Multi-biological Signal-based Smart Trigger System for Cardiac MRI (다중 생체 신호를 이용한 심장 자기공명영상 스마트 트리거 시스템)

  • In cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI), heart and respiratory motions are one of main obstacles in obtaining diagnostic quality of images. To synchronize CMRI to the physiological motions, ECG and respiratory gatings are commonly used. In this paper multi-biological signal (ECG, respiratory, and SPO2) based smart trigger system is proposed. By using multi-biological signal, the proposed system is robust to the induced noise such as eddy current when gradient pulsing is continuously applied during the examination. Digital conversion of the multi-biological signal makes the system flexible in implementing smart and intelligent algorithm to detect cardiac and respiratory motion and to reject arrhythmia of the heart. The digital data is used for real-time trigger, as well as signal display, and data storage which may be used for retrospective signal processing.

  • As the usage of the Internet grows and digital media become more diversified, it has become much easier for digital contents to be distributed and shared. This makes easier to access the desired digital contents. On the other hand, there is an increasing need to protect the copyright of digital works. There are some prevalent ways to protect ownership, but they accompany several disadvantages. Among those ways, watermarking methods have the advantage of ensuring invisibility, but they also have a disadvantage that they are vulnerable to external attacks such as a noise and signal processing. In this paper, we propose the detecting method of illegal contents that is robust against external attacks to protect digital works. We extract HSV and LBP features from images and use Euclidian-based hashing techniques to shorten the searching time on high-dimensional and near-duplicate videos. According to the results, the proposed method showed higher detection rates than that of the Watermarking techniques in terms of the images with fabrications or deformations.

Convergence Analysis of Adaptive L-Filter (적응 L-필터의 수렴성 해석)

  • In this paper we analyze the convergence behavior of the recursive least rank (RLR) L-filter. The RLR L-filter is an order statistics filter, filter coefficients of which are the weights according to the order of magnitude of inputs. And RLR L-filter is a non-linear adaptive filter, that uses RLR algorithm for coefficient updating. The RLR algorithm is a non-linear adaptive algorithm based on rank estimates in Robust statistics. The mean and mean-squared convergence behavior of the RLR L-filter is examined with variable step-sizes. The RLR L-filter adapts the median filter type to the heavy-tailed distribution function of impulse noise, and adapts the average filter type to Gaussian noises.

SINR-Based Multipath Routing for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

  • This paper proposes a multipath routing protocol called cross-layer multipath AODV (CM-AODV) for wireless ad hoc networks, which selects multiple routes on demand based on the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) measured at the physical layer. Note that AODV (Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector) is one of the most popular routing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks. Each time a route request (RREQ) message is forwarded hop by hop, each forwarding node updates the route quality which is defined as the minimum SINR of serialized links in a route and is contained in the RREQ header. While achieving robust packet delivery, the proposed CM-AODV is amenable to immediate implementation using existing technology by neither defining additional packet types nor increasing packet length. Compared to the conventional multipath version of AODV (which is called AOMDV), CM-AODV assigns the construction of multiple paths to the destination node and makes it algorithmically simple, resulting in the improved performance of packet delivery and the less overhead incurred at intermediate nodes. Our performance study shows that CM-AODV significantly outperforms AOMDV in terms of packet delivery ratio and average end-to-end delay, and results in less routing overhead.

A Framework for Human Body Parts Detection in RGB-D Image (RGB-D 이미지에서 인체 영역 검출을 위한 프레임워크)

  • This paper propose a framework for human body parts in RGB-D image. We conduct tasks of obtaining person area, finding candidate areas and local detection in order to detect hand, foot and head which have features of long accumulative geodesic distance. A person area is obtained with background subtraction and noise removal by using depth image which is robust to illumination change. Finding candidate areas performs construction of graph model which allows us to measure accumulative geodesic distance for the candidates. Instead of raw depth map, our approach constructs graph model with segmented regions by quadtree structure to improve searching time for the candidates. Local detection uses HOG based SVM for each parts, and head is detected for the first time. To minimize false detections for hand and foot parts, the candidates are classified with upper or lower body using the head position and properties of geodesic distance. Then, detect hand and foot with the local detectors. We evaluate our algorithm with datasets collected Kinect v2 sensor, and our approach shows good performance for head, hand and foot detection.

