늑골 방사선검사 시 X선관 초점-영상수신체간 거리에 따른 환자선량과 화질의 연관성 평가 (Evaluation of Relationship between Radiation Dose and Image Quality according to Source to Image Receptor Distance in Rib Series Radiography)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the patient dose according to the distance between the X-ray tube focus and the image receptor, and to propose a new method for quantitatively evaluating the image quality. Using this quantitative evaluation method, the optimal distance for increasing x-ray image quality with low radiation dose was estimated between source and image receptor in Rib series radiography. Phantom images were obtained by changing the distance between focus and image receptor (100 cm and 180 cm). The patient radiation dose was estimated using entrance surface dose and dose area product. In order to evaluate image quality objectively, a non - reference image evaluation method was employed with paper and salt noise and Gaussian filter. As a result of this study, when the SID was changed from 100 cm to 180 cm, the entrance surface dose decreased by 4 ~ 5 times and the dose area product decreased by 3 times. In addition, there is no significant difference in image quality between of SID 180 cm and SID 100 cm. In conclusion, it was demonstrated that performing the rib series radiography at SID 180 cm is an optimal method to reduce the exposure dose and improve the image quality.

폴리카보네이트 판재의 재활용을 위한 자기연마 가공 (An Experimental Study on Magnetic Assisted Polishing of Polycarbonate Plate for Recycling)

  • This study has focused on transparency recovering of the polycarbonate by polishing its surface for recycling. The polycarbonate has many properties such as excellent mechanical strength, electrical insulating, superior heat resistance to other plastic material and especially good transparency. It has been used as barrier for the traffic noise at the roadside and the greenhouse for the palm house. But the polycarbonate has changed slightly as time goes by 10 years because of exposure to the strong sunlight and oxidization in the atmosphere, as result has lost its transparency. Magnetic assisted polishing has been utilized as an effective polishing method to recover the transparency of polycarbonate. The polycarbonate which has been used for 10 years was adopted as the sample. The first surface roughness of the sample was 1$1.23{\mu}mRa$, $7.5{\mu}mRz(DIN)$ respectively. In the experimental results, it showed that the surface roughness of the polished sample improved $0.013{\mu}mRa$, $0.08{\mu}mRz(DIN)$ from the first surface roughness respectively. The surface roughness get almost back again by magnetic assisted polishing. These results also showed that the magnetic assisted polishing was efficient machining method to reuse the polycarbonate material.

Design and Implementation of the RF Systems for Bi-directional Wireless Capsule Endoscopes

  • This paper explains that the RF systems for hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes were designed and implemented. The designed RF systems for a capsule endoscope can transmit the images of intestines from the inside to the outside of a body and the behavior of the capsules can be controlled by an external controller simultaneously. The hi-directional wireless capsule endoscope consists of a CMOS image sensor, FPGA, LED, battery, DC to DC Converter, transmitter, receiver, and antennas. The transmitter and receiver which were used in the hi-directional capsule endoscope, were designed and fabricated with $10mm(diameter){\times}3.2mm(thickness)$ dimensions taking into the MPE, power consumption, system size, signal to noise ratio and modulation method. The RF systems designed and implemented for the hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes system were verified by in-vivo experiments. As a result, the RF systems for the hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes satisfied the design specifications.

  • Welders are exposed to a number of hazards including metal fumes, toxic gases, electricity, heat, noise, and radiation such as ultraviolet and infrared light. We encountered a patient who developed non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema within a day after cutting copper pipe with an oxyethylene torch. The patient was a 26-year-old welder. He complained of dyspnea, generalized myalgia, and febrile sensation the following morning. The patient's chest X-ray and chest CT scan showed extensively distributed and ill-defined centrilobular nodules. Both his symptoms and chest X-ray abnormalities improved spontaneously. We attributed the patient's symptoms to non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema due to nitrogen dioxide, reasoning that: 1) the pipe consisted only of copper, according to material safety data sheet (MSDS); 2) a previous report in the literature demonstrated increased nitrogen dioxide levels under similar conditions; 3) the patient's clinical course and radiologic findings were very reminiscent of non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema following accidental exposure to nitrogen dioxide.

