This study has attempted to show general characteristics of health centre directors who have served the post of directorship during the last 40 years. Of 3,000 such health centre directors, information on about 2,500 directors was collected. While average length of service for health center directors has increased, that of vacancy period has decreased. Rural areas have a shorter average length of service than the urban area. Rural areas have twice longer length of vacancy period per health center. Kangwon-do has the longest average length of vacancy period since 1980(2.79 months/year), and Daejeon has the shortest length of vacancy period(0.21 months/year). Chung-buk has no physician directors. The civil servant's rank for the directorship has promoted from the fifth level to the fourth level since 1990. A comparison between the physician director & non-physician director was made as follows : first, the proportion of physician directors had maintained rather high before 1980 s; 62.5% in 1963, 78.3% in 1970, 70.4% in 1980. It decreased to 44.1% in 1990 and 47.6% in 1997. Instead, non-physician directors has abruptly increased since 1980s (12.4% in 1980, 55.4% in 1990 and 50.8% in 1997). Second, physician directors mainly locate in the urban area(58.0% in 1997), but non-physician directors mainly in the rural area(67.2% in 1997). Third, since 1980, the average length of service for physician directors and for non-physician directors has become similar. Fourth, the mean age of physician directors is 45.1 years, and that of non-physician directors 55.7 years. The latter is 10 years older than the former.
This study was conducted to investigate the dietary behaviors and health-related lifestyles, according to exercise habits, of female university students in the Jeonju area. Self-administered questionnaires were collected from 285 students, and the statistical data analysis was completed using the SPSS v. 10.0 program. The results are summarized as follows. The weight, height, and BMI averages of the regular exercise and non-exercise groups were 53.05 kg, 162.46 cm, and 20.23, and 50.81 kg, 161.46 cm, and 19.48, respectively. The breakfast skipping ratio was higher in the non-exercise group than the exercise group. More than 72% of the exercise and 71% of the non-exercise group responded to regularly having lunch at the university canteens or restaurants around campus. Approximately 70% of the exercise and 71% of the non-exercise group responded to having dinner irregularly, which was mainly caused by reasons such as 'irregularity of life style' and 'appointments with friends'. The snack intake ratios of the exercise and non-exercise groups were high, but the exercise group ate more fruit, yogurt, and milk than the non-exercise group. The favorite sports of the exercise group were 'walk(jogging)', 'yoga', 'bicycle,' 'swim,' etc. In particular, 5.3% of the exercise group had ridden a bicycle to the university. More than 97% of the students were non-smokers. About 14% of the exercise and 15% of the non-exercise group rank alcohol once or twice a week. The exercise group did not show exceptional health-oriented dietary behaviors in comparison to the non-exorcise group. Therefore, an exercise-oriented nutrition education program would be beneficial to the students, in order to improve their dietary behaviors and health-related lifestyles.

The purpose of this study is to identify the practical knowledge about osteoporosis and health promoting behavior possessed by male and female university students in their twenties. Next, the study seeks to analyze the difference in the degree of knowledge and practice of health promoting behavior depending on the students' area of study (health-related or non-health-related major) and previous education about osteoporosis. A survey was given to 300 male and female university students in Jeju Island from November 18 to December 6, 2013. Regarding knowledge about osteoporosis, the accuracy rate of health science major participants was 16.8 % higher than that of those of non-health science, and the accuracy rate of participants with previous education about osteoporosis was 12.9 % higher than those who had not. Health promoting behavior showed a higher degree of practice among students in health-related majors and those with previous applicable education. There were significant differences between the knowledge of osteoporosis and major and the presence and absence of prior education. Regarding the degree of health promoting behavior and major, the presence or absence of prior education showed significant differences. Among male and female students in their twenties, the recognition of knowledge about osteoporosis is very low. There is a need to develop various programs that focus on osteoporosis prevention rather than treatment, to improve the quality of education and training content according to the individual, and to lower the target age for osteoporosis education.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to demonstrate that non-participation of physical therapists on the political decision-making committee results in invasion of their interests. Methods: To demonstrate the effects, we analyzed the change of medical insurance score decided by the Health Insurance Policy Deliberation Committee between 2001 and 2012 years, focusing on medical examination as the interest of the participation group and physical therapy cost as interest of the non-participation group. Results: Total medical insurance cost increased by 23.72%, on average. Medical examination cost increased by 23.90% and 37.66% in medical examination for new and established patients, respectively. However, physical therapy cost was reduced by 5.01%. The medical examination cost for physical therapy without medical checkup increased by 2.62%. Conclusion: This study shows that the physical therapy cost, related on the interest of the non-participative group in the Health Insurance Policy Deliberation Committee, rather decreased while the total medical insurance cost increased. These findings demonstrate the invasion of the non-participative group on the Health Insurance Policy Deliberation Committee. Thus, aggressive participation in political decision-making committee is necessary in order to protect and increase rights and interests of Korean physical therapists.