Watermark Algorithm Using Difference Matrix between Successive Blocks (연속 블록간의 화소차이 행렬을 이용한 워터마크 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we proposed a watermarking algorithm by using difference matrix between successive blocks in the transform domain. In the preprocessing, original image is decomposed with 1-level sub-bands by DWT. Then, all sub-bands which are excepted the low-frequency bands are set to normalize and make a reference image after transforming inverse DWT. The statistic variance of successive blocks between the original image and the reference image are calculated and finally, watermark is embedded considering the local characteristic with respect to the high-frequence components. Experimental results showed that the proposed approach is robust and better invisible in such attacks as filtering, JPEG and noise addition.

Design of an RCGA-based Linear Active Disturbance Rejection Controller for Ship Heading Control

  • A ship's automatic steering system is the basis for addressing control difficulties related to course-changing and course-keeping during navigation through heading angle control, and is a link in realizing unmanned and autonomous ships. This study proposes a robust RCGA-based linear active disturbance rejection controller (LADRC) design method considering environmental disturbances, measurement noise, and model uncertainties in designing a ship heading controller for use when the ship is sailing. The LADRC consisted of a transient profile, a linear extended state observer, and a PD controller. The control gains in the LADRC with the linear extended state observer were adjusted by RCGAs to minimize the integral of the time-weighted absolute error (ITAE), which is an evaluation function of the control system. The proposed method was applied to ship heading control, and its effectiveness was validated by comparing the propulsive energy loss between the proposed method and a conventional linear PD controller. The simulation results showed that the proposed method had the advantages of lower propulsive energy loss, more robustness, and higher tracking precision than the conventional linear PD controller.

Comparative Studies of Frequency Estimation Method for Fault Disturbance Recorder (고장 왜란 기록기를 위한 주파수 추정 기법의 비교 연구)

  • Voltage and current phasor estimation has been executed by GPS-based synchronized PMU, which has become an important way of wide-area blackout protection for the prevention of expending faults in a power system. The PMU technique can not easily get the field data and it is impossible to share information, so that there has been used a FNET(Frequency Monitoring Network) method for the wide-area intelligent protection in USA. It consists of FDR(Fault Disturbance Recorder) and IMS(Information Management System). Therefore, FDR must provide an optimal frequency estimation method that is robust to noise and failure. In this paper, we present comparative studies for the frequency estimation method using IRDWT(Improved Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform), FRDWT(Fast Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform), and DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform). The Republic of Korea345[kV] power system modeling data by EMTP-RV are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed two kinds of RDWT(Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform) and DFT. The simulation results show that the proposed frequency estimation technique using FRDWT could be the optimal frequency measurement method, and thus be applied to FDR.

Position and Orientation Recognition for Adjusting Electronic Tuners (전자 튜너 조정을 위한 위치와 방향 인식)

  • This paper describes the development of a vision-aided position and orientation recognition system for automatically adjusting electronic tuners which control the waveform by rotating variable resisters. The position and orientation recognition system estimates the center and the angle of the tuner grooves so that the main controller may correct the difference from the ideal position and thereby manipulate the variable resisters automatically. In this paper a robust algorithm is suggested which estimates the center and the angle of the tuner grooves fast and precisly from the source image with lighting variance and video noise. In the algorithm morphological filtering, 8-chain coding, and invariant moments are sequentially used to figure out image segments concerned. The performance of the proposed system was evaluated using a set of real specimens. The results indicate the system works well enough to be used practically in real manufacturing lines. If the system adopts a high speed frame grabber which enables real time image processing, it can also be applied to positioning of robot manipulators as well as automated PCB adjusters.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive technique for the cardiac output regulation of a pendulum type electromechanical TAH. This techinque, which consists of two RLSE's and two PASTC' 5, performs Its controllability over the TAIB so that the m(RAP) and m(LAP) values re- main close to their desired values under she assumption that the variation of m(RAP) and m (LAP) are dominated by the variation of C.0. and the difference between the left and right ventricular output, respectively. To evaluate the performance of the proposed control system, a simulation is performed by using a human model which contains physiologic, drug and treatment, artificial heart and noise models. As a result, dual adaptive controller showed that abnormal m(LAP) and m(RAP) could be recovered to the normal range within 10minute and maintained desired value in steady state. The operation of this controller prored to be robust in spite of the rapid variation of human status.