우즈베키스탄 Maidanak 천문대 Fairchild 486 CCD의 기본적인 특성 (CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FAIRCHILD 486 CCD AT MAIDANAK ASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATORY IN UZBEKISTAN)

  • Understanding of the basic characteristics of an astronomical instrument is a prerequisite to obtaining reliable data from the instrument. We have analyzed more than 1,000 calibration images from the Fairchild 486 CCD (hereafter the Maidanak 4k CCD system) attached to the AZT-22 1.5m telescope at Maidanak Astronomical Observatory in Uzbekistan. The Maidanak 4k CCD system supports three readout modes through 1, 2, or 4 amplifiers. In most cases observers use 4-amplifier readout mode to save time. We have tested the stability and seasonal variation of zero levels and confirm that two quadrants of the images (Amp 1 & 2) show no appreciable seasonal variation. but the other two quadrants (Amp 3 & Amp 4) show an evident seasonal variation in the bias level. The Cryo Tiger, the cooling system used at the Maidanak 4k CCD system, maintains the CCD temperature at -108'E, and effectively suppresses the dark electrons. The mean value versus the variance plot of the flat images does not show the expected relation for an ideal Poisson noise distribution and this is attributed to the large variation in quantum efficiency between different pixels. In addition, we confirm that there is no appreciable difference in gain between readout amplifiers, but there is a large variation in quantum efficiency across CCD chip especially in U. Due to the finite length of shutter opening and closing time, the effective exposure time varies across the science images. We introduce two parameters to quantify the effect of this uneven illumination and present a method to remove these effects. We also present a method to remove the interference patterns appearing in the images obtained with longer wavelength filters and investigate the spatial variation of the point spread function.

Measurement of Imaging Property of Flat-Panel Detector

  • We measured and evaluated digital, pre-sampling and overall imaging properties (characteristic curves, Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), Wiener spectra (WS), Noise Equivalent Quanta (NEQ) and Detective Quantum Efficiency (DQE)) for the direct type and indirect type of Flat-Panel Detector (FPD). First, the digital and overall characteristic curves of the both types of FPD had more wide dynamic range than that of the S/F system. Second, the pre-sampling and overall MTF of the direct-type FPD were superior to those of the indirect-type FPD. Third, for identical exposures, the digital and overall WS of the direct-type FPD were similar or worse than those of the indirect-type FPD, and for larger exposure, the digital WS of the both types of FPD were smaller, but overall WS of the both types of FPD were larger. Fourth, the digital and overall NEQ and DQE of the direct-type FPD were worse than both NEQ and DQE of the indirect-type FPD at lower spatial frequencies, but were better at higher spatial frequencies.

다결정 CdTe 기반의 광계수형 X선 센서 제작 및 특성평가 (The Fabrication and Property Evaluation of Poly-crystalline CdTe based Photon Counting X-ray Sensor)

  • 종래의 방사선 의료영상 센서는 방사선에 의해 생성된 전하신호를 화소내에서 적분하는 방식이다. 본 연구에서는 저선량에서 우수한 해상력이 가능한 광계수형 영상센서를 개발하기 위해 진공 열증착법을 이용하여 다결정 CdTe(p-CdTe) 필름을 제작하였다. 또한, 광계수형 센서의 성능평가를 위하여 물리적 특성(SEM, XRD) 및 전기적 특성(leakage current, x-ray sensitivity, SNR) 평가를 하였다. 측정 결과, $1V/{\mu}m$ 이하의 인가전압에서 $5nA/cm^2$ 이하의 누설 전류밀도를 보였으며, X선 발생신호량은 $7{\mu}C/cm^2{\cdot}R$으로 광계수형 센서로의 적용에 적합한 것으로 평가되었다. 또한, 신호대잡음비는 동작영역에서 5000 이상의 값을 보였다.

