinical studies. The authors performed a clinical study on efficacy of preemptive analgesia using an non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for the surgical extraction of impacted third molar teeth and present the more effective pain treatment after oral surgery with literature review. Methods: Using a randomized double blind test design, this study compared the analgesic efficacies of an NSAID, Talniflumate 370 mg. This drug administrated first either 1 hour preoperatively (experimental group) or when the pain developed moderately to severely over 5 scale of verbal rating scales (0-10) to respective 30 patients undergoing the removal of impacted third molars. Pain intensity and the time from the end of surgery were assessed postoperatively whenever the patients demanded additional drug over 5 scale for forty eight hours using same verbal rating scales. Results: The sex distribution, the age of the patients. and the time required for surgery in two groups were similar. The average first time for demanding additional drug after surgery was 163.9 minutes in experimental group and 191.5 minutes in control group. At this time, the average pain intensity was 5.8 in experimental group and 6.1 in control group. And the average second time for demanding additional drug was 365.5 minutes in experimental group and 351.8 minutes in control group. At this time. the average pain intensities were 6.6 in experimental group and 6.2 in control group. No statistically significant difference was found between the average first times and second times, and the average pain intensities at first and second times in two groups. Conclusions: From these results the efficacy of preemptive analgesia used in this study was not appeared. This clinical study indicates that many NSAIDs administrated preoperatively in present practices have weak efficacy of preemptive analgesia for postoperative pain, thus the authors recommend that only postoperative analgesics are adequate without preoperative use of analgesics.

Target detection and recognition problems, in which neural networks are widely used, require translation invariant and real-time processing in addition to the requirements that general pattern recognition problems need. This paper presents a novel architecture that meets the requirements and explains effective methodology to train the network. The proposed neural network is an architectural extension of the shared-weight neural network that is composed of the feature extraction stage followed by the pattern recognition stage. Its feature extraction stage performs correlational operation on the input with a weight kernel, and the entire neural network can be considered a nonlinear correlation filter. Therefore, the output of the proposed neural network is correlational plane with peak values at the location of the target. The architecture of this neural network is suitable for implementing with parallel or distributed computers, and this fact allows the application to the problems which require realtime processing. Net training methodology to overcome the problem caused by unbalance of the number of targets and non-targets is also introduced. To verify the performance, the proposed network is applied to detection and recognition problem of a specific automobile driving around in a parking lot. The results show no false alarms and fast processing enough to track a target that moves as fast as about 190 km per hour.

Over recent years, the development of multimedia devices has meant that a wider multimedia streaming service can be supported, and there are now many ways in which TV channels can communicate with different terminals. Generally, scalable video streaming is known to provide more efficient channel capacity than simulcast video streaming. Simulcast video streaming requires a large network bandwidth for all resolutions, but scalable video streaming needs only one flow for all resolutions. On the contrary, to preserve the same video quality, SVC(Sealable Video Coding) needs a higher bit-rate than AVC(non-layered Video Coding) due to the coding penalty($10%{\sim}30%$). In previous research, scalable video streaming has been compared with simulcast video streaming for network channel capacity, in two-user simulation environments. The simulation results show that the channel capacity of SVC is $16{\sim}20%$ smaller than AVC, but scalable video streaming is not efficient because of the limit of the present network framework. In this paper, we propose a new network framework with a new router using EDE(Extraction Decision Engine) and SVC Extractor to improve network performance. In addition, we compare the SVC environment in the proposed framework with previous research on the same way subject. The proposed network framework shows a channel capacity 50%(maximum) lower than that found in previous research studies.
This paper presents an algorithm that automatically extracts buildings among many different features on the earth surface by fusing LIDAR data with panchromatic aerial images. The proposed algorithm consists of three stages such as point level process, polygon level process, parameter space level process. At the first stage, we eliminate gross errors and apply a local maxima filter to detect building candidate points from the raw laser scanning data. After then, a grouping procedure is performed for segmenting raw LIDAR data and the segmented LIDAR data is polygonized by the encasing polygon algorithm developed in the research. At the second stage, we eliminate non-building polygons using several constraints such as area and circularity. At the last stage, all the polygons generated at the second stage are projected onto the aerial stereo images through collinearity condition equations. Finally, we fuse the projected encasing polygons with edges detected by image processing for refining the building segments. The experimental results showed that the RMSEs of building corners in X, Y and Z were 8.1cm, 24.7cm, 35.9cm, respectively.
In this paper, we propose a method of character detection by analyzing image enhancement and character type to detect characters in natural images that can be acquired in everyday life. The proposed method emphasizes the boundaries of the object part using the unsharp mask in order to improve the detection rate of the area to be recognized as a character in a natural image. By using the boundary of the enhanced object, the character candidate region of the image is detected using Maximal Stable Extermal Regions (MSER). In order to detect the region to be judged as a real character in the detected character candidate region, the shape of each region is analyzed and the non-character region other than the region having the character characteristic is removed to increase the detection rate of the actual character region. In order to compare the objective test of this paper, we compare the detection rate and the accuracy of the character region with the existing methods. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the detection rate and accuracy of the character region over the existing character detection method.

