In this paper, we consider a precoder design for downlink multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) in distributed antenna systems (DAS). In DAS, remote radio heads (RRHs) are placed at geographically different locations within a cell area. Three different precoder design schemes are proposed to maximize the separate or joint signal-to-leakage-plus-noise ratio (SLNR) metrics by considering RRH sum power or per-RRH power constraints. The analytical closed-form form solution for each optimization problem is presented. Through computer simulation, we show that the joint SLNR based precoding schemes have better signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and bit error rate (BER) performances than the separate SLNR based schemes. Also, it is shown that the precoding scheme with RRH sum power constraint has better performance than the precoding scheme with per-RRH power constraint.

This paper presents a comparison of communication performance between the reconfigurable beam-steering antenna and the omni-directional (loop) antenna during standstill and walking motion. Both omni-directional and reconfigurable antennas were manufactured on the same fabric (${\varepsilon}_r=1.35$, $tqn{\delta}=0.02$) substrate and operated around 5 GHz band. The reconfigurable antenna was designed to steer the beam directions. To implement the beam-steering capability, the antenna used two PIN diodes. The measured peak gains were 5.9-6.6 dBi and the overall half power beam width (HPBW) was $102^{\circ}$. In order to compare the communication efficiency, both the bit error rate (BER) and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) were measured using a GNU Radio Companion software tool and user software radio peripheral (USRP) devices. The measurement were performed when both antennas were standstill and walking motion in an antenna chamber as well as in a smart home environment. From these results, the performances of the reconfigurable beam steering antenna outperformed that of the loop antenna. In addition, in terms of communication efficiencies, in an antenna chamber was better than in a smart home environment. In terms of movement of antennas, standstill state has better results than walking motion state.

This paper investigates the performance of an amplify-and-forward (AF) two-way relaying system with antenna correlation. The system consists of two multiple-antenna sources, which exchange information via the aid of a single-antenna relay. In particular, we derive the exact outage probability expression. Furthermore, we provide a simple, tight closed-form lower bound for the outage probability. Based on the lower bound, we obtain the closed-form asymptotic outage probability and the average symbol error rate expressions at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), which reveal the system's diversity order and coding gain with antenna correlation. To investigate the system's throughput performance with antenna correlation, we also derive a closed-form lower bound for the average sum-rate, which is quite tight from medium to high SNR regime. The analytical results readily enable us to obtain insight into the effect of antenna correlation on the system's performance. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to verify the analytical results.

In anti-jamming GPS receiver, adaptive signal processing techniques in which the radiation pattern of adaptive array antenna of elements may be adaptively changed used to reject interference, clutter, and jamming signals. In this paper, I describes adaptive signal processing technique using the sample matrix inversion(SMI) algorithm. This adaptive signal processing technique can be applied effectively to wideband/narrowband anti-jamming GPS receiver because it does not consider the satellite signal directions and GPS signal power level exists below the thermal noise. I also analyzed the effects of covariance matrix sample size and diagonal loading technique on the system performance of five-element circular array antenna. To attain near optimum performance, more samples required for calculation covariance matrix. Diagonal loading technique reduces the system nulling capability against low-power jamming signals, but this technique improves robustness of adaptive array antenna.
In this paper, the antenna the with linear active phased array of $1{\times}16$ operated in DBS band was designed. The antenna was composed of sixteen radiating elements, sixteen active channels and five Wilkinson power combiners with 4-channel inputs, a digital control board and a stabilizing DC bias board. The radiating element of the array has the structure of a microstrip stack patch with a left-hand circular polarization. And, each active channel consists of a low noise ampilifier, a 3-bit digital phase shifter and a variable analog attenuator. The breadboard of linear active phased array antenna was also fabricated to test the electrical performances. The radiation patterns of the antenna were measured after correcting initial phases of each active channel in aechoic chamber. And also, the beam scanning chracteristcs of $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$ were measured.
This paper presents a WLAN band active monopole antenna which is made of a CPW-fed monopole antenna and a low noise amplifier implemented on single-layer low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) substrate. Planar active antenna measure return loss and power test. (drain voltage = 4V, gate voltage = -0.6V). The bandwidth, is 540MHz, return loss is -38dB.

A three dimension(3D) link analysis is peformed considering multipath effects caused by a reflected signal and the difference angle between the antenna bore-sight and Line-Of-Sight(LOS). In addition, a direction of a receive antenna is determined for a receiver to get maximum signal strength in a telemetry situation. For a fixed receive antenna, the angle is determined to maximize the average Carrier to Noise Ratio(CNR) over the interested part of a trajectory. For a tracking antenna, the angle at every position is selected to give maximum CNR or to direct the boresight to the flying projectile.

Antenna selection is a method to enhance the performance of spatial multiplexing multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, which can achieve the diversity order of the full MIMO systems. Although various selection criteria have been studied in the literature, they should be adjusted to the detection operation implemented at the receiver. In this paper, antenna selection methods that optimize the post-processing signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and eigenvalue are considered for the lattice reduction (LR)-based receiver. To develop a complexity-efficient antenna selection algorithm, the incremental selection strategy is adopted. Moreover, for improvement of performance, an additional iterative selection method is presented in combination with an incremental strategy.

In the VHF range, active antennas are widely used for wideband applications due to their small size. Active antenna consists of antenna elements and amplifiers, which are directly connected to each other. Gain and noise-figure characteristics are very important for good sensitivity performance, because it is located at the front end of a receiving system. In this study, we developed an active dipole antenna with 5:1 bandwidth(100${\sim}$500 MHz), which consists of a dipole antenna and a P-HEMT amplifier. To obtain required performances, the antenna and the amplifier should be designed simultaneously. In order for that, we introduced an equivalent port concept to model the 1-port dipole antenna as an equivalent 2-port system. Using the proposed equivalent port, the performance of the active dipole antenna was simulated by the ADS. In order to measure the gain and noise-figure characteristics of the antenna, we utilized the same concept of the two-port equivalent impedance model. The measurement results for typical gain, NF and VSWR in the required frequency band were 8dBi, 9dB and 1.7:1, respectively. The radiation patterns at the principal planes were same as the typical radiation pattern of a dipole antenna. By comparing the simulation results with measured ones, it is confirmed that the proposed methods works well.