Improvement of Analytic Reconstruction Algorithms Using a Sinogram Interpolation Method for Sparse-angular Sampling with a Photon-counting Detector

  • Sparse angular sampling has been studied recently owing to its potential to decrease the radiation exposure from computed tomography (CT). In this study, we investigated the analytic reconstruction algorithm in sparse angular sampling using the sinogram interpolation method for improving image quality and computation speed. A prototype of the spectral CT system, which has a 64-pixel Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT)-based photon-counting detector, was used. The source-to-detector distance and the source-to-center of rotation distance were 1,200 and 1,015 mm, respectively. Two energy bins (23~33 keV and 34~44 keV) were set to obtain two reconstruction images. We used a PMMA phantom with height and radius of 50.0 mm and 17.5 mm, respectively. The phantom contained iodine, gadolinium, calcification, and lipid. The Feld-kamp-Davis-Kress (FDK) with the sinogram interpolation method and Maximum Likelihood Expectation Maximization (MLEM) algorithm were used to reconstruct the images. We evaluated the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the materials. The SNRs of iodine, calcification, and liquid lipid were increased by 167.03%, 157.93%, and 41.77%, respectively, with the 23~33 keV energy bin using the sinogram interpolation method. The SNRs of iodine, calcification, and liquid state lipid were also increased by 107.01%, 13.58%, and 27.39%, respectively, with the 34~44 keV energy bin using the sinogram interpolation method. Although the FDK algorithm with the sinogram interpolation did not produce better results than the MLEM algorithm, it did result in comparable image quality to that of the MLEM algorithm. We believe that the sinogram interpolation method can be applied in various reconstruction studies using the analytic reconstruction algorithm. Therefore, the sinogram interpolation method can improve the image quality in sparse-angular sampling and be applied to CT applications.

  • Purpose - This study focuses on clues that can clearly amplify the effects of background music. Review which store environments have a direct and positive impact on consumer responses, such as purchases. Research design, data, and methodology - This study focuses on clues that can clearly amplify the effects of background music. The purpose of this study is to examine what kind of store environment, combined with background music, has a direct and positive effect on consumer reactions such as purchase, and suggest future research directions. Results - The manager decides to use background music in the store because it is relatively inexpensive and easy to identify the emotional response of the consumer. In addition, appropriate background music lowers the psychological purchasing barriers of consumers. Previous studies have often not conducted a basic review of whether consumers perceive background music when it is used in retail stores. For example, it is necessary to make sure that the volume of the background music is loud enough and that the noise is properly excluded despite the congestion of the store so that the pure influence of the background music on the consumer can be measured. A way for store managers to clarify and differentiate their identity is to create a unique and satisfying store atmosphere for their customers. In order to help customers focus on their purchases, store managers must use marketing elements to integrate the five senses. And they should plan background music aiming at synergy effect of these five senses. In other words, in order to make the store atmosphere positive, it is not enough to have a suitable visual design interior or background music in the store, and consumers should have the opportunity to smell, taste and touch it directly. Conclusions - In conclusion, we hope that the following issues will be studied by several scholars in the future. It should be clarified that the impact of background music on customers varies depending on the customer's movement in the store, the selection of the background music genre order, and the timing (interval) of background music exposure to the customer.

이미지 센서에 의해 발생하는 노이즈 제거를 위한 영상의 조도에 따른 적응적 로컬 시그마 필터의 구현 (Implementation of the adaptive Local Sigma Filter by the luminance for reducing the Noises created by the Image Sensor)

  • 본 논문에서는 이미지 센서에 의해 발생하는 노이즈를 제거하기 위한 적응적 로컬 시그마 필터 장치를 제안하였다. 이미지 센서에 의해 발생하는 작은 노이즈는 이미지 센서의 아날로그 게인과 노출시간의 증가로 인해 영상 정보와 함께 증폭되며 이러한 노이즈 제거를 목표로 시스템을 설계 하였다. Flatness Index Map 알고리즘을 사용해 영상의 윤곽선을 추출하였으며, 임계치가 영상의 휘도에 따라 적응적으로 변화하도록 설계하여 고조도 영상에서는 윤곽선 추출을 수행하지 않으며, 저조도에서만 윤곽선을 추출하도록 하였다. 추출된 윤곽선을 판단하여 그에 해당하는 픽셀에 대해서만 Local Sigma Filter 알고리즘을 사용하여 노이즈 제거를 수행 하였다. 설계된 필터의 성능 검증을 위해 윈도우 테스트 프로그램을 제작하였다. 그리고 HDL을 사용해 하드웨어로 설계하였으며, FPGA Demonstration board와 $1280{\times}720$ 이미지 사이즈, 30 frame/sec의 성능을 갖는 HD급 CMOS 이미지 센서를 사용해 하드웨어로 설계된 로컬 시그마 필터의 동작을 검증하였다.