Despite increasing demands for big data application based on the analysis of scattered unstructured data, few relevant studies have been reported. Accordingly, the present study suggests a technique enabling a sentence-based semantic analysis by extracting objects from collected web information and automatically analyzing the relationships between such objects with collective intelligence and language processing technology. To be specific, collected information is stored in DBMS in a structured form, and then morpheme and feature information is analyzed. Obtained morphemes are classified into objects of interest, marginal objects and objects of non-interest. Then, with an inter-object attribute recognition technique, the relationships between objects are analyzed in terms of the degree, scope and nature of such relationships. As a result, the analysis of relevance between the information was based on certain keywords and used an inter-object relationship extraction technique that can determine positivity and negativity. Also, the present study suggested a method to design a system fit for real-time large-capacity processing and applicable to high value-added services.

Objectives : The specificity of acupuncture point has been a highly controversial subject. Existing researches said that ion-distribution differences are observed on the acupuncture point. This study was conducted under the assumption that multiple ionic changes induced by muscle fatigue would be different between the acupuncture point with non-acupuncture point. Methods : To induce the identical fatigue, twenty subjects performed the knee extension/flexion exercise using the Biodex System 3. ST32 and ST33 as well as adjacent non-acupuncture points were selected. We measured blood lactate and analyzed the median frequency(MF) and peak torque. To obtain the information on the extracellular fluid(ECW), intracellular fluid(ICW) and cell membrane indirectly, we used the multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis(MF-BIA) method. Results : MF, peak torque and blood lactate level of all measurement sites were gradually returned to normal. Re resistance of ST32 had a stronger response, but a non-acupuncture point adjacent to ST33 had a larger response up to 20 minutes post exercise. Ri resistances were similar for both acupoints and non-acupoints. The $C_m$ capacitance of ST32 had a stronger response after inducing fatigue, but ST33 had a smaller response than a non-acupuncture point adjacent to it. Conclusions : In comparison with before and after inducing fatigue, the specificity of acupuncture points was not clearly observed. Hence, we concluded that the body composition factors extraction method had the limitation as a method of finding the specificity of acupuncture points by inducing fatigue.
The purpose of this study was to make and ascertain a decision making process on the base of patient-oriented utilitarianism in the treatment of patients of chronic adult periodontitis. Fifty subjects were chosen in Yonsei Dental hospital and the other fifty were chosen in Severance dental hospital according to the selection criteria. Fifty four patients agreed in this study. NS group(N=32) was treated with scaling and root planing without any surgical intervention, the other S group(N=22) done with flap operation. During the active treatment and healing time, all patients of both groups were educated about the importance of oral hygiene and controlled every visit to the hospital. When periodontal treatment needed according to the diagnostic results, some patients were subjected to professional tooth cleaning and scaling once every 3 months according to an individually designed oral hygienic protocol. Probing depth was recorded on baseline and 18 months after treatments. A questionnaire composed of 6 kinds(hygienic easiness, hypersensitivity, post treatment comfort, complication, functional comfort, compliance) of questions was delivered to each patient to obtain the subjective evaluation regarding the results of therapy. The decision tree for the treatment of adult periodontal disease was made on the result of 2 kinds of periodontal treatment and patient's ubjective evaluation. The optimal path was calculated by using the success rate of the results as the probability and utility according to relative value and the economic value in the insurance system. The success rate to achieve the diagnostic goal of periodontal treatment as the remaining pocket depth less than 3mm and without BOP was $0.83{\pm}0.12$ by non surgical treatment and $0.82{\pm}0.14$ by surgical treatment without any statistically significant difference. The moderate success rate of more than 4mm probing pocket depth were 0.17 together. The utilities of non-surgical treatment results were 100 for a result with less than 3mm probing pocket depth, 80 for the other results with more than 4mm probing pocket depth, 0 for the extraction. Those of surgical treatment results were the same except 75 for the results with more than 4mm. The pooling results of subjective evaluation by using a questionnaire were 60% for satisfaction level and 40% for no satisfaction level in the patient group receiving nonsurgical treatment and 33% and 67% in the other group receiving surgical treatment. The utilities for 4 satisfaction levels were 100, 75, 60, 50 on the base of that the patient would express the satisfaction level with normal distribution. The optimal path of periodontal treatment was rolled back by timing the utility on terminal node and the success rate, the distributed ratio of patient's satisfaction level. Both results of the calculation was non surgical treatment. Therefore, it can be said that non-surgical treatment may be the optimal path for this decision tree of treatment protocol if the goal of the periodontal treatment is to achieve the remaining probing pocket depth of less than 3mm for adult chronic periodontitis and if the utilitarian philosophy to maximise the expected utility for the patients is advocated.
