  • With the introduction of the post-verification system, the measurement of floor impact noise performance on-site has become mandatory, and the evaluation method has changed. To track the performance changes since the policy implementation, research is needed on how the characteristics of heavyweight impact sound change according to the varied evaluation method. In this study, we analyzed the contribution rate of the frequency band-specific sound pressure level on the single-number quantity for a multi-family housing unit with the same floor plan and floor structure, comprising 59 households, based on the changed impact sources and evaluation indicators. It is difficult to compare simply because the method of calculating contributions by frequency band according to the single-day evaluation is different, but the average contribution rate of 63 Hz was 80.8 % in the evaluation method before the introduction of the post-confirmation system (Tire measurement and evaluated as L'i,Fmax,AW), and the average contribution rate of 125 Hz was 19.2 %. The current evaluation method (rubber ball measurement and evaluation as L'iA,Fmax) shows that the contribution rate has decreased to 33.1 % on average at 50 Hz ~ 80 Hz, 58.7 % on average at 100 Hz ~ 160 Hz, 6.9 % on average at 200 Hz ~ 315 Hz, and 1.3 % on average at 400 Hz ~ 630 Hz. This result is a case analysis for the target apartment house, and it is necessary to analyze measurement data for more diverse apartment houses.

  • Most engineers, related to soil and civil dynamic field, have been interested in the direct dynamic design of building transmitted from soil and rock to structure due to blasting. However it is not easy to estimate the dynamic response of structures due to blasting by using analytical method because of difficulties of soil modeling, prediction of excitation force and so on. In this paper, dynamic analysis have been performed to predict vibration level and evaluate dynamic safety of structure adjacent to tunnel blast and the semi empirical method, which is based on vibration measurement data, has been employed to consider blast vibration characteristics.

  • Five floor coverings were tested with three different types of floor structures in the standard test building in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the floor impact sound reduction. The level of floor impact sound reduction is influenced by not only the types of floor coverings but interrelationship between the floor coverings and floor structures. From the tests, it was found that floor coverings were effective in reducing the floor impact sound using the light impact source. In addition, proper mixtures of the floor structure and the floor covering have shown effectiveness to a certain extent in reducing the floor impact sound using the heavy impact source.

  • This paper presents yaw vibration control performances of railway vehicle featuring controllable magnetorheological damper. A cylindrical type of MR damper is devised and its damping force is evaluated by considering fluid resistance and MR effect. Design parameters are determined to achieve desired damping force level. The MR damper model is then incorporated with the governing equations of motion of the railway vehicle which includes vehicle body, bogie and wheel-set. Subsequently, computer simulation of vibration control via proportional-integral-derivative(PID) controller is performed using Matlab. Various control performances are demonstrated under external excitation by creep force between wheel and rail.

  • In this paper, the results of an analysis of the dynamic behavior of the eddy current brake(ECB) system are presented. The measured irregularity of the track in Korean high speed line and the track irregularity given by ERRI(high level) were used for simulation. The wheel-rail profile combination were analyzed with different rail gauges. A model of the bogie with an substitute body fur the carbody was implemented in the Multi-Body-Simulation Program Simpack. • The aim of the study is to develope an objective index for the evaluation of vehicle ride comfort using the measured vehicle accelerations. The equation of the index was derived from the correlation analysis of subjective ratings on selected vehicles and the reduced measure of the vehicle motions. First whole procedure of from the measurements to the calculation of the perceptual vibration was developed. Test condition of both the vehicle speed and the road condition was selected so as to maximize the reliability of the index. This paper suggested the equation of the objective ride index on vibration harshness, of which expected error is about 0.3 in 10 scale of subjective rating at 95% of the significance level.

  • In this paper we present an overview of the factors and techniques that must be considered in vibration measurements in the floor structures for microelectronics facilities. Normally narrowband vibration spectrum or equivalent signals are suggested as the guide indexes of site vibration phenomina. But it cannot support perfect informations in designing vibration control systems for the vibration sensitive equipment even though the spectrum serves to illustrate the fact that most real vibration environments are dominated by broadband energy as opposed to tonal energy. The major topics cover stiffness in frequency and time domain, acceleration level and modal characteristics from experimental modal analysis as well as narrowband spectrum. The combined signal analysis through the items mentioned above can give better solutions and would be positively recomended to solve the vibration problems on a sort of limited field.

  • This paper describes the characteristics of vibration of a hydraulic turbine mainly due to cavitation occurrence. The analysis of vibration spectra of the turbine shaft shows that hub vortex cavitation occurs in the downstream of the turbine runner, which is verified from coherence analysis between shaft vibration displacement and dynamic pressure at the draft tube. Even though acceleration level measured at the guide vane lever, which is usually used for evaluation of cavitations performance, is decreased during forced aeration, it is found from the analysis of dynamic pressure spectra that cavitation around runner blades still remains unchanged. It is also found that lateral vibration of the turbine shaft is mainly due to the hub vortex cavitation of the turbine runner.

  • Wired monitoring systems have been used for damage detection and dynamic analysis of large structures(bridges, dams, plants, etc.). However, the real-world applications still remain limited, mainly due to time and cost issues inherent to wired systems. In recent years, an increasing number of researchers have adopted WSN(wireless sensor network) technologies to the field of SHM(structural health monitoring). Accurate time synchronization is most critical for the wireless approach to be feasible for SHM purpose, along with sufficient wireless bandwidth and highly precise measuring resolution. To satisfy technical criteria stated above, a wireless vibration monitoring system that uses high-precision MEMS(micro-electro-mechanical system) sensors and A/D convertor is discussed in detail. It was found experimentally that the level of time synchronization fell within $200\;{\mu}sec$.

  • This study is to make the fundamentals of sound quality evaluation in regard of acoustical characteristics of passenger compartment. The deviation of frequency response function level within audible frequency is evaluated at receiving point in the research of room acoustics. In this study, frequency response function is the one between speaker and driver's ear positions. The positions of driver and audio speakers are optimized by analysis of acoustic mode of acoustic cavity. The main reflection planes are determined by analysis sound ray path diffused at optimized speaker positions. Finally, designer selects acoustical material by analysis of absorption effect of acoustical materials on the main reflection planes in order to avoid to distortion and fluctuation of frequency response function..
